#1 Highlight: On Monday, during my shift at the Aquarium, I ended up going to the Emergency Room! One minute I was feeling absolutely fine, the next instant I was experiencing incredible and intense pain in my lower abdomen. It was an unrelenting pain and nothing seemed to make it decrease in intensity. Lucky for me, two of my volunteer colleagues are nurses. So, they helped me to understand that it would be best to go to the ER for evaluation. I also called my Doctor's Office and was told the same thing. I was in no shape to drive. I could hardly walk. One of the nurses drove me to the ER and stayed with me through the signing in process.
The ER staff was very good, very efficient. The pain had abated by then. I was weak and kind of out of it. But, the intense pain was gone. After blood tests and urine samples came back OK, the ER Doc talked about why he eliminated some possibilities, diverticulitis and appendicitis. No fever, no pain on pressure. No bladder infection--clear urine. There were some other things eliminated. But, the number one culprit is that I had a kidney stone and it is what caused all the pain. The Doc said that 80% of the time there is blood in the urine from the stone scraping along, but not always. Also, he said that I should be sure to drink lots of water too. He did say that I was lucky that the pain only lasted for a little while. He said sometimes it can take hours or days for a stone to pass.! I never experienced a pain this intense in my life. I am so fortunate that it only lasted about 45 minutes. I hope I never have another episode like this in my life.
#2 Highlight: Check out the picture of me showing off the borrowed chain saw and pick up truck we used removing an out-of-control escallonia bush in our yard. Obviouosly, I recuperated just fine. BTW, it has been at least 30 years since I used a chain saw. It was FUN!!!!
Have a great weekend and week. Enjoy the journey!

So today was a very rainy, cold day where I live. No walking the dogs on the trail today. So I did my walking inside!
I set up an area in my garage with floor pads that cushion the concrete floor very well. I have a TV/DVD combo set up and use this for some of my favorite indoor exercises.
Here is a selection of my favorites I use with the TV. I love the Nintendo Wii, Wii Fit and especially Walk It Out for Wii. My Wii plugs right in to the TV. I also love the Leslie Sansone Walk At Home DVDs you can see in the picture. I have begun using the Tai Chi tape and find it calming/interesting as well.
I walked 3 miles with my Wii Walk It Out today. I got my rainbow and have the picture to prove it!
Since it was an "indoors" kind of day, I decided to do some cooking. I made two recipes: Low Fat Crockpot Posole and Cilantro-Lime Salsa.
This is how the Posole soup began...
This is the Posole soup with some parmesan and brown rice for dinner. I am freezing the other portions to have at other times. YUM...
And, for a snack, the Cilantro-Lime Salsa and a serving of Trader Joe's Multgrain Tortilla Chips...Also yummy.
I noticed that when I was doing all the chopping, mincing, dicing, cooking and indoor walking that I actually was "in the moment" a lot. Who knew that cooking and hunting for rainbows could be meditative.
