A variation on what I always say, Everything will be fine. One way or another things work out and we figure out a way to move forward, or those we leave behind figure out a way to move forward. You cannot stop life.

We are Shooting Stars...

Tuesday, March 13, 2012

emoticon I was so excited to see the Shooting Stars link today. It is a pure pleasure to be part of this team and this Challenge. And, it IS a Challenge. I will have my 3rd SP Anniversary on March 18th. Much has changed and improved since joining Sparkpeople. My health numbers are so much better now, in fact they're REALLY good according to my doctor. Prior to SP, I had blood pressure readings that couldn't be stabilized to normal even with several meds. Today, I take two small dose meds and have had stable BP readings well within the normal/healthy range consistently over the past year. My "prediabetic" A1C blood sugar test was a big concern to me and my doctor. Not anymore, my blood sugar is in the normal/healthy range. My cholesterol readings were high. I was on statins. Since SP and my new way of eating and exercising, my cholesterol is in the good range and my HDL is 69 at my last reading. NO statins needed!! Oh, I also have shed some weight too. In July 2008, I weighed 270 (maybe a little more.) Since SP, I shed over 60 pounds. I have gained back about 15 of those pounds and am striving to course correct toward my goal of a healthier weight. I am able to do things and go places that I wouldn't have even conceived possible 3 years ago. I have a lot more stamina, better physical ability. It's just more fun. I will continue using my Wii Walk It Out and participating in the WIO Challenges. I also plan on getting back into my Leslie Sansone Walking DVDs. I was sidetracked with separated ribs for about 5 months. But, all is better now. I also am continuing with my Walk to Rivendell Challenge. I love those Hobbits, Frodo, Aragon, and my fellow walkers of the realm. As for the Shooting Stars, this team and this challenge are great places to be, to participate, to give and get support, perfect to getting focused and moving toward achievable goals. Let's get out there and do this STARS!!!!! Let's all just do whatever it takes to get us to the next good place Sparkpeople. Enjoy the journey

You have come such a long way in your three years! Congratulations on all of your personal and healthful accomplishments! To be free of all medications is such a HUGE accomplishment! Doesn't it feel great?

I'm so happy you are a member of our Stars team! I hope you will find this challenge reinforces your commitment to becoming all that you can be and more! I hope you see the 5% gone at the end of this challenge!

Good News...

Saturday, March 03, 2012

I got the biopsy results from my Dermatoligist yesterday afternoon. No issues. She is scheduling check-up appointments every four months to keep track of several other moles, spots, areas that looked different to her. But, that's a good thing. I'm glad for the eyes on.
Have a great week! I hope all your news is GOOD news.

All the Best

So, this was my day today...

Thursday, February 23, 2012

I had a Doctor's appt "in the valley" today. It's about 21/2 hour drive one way. It was raining (a lot) again/still. The Doc is a dermatologist and she seemed to find several moles (?) , skin curiosities that she wants to monitor by scheduling more frequent visits. She took several photos, notes on placement, etc. She also took a biopsy of one of the areas. She said they get the results in seven days. So, there was my day.

Once you reach a certain age, the skin cancers start showing up. They're not too serious unless they're melanomas, but they still can kill you if you ignore them long enough. I'm going in every four months now, and so far have had five Mohs surgeries (head and face) and one squamus cell melanoma scraped off my right thigh. It's irritating, especially if you have to go that far for an appointment.

It's a good idea to have the pix to compare in a few months...changes may indicate a problem, while no change can set your mind at ease.

Choose positive, supportive encouragers...

Wednesday, February 15, 2012

“Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another: ‘What! You, too? Thought I was the only one.’” (C.S. Lewis)

Choose one or two or more positive supporters and encouragers from the many thousands/millions of Sparkpeople members. While you're at it, consider how you interact with other Sparkers and Spark Team members. Are you supportive? Are you positive? Are you supportive? Everybody has challenges, traumatic experiences, and real dramatic events to deal with at one time or another. After all, we're all on this journey called Life together. It's understandable that at times we're not feeling all that hopeful or positive. And that's OK. That's when reaching out and asking for help and support from someone else is the positive thing to do: IF that is what will help you. Sometimes self care and alone time works wonders too. Pamper yourself in ways that are positive and helpful for you. Be a positive, supportive friend to others AND to yourself. I hope you have a great week. All the BEST. Tudi

It's hard for all of us - that's why we keep coming back to this web site. The biggest command is to never give up - if you just keep working at it you do eventually get there.
