Spring 5% Day 4: Walk with me...

My partner and I and our dogs went for a walk on our favorite trail by the Pacific earlier today. I took some pictures to share with you.

We started right here. What you'll notice is there are lots of places to sit and enjoy the view. You might even see a spout from a grey whale or two as they feed just offshore.

This is what the dogs were looking at...

What's around that turn in the trail?

Another place to sit awhile...Enjoy the view!

The trail goes right down to a wide sandy seven mile beach that stretches to the next village. This is at low tide in this picture. In the winter and at high tide, the waves can totally obliterate the beach. Plus, you always must be aware of sneaker waves when you are by this ocean/coast. It is lovely and can be dangerous too.

Here I am with the dogs. We're on the way back. We love this walk.

Another "in the moment" experience on this walk. I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!

Thank you for allowing us to walk with you along the ocean. I am not sure where you live, what part of the Pacific coastline is this.
I love the ocean and my walking partner and I try to get to the beach at least once a week.

Spring 5% Day 3...

Join me in a mini tour of the Aquarium where I volunteer. Today was my shift day, so I took some pictures to share with you. This place brings me joy. One of the important aspects of my Spring Challenge is to "show up in my life", be aware, awake, and in the moment. For me, when I am at the Aquarium, being in the moment is effortless.

Have you ever seen LIVING sand dollars? Neither had I. How cool is this?

Spring 5% Day 2...

Wow! I feel like the luckiest person in the world today. It was supposed to rain a lot today according to the weather folk. But, no. It was a gorgeous day. The sun was shining. The clouds were lovely, puffy and white. We got to take our dogs on our favorite walk on a trail that goes right next to the crashing waves of the Pacific. It was awesome! We also got to go to a wonderful Garden Center nearby and purchased several plants. I actually was able to plant two beautiful Japanese Painted ferns after we got home. It felt so good to be in the fresh air and digging in the dark, rich earth. Oh what a day!

One of the things I'd like to focus on during this 5% Challenge is being fully present in my life: showing up, being aware, awake, and alive to every moment possible. I hope the same for you!

    There's nothing like getting plants to make you feel like you are starting something new!! I will do some gardening myself today!!! For the first time ever I try starting plants indoors and my petunia seeds have sprouted. I am very excited!

Spring 5% Challenge ...

..list all the reasons you want to lose weight. 1. What do you want to change? 2. How do you want to look? 3. How do you want to feel? 4. What things will you be able to do in the future with a slimmer healthier body? And list all the OTHER things that you want to change!

1. I want to be able to be more physically fit and active than I am. I want to have me health indicators continue to improve to the healthiest range for me.

2. I want to look healthy and strong and solidly grounded (no wobbles).

3. I want to feel excited, forward-looking, hopeful, and engaged.

4. With a slimmer, healthier body, I will be able to go farther, last longer, and go faster than I can now.

5. Other goals: Have more fun, be more grateful, be present in my life every day. I hope the same for you.

This a great blog. I like your goals. If I can give you some encouragement, I could have written those ideas 4 years ago. I don't know if you read my Spark page,you will see what I have done and I believe that you can accomplish your goals.

Know My Numbers...

Know my numbers for the Spring 5% Challenge:

Updated my data in Start/my Goals & Progress: Done 4/30/2011

Weight Progress: for me

Current Weight: 216 pounds
Target Weight: 205 pounds
By When: July 2, 2011

Updated daily calorie requirements.

Now under my Goals & Progress it reads

Calories Eaten: Eat between 1250 and 1600 calories per day
Calories Burned: Burn 1500 calories per week
Weight Progress: Go from 216 to 205 by 7/2/2011

To calculate my 5%

How many pounds will I lose to achieve my 5% weight loss?

216 X .05 = 10.8 pounds

So with some daily exercise, and 1250 and 1600 calories a day, I can lose 10.8 pounds in 8 weeks.
