Why am I so hungry today?

Thursday, September 15, 2011

That is the question. To eat or not to eat...that is the problem!

Yesterday I did my 30 minute Walk/Run and that makes me hungry! I am doing the 8 week Spark Trick or Treat Trot Challenge from walking to running a 5K! I am not a runner and was always the last place in gym class in running races. So this is my new goal and I am pretty proud of myself. I am actually enjoying the RUN and am exploring my new neighborhood in the process.

However, I have temptation in front of me. At work today, we had a pizza lunch. I ate one small piece. I also have snacks in my classroom that call to me when I have downtime. I need to drink more water instead of eating. That would help! I am already thinking about what I want to eat for dinner. Help! To eat healthy is the solution...

Glad to hear you joined a challenge, but it's still hard to avoid treats - especially as we head into holidays. I have always wondered why in the U.S. we have Thanksgiving and Christmas so close together! NOT FAIR for people who are trying to eat well and stay healthy!! :)

Rain, Run, Rain!

Sunday, September 04, 2011

Rainy days won't bring me down. I finally got outside for my Walk/Run at 5:30pm today in between rain storms. I owe my new energy to the Spark Rookie Running Team that I just joined!

I have never been a runner and was always the slowest in gym class. I hated to run and avoided it at all costs. Now I am watching the clouds and anxious to go out and walk/run. I have to admit I am motivated by the Spark Team Trophy and looking forward to the Spark Virtual Trick or Trot on Halloween. There is more...

Last spring I made a list of things I want to do when I moved to South America. One of them was to run along the beach. Today I ran along the beach in the wind and 52 degrees! My visualization from five months ago came true!

I am only on Week 2 and running in two minute spurts. Six more weeks to go to the 5K challenge. I am smiling of the other things on my list is to take Tango lessons. Stay there a Spark Tango Trophy?

What did I do today that was healthy???

Thursday, August 25, 2011

Let me count the ways...

1. Started the day with oatmeal with dried cherries and blueberries on top!
2. Tracked my Nutrition and Fitness on Spark
3. I am so excited that I did my first day of the 5K Running SparkTeam. It was mostly walking, but a good start for me.
4. Unpacked and sorted more moving boxes.
5. Cooked a SparkPeople Recipe that was too good...20 Minute Chicken Parmagian.
6. Enjoyed my day off work in a productive way!!!

Moving is disruptive, but...

Friday, August 19, 2011

is motivating! I want to get back in my healthy eating and exercise routine. Instead, I am unpacking, stressing, starting a new job, eating, and trying to find my way around a new country.

However, in the process, I am reading food labels in Spanish at the grocery store (everything is marked 0% Trans Fat here), finding new, interesting food, trying new recipes, and walking a lot around a new city. I am setting up a NEW routine.

As I unpacked, I found my SparkPeople Visual Posters that I made for my goals, my inflatable exercise ball, weights, and am ready to begin again. I have a larger room to exercise in now and there are no excuses! Let the fun begin in a new place!!!

Great attitude! I can't believe they think you'd fall for 0% trans fat - good thing you know what to look for!
