St. Patrick's Day Splurge!

Thursday, March 17, 2011

Help! I lost control!!! My husband and I went to a delicious Italian lunch with our college daughter who is home for Spring Break. I entered the restaurant with good intentions. However, my eyes were bigger than my stomach! We ordered an appetizer, first course of pasta, and then a porterhouse steak to split. Wow! Also, I dipped everything in olive oil and balsamic vinegar. For dessert, tiramisu. Why not? When I have eaten that much, why not indulge and have my favorite dessert in the whole world?
Then the guilt set husband and I started talking calories and points. Our daughter pointed out that on holidays you can't count calories. However, we did count calories as soon as we got home on our Spark Nutrition Counter. Yikes! I was way, way over my daily calorie amount. So was my husband. We tried to minimize the damage by recalculating the portion sizes on the Tracker. Still over our calorie count! If it counts for anything, we did take a 50 minute walk to the restaurant and home again. Tomorrow is a new day...and there is always room for sugar free green jello tonight. Happy St. Patrick's Day! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Sounds like your being too hard on yourself. The walk helped.

Sometimes we need to splurge a little and on holidays it's that much better just keep a count and as you say minimize the will be ok...Tomorrow rock it..oh I think if you ate that much that walk back would of been real bad..doesn't sound like it was..Hang tough!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hurt my foot,,,

Tuesday, March 15, 2011

I am not happy today. I can't walk or even think about exercising. I have had a foot problem for 3 months and now it is bad! I have been trying to walk more and now I am frustrated I can;t. I am going to make an appointment with a foot doctor. In the meantime, I will need to find other ways to exercise. I do have barbells and and exercise ball to use. Any ideas? emoticon

HI, I am just recovering from a minor foot operation (Moretons Neuroma)I have had the problem for over a year and it has taken this long to diagnose the problem and get it fixed.
The reason that I am commenting on your blog is that I was extremely down for some of the time. I am used to high mileage running and with the combination of withdrawal from the running, plus the concern about my foot (it really hurt for months) I was often in a bad mood.
Now I am on the mnd I do feel a little guilty about my moodiness, my wife was just great and understanding.
Stay positive and look on the bright side....I wish I had.

Hope it helps.

Dining Out

Saturday, March 12, 2011

Last night we went out to an Italian dinner. Our daughter is visiting so it was fun to do. We have been cooking at home a lot more with Spark People. I found out that I am more satisfied with my meals at home. I studied the menu and chose something low calorie. Then I changed my order to some pasta seafood. It was good, but I was still hungry when I was done. I did avoid the bread, appetizers, and dessert. Then I came home and ate more! I was scared to get on the scales this morning for my weekly weigh in. Luckily, I lost four pounds!!! I will walk around the city today with my husband and daughter. That will even out the Italian pasta dinner...

First Team Challenge Trophy!

Thursday, March 10, 2011

I started slowly for my Spark People comeback. I just received my Trophy for a Streak of 10 Minutes of excercise a day! It was doable and most days I did more. Now I am considering the 28 Day Boot Camp Challenge. I am ready for more exercise and the structure sounds good. I have dumbells and just bought a large exercise ball. I must admit that the Trophy is a big incentive too!!! emoticon

Long Saturday Walk!

Saturday, March 05, 2011

I just returned from a two hour walk around the city. We stopped for coffee and an organic grocery store. It was fun to walk around the store and look at the labels. We ended up with two bags of healthy food to carry home. Now we are going to make a low cal breakfast. I feel more energetic and ready for the weekend. I feel more positive despite some negative events this week. Thanks to the Spark Community for the upbeat attitude. emoticon
