That doesn't look like the Pacific I remember, but it's a nice picture. We live on the Gulf, and one of our treats is to watch the sun set over it. It's usually fairly calm.

I hope you had a good day today.

How I miss the Ocean! Growing up in Brooklyn NYC, our beaches were the ocean!

Thank you - I still feel anchored when I am near water.

WOWIE & POOH....

Sunday, August 14, 2011

are dahlias that my partner and I saw yesterday at the "Dahlia Capital of America": Swan Island Dahlias.

Enjoy!

This is WOWIE.

This is POOH.

There were dahlias in bloom everywhere, as far as you could see. Stunnig.

Oh, and they also had beautiful, magnificent KOI too. The largest ones were several feet long.

"You have walked 1314 miles".....

Sunday, August 07, 2011

You have walked 1314 miles.
You are at Parth Galen!!!!!!!!!!!

This is very exciting to me. WOW! When I started on the SP Challenge the Walk to Rivendell, I never imagined that I would travel this far. I didn't realize how wonderful it is to walk with the Hobbits, Aragon, and especially my fellow, stalwart walkers and friends whose cheers support me on this journey. I am looking forward to starting anew on the Walk to Rivendell knowing that I WILL, at some future time, be back again at Parth Galen. There is much to celebrate. There is much to look forward to. One step at a time.

Enjoy the Journey!!

TOPS had a walk from "Chicago to Miami" one time, where you tracked how far each person walked. I was well over 500 miles, but no one checked on you, and I finally quit tracking it. It is neat to know how far you have gone in increments.

I'm Back...

Saturday, July 30, 2011

My partner and I had a wonderful visit with our three grandkids. They're back home now (on the East Coast). And we are recuperating! emoticon I am getting back to Sparkpeople basics. I have lost 60+ pounds over the past two years and recently regained 15+. While my health numbers remain good, my stamina and physical benefits have been backsliding. I have more weight to shed for my continued health and wellbeing, so I have much more to learn, practice, and incorporate with Sparkpeople.

I am including two photos from our whale watching trip with the grandkids. We saw lots of Orcas, eagles, and other wildlife on the trip. This was my first time in a Zodiak AND in an environmental suit. WOW to both experiences. The Zodiaks are very FAST and we were able to get to see the Orcas that were swimming in eyeshot of Vancouver BC all the way from Friday Harbor in the San Juan Islands. If you get out that way, check out the Western Prince Whale and Wildlife Tours. They're right next to the ferry landing. Check out their website for more info. What a wonderful time.

All the whale watching we ever did was along the California coast north of San Simeon. It was high above the water but with binoculars you did get a good view. We dolphins off of Honeymoon Island regularly.

I am glad you are doing well! In the past two weeks, I have finally pulled myself out of the slump and started walking again. I will be back with my Rivendell walking family soon - probably in the next two or three days. I have almost a week of walking to log! :)
