Sunny Sunday

Sunday, April 17, 2011

Just returned from a long walk around our neighborhood with my husband. We stopped in two cafes and sampled the coffee and small pastries. A small bit is all I really need. I used to be able to eat a whole bunch of meringue cookies from Trader Joes. Now I have two cookies and am fine. The first bite is always the best. I need to remember that about all things in life. I don't need to overdo in any area. I want to be balanced in family, work, eating, and exercise! emoticon

2. I do my best at work to help others.
3. I am a good wife and mother.

That's a great practice and I don't use my positive affirmations often enough. I guess I haven't properly formed the habit.
Here are the affirmations that I used for this week's team challenge on Positive Blogger's Team.

1. I am humble
2. I am gracious
3. I am graceful
4. I am grace-filled
5. I am grateful

Thanks for the positive reinforcement of a healthy habit.

Spreading the Spark!

Saturday, April 16, 2011

I am on Week 4 of the 28 Day Spark Program. I am reading the last chapter in The Spark book. This final week asks me to set a new goal. So I have decided to write at least four days a week. I will start by writing short pieces such as this blog on my SparkPage. This helps me take little steps of time that hopefully will stretch into longer pieces.

I also Spread the Spark today by writing a review of the book, "The Spark" on I used my Spark name for my reviewer pen name. I am looking forward to reading comments on my book review. At work, I have talked about SparkPeople to several colleagues. One of them has returned to SparkPeople after watching my progress. We discuss healthy recipes together at lunchtime. Spread the Spark! emoticon

Pizza Overload

Tuesday, April 12, 2011

My last blog entry was all about new goals and streaks. Last night I went to all you can eat pizza restaurant and ate my whole day's calorie allotment in one meal! That is upsetting! At the time it was fun, but now I feel guilty. However, I am not going to let it get me off track.

Today is a new day! I ate well, didn't spluge, took a walk, and went to work. I made a new crockpot recipe today too. That is one of my goals for the week. As Chris says, "Take one step backwards and two steps forward!"

I'm hoping the pizza doesn't show up on my weekly weigh in! emoticon

Pizza is my kryptonite! I get weak in the knees, can't resist it, and waaaay over eat it!! Even crappy pizza is hard for me to resist. I feel your pain. Put it behind you and eat healthy the rest of the week. You can do it! :-)

Setting Goals

Tuesday, March 29, 2011

I am reading The Spark! It has inspired me to set short term, year and long term goals. One of them is to write more...and this blog provides the perfect opportunity! My husband and I also started some 28 day Streaks. We are trying to walk 30 minutes a day, try new crockpot recipes, and take Spanish lessons. It is a well balanced mix of goals. I added them to Other Goals on my Spark Goal page. It helps me check them off everyday which gives me a sense of accomplishment. I am spring cleaning and ready for the new, improved me! emoticon
