Still with the cold...

Saturday, July 17, 2010

and, I'm doing it anyway. I would be peppier without the cold, have more energy, etc. But, that's OK. All Is Good! I'll get better, even if it takes longer than I would like. Patience is a key learning element for me with Sparkpeople. I love to read about and put into practice the Slowest Loser concepts and progress over time.

I am enjoying this gorgeous day. I am grateful for every moment of it. I hope the same for you too!

Today is Spectacular...

Saturday, July 03, 2010

Our little community is getting all prettied up in anticipation of the 4th of July celebration tomorrow. The weather is gorgeous and is supposed to stay that way so the local parade and all the associated picnics and gatherings should go on without a hitch. I've put out the flags (local parade flag & USA) and have plans to spend the day with friends after taking part in the local parade. This vignette is being repeated in small towns and villages (and big ones too!) all across the country. Enjoy the day. Oh, but wait...enjoy every day!

Walking on Sunshine...Again!

Sunday, June 27, 2010

I am so grateful to be getting back into the swing of things by using my Wii Walk It Out again. I have been out of the daily groove for about a month and a half for a variety of reasons: working with the Census disrupted my focus, and, most recently, I pulled a psoas muscle which played havoc on my lower back because of overcompensating spasming muscles. I have been working it out slowly. My favorite and dependable chiropractor seems to have retired. I only went to him when I was suffering with the above-described issue. I miss his no-pain corrections and on target advice. I am following the remembered advice though and just finished a wonderful, healing 20 minutes in a friend's hot tub. This allows the spasming muscles to RELAX. Yes. Advil, not too many, not too often, really helps. Hydrating more helps. A little more Vitamin C helps. Sleeping on my side with a pillow between my knees helps. Paying attention when I move helps. Moving is now helping. Which brings me back to Walking on Sunshine and my WIO. It helps.

I'm sorry your back hurt, but glad you're better. I was not walking for 11 months once when I had plantar fasciatis (heel spurs, but there weren't any spurs). I fell back on an exercise bike then, until my left knee got really bad again, but by then I could walk a little again. Stay with it but go slow, and you will get better. You know what you're doing. emoticon

If you want a lift...

Wednesday, June 16, 2010

go see The Karate Kid. What an inspiration and a tribute to goal-setting, perseverance over time, and taking the higher ground. Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan are a pleasure to watch. China is the location and there are some magical places that are revealed, especially Dragon Well Mountain. There are SP lessons throughout, including the putting on, taking off, hanging up, and putting down of a jacket over and over and over and over and over....Like maybe nutrition tracking, drinking water, logging fitness minutes, pursuing challenges.... Go! Enjoy!

I have passed the Karate Kid a lot of times, but you convince me that I should watch it the next chance I get - or at least record it and plan to watch it. I have cable TV and a bunch of movie channels, but I mostly read books. The Kid does sound good.

Today is my day to start anew...

Monday, June 14, 2010

I didn't visit my Spark Page yesterday. No posting comments. No tracking food. No tracking fitness minutes. No reading articles. Etc., etc., etc.! I had several activities yesterday and just didn't do my usual Spark stuff. So, today I am starting my streaks again! It's a fine new day and I am glad to be part of the SparkPeople nation.
