"Share and Save Options on Member Blogs Removed"...

Monday, January 16, 2012

"Monday, January 16, 2012

A few days ago we launched a new feature where we added buttons to share member blogs to Facebook and Twitter, with the option to opt-out of having this on your blog posts. We received feedback from members that they were not comfortable with how we implemented this feature, so this morning we removed the feature and option from the site.

We definitely appreciate all the feedback and support our members provide to SparkPeople. If you've been a member for a while you've hopefully noticed we are constantly making enhancements and upgrades to the site to help everyone better reach their goals!

Yay Sparkpeople! They are doing the right thing.

I totally agree - this should be our choice, not theirs.

I agree. The nature of this site would be compromised if our private thoughts we share with others who share the journey to a healthy lifestyle were "broadcast" to the world. I guess I'm not that into sharing my life in cyberspace.

I agree with you 100%. I hope that they'll remember this and next time they roll out a similar "feature", they set it up "opt in" rather than "opt out"

OPT-OUT...

Sunday, January 15, 2012

I received an e-mail from Sparker LYNDALOVES2HIKE regarding a new SP/Facebook feature that means someone can "share" your blog with others on Facebook by clicking on the "Share bar" at the top of the blog. Here's info on how to OPT-OUT thanks to Lynda.

"You may have noticed that your own blog now has is a "Share" bar at the top of the blog. That means if someone likes your blog entry they can "share" it on their Facebook wall!!

If you like this new feature, then don't worry about doing anything - if you want to delete this "Share bar" feature from your blog and keep others from sharing your blogs, do this:

Go to your SparkPage.
Click to Edit the page.
On the top Un-check "Show share bar on my blog posts".
Save your changes."

This should always be an opt-IN never an opt-OUT. Sparkpeople should be better knowing this than Facebook. Sigh. Maybe Congress can pass an OPT-IN ALWAYS Clause as opposed to this sneaky Opt-Out game.

    Thanks
There was a overwhelming number of members who opposed the new share blog, that SparkPeople announced this morning that they removed it.
Thank you SparkPeople.

I so agree. Earlier today I went on a mini-rant on a thread about what it can possibly be that Corporations get in return for all these "like us on Facebook" requests every company has now. It seems obvious that there is some monetary reward to be gained by having traffic run through Facebook or they wouldn't be doing it.

Wii Walk It Out used to be a favorite go to...

Saturday, January 14, 2012

But, after I fully completed Rhythm Island several times by clicking on every possible clickable capsule and thing, I got bored...so I quit using WIO as a resource. Then, happily, the Sparkpeople Walk It Out Team came up with a wonderful "Dude Ranch Challenge" that encompasses Clues, challenges, individual efforts matched with other members of a team. I'm on a team with 4 others and we're called the Wanderers. WooHoo. When we get a clue we are to accomplish certain things in an area, but not ALL things. We have a limit of 10,000 steps a day allowed for the Challenge progress in a day. When all members of the team complete all elements needed to finish a clue, the team clue completion is posted on the main Dude Challenge page and then an activity to be accomplished is set for the team to accomplish before another WIO Clue is given. We have completed 2 Clues and two activities and are working on our third clue. Other teams are further along than we are, other teams are not as far along as we have come. All in all, it is WAY fun. I'm Walking on Sunshine again!!!!

Virtual Walk Across America...My Progress 1.1.2012

Sunday, January 01, 2012

As of January 1st, 2012, I am traveling through the approximate middle of Kentucky! As of today, I have completed 839.4 miles since I began this incredible cross country journey.

I want to give my SparkBuddy Monty68 a special shout out. I didn't even know about the Virtual Walk/Run/Cycle Across America until he did a blog about it. There's a Spark Team you can join that then lets you sign onto this virtual walk. What a blast. I love seeing the progress on the maps. This is very inspirational. At least it is to me. Check it out. Enjoy this new year to the fullest. Take a walk with me across America.

I love the trail. I have done it a couple of times and enjoy "camping" in a different place each night.

The site must be down as I can't get on. I was going to add you as a teammate. I'm in Kansas right now, but the site puts your friends at where you are when you connect and move forward from there.

Have fun walking.

    Hi
I am so glad that you are walking across America. You have done a great job to be half way across Kentucky. It does make it exciting when you are able to see where you are. A few days ago, there was a man walking and it looked like he was looking at the person taking his picture.
Keep up your great walking and before you know it, you will be walking into Florence Oregon

My Best Life Storyboard... "do"

Wednesday, December 28, 2011

Oprah.com has a Storyboard feature to create your own goals and images for inspiration in creating your best life. I created the above corkboard using the tools on the storyboard. My storyboard highlights for me the important areas of my life I want to put positive attention to in the coming days and years.

"Relish and cherish good times with my partner."

"Spend happy, quality time with my Grandkids."

"Have fun, good times with friends and family."

"Connect daily with the spirit in all."

"More times than not, eat healthy, organic foods."

"Walk 30 minutes or more most days of the week."

"Plan & save for Paris & Amalfi."

This is updatable, of course, but I really like the simplicity of it. I find hope, inspiration, and joy when I look at my storyboard.

May joy, good health, peace and all good things grace the lives of you and yours through all the days of your lives.
