Prayer request!!

Thursday, June 09, 2011

If you are the praying type, please continue to read. One of my fellow neighborhood walkers has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. He goes in on the 20th to find out what they are going to do about it and when. Please keep him in your prayers. We refer to him as speedy because of how fast he walks, most people have to jog to keep up with him. He's one of the nicest people one could meet.

Ramblings!

Wednesday, June 08, 2011

Well, although I'm on a plateau right now, I've notice some changes in my body. For instance, my collar bone can visual be seen, so obviously I've lost the fat in that area. Now if only I could get rid of the pregnant looking gut and the thunder thighs.

Have had someone tell me that I need to be on TV, specifically for weight watchers. I asked them why when I don't use weight watchers and am against paying some program for me to do all the work and lose the weight. Not to mention what works for me wont necessarily work for someone else. No I didn't say that in a smart way, more of an inquiring type way.

Well said. I feel like advertising any one particular weight loss "solution" gives some people false hope. You've tailored your program to suit your body type and energy levels; someone with a completely different set of needs isn't going to get the results you get. It bugs me that there's a notion of a quick-fix that overweight people just need to stick with. I know a guy (also overweight) who runs five miles every day and sees the same results I get from circuit training and power walking.

Congrats on the changes! Keep up the good work and blast through that plateau!

lol I agree ..false advertising is terrible when you have someone who is sucked in to the tv and wants to make a change and believes they can by doing something...THAT YOU DIDNT REALLY DO...

Thats good that you are noticing the changes!!! Keep going

Trying my luck!

Tuesday, June 07, 2011

Well this year I'm trying my luck once again. Last year I only managed to get one tomato from a tomato plant that I had planted in one of those topsy turvy's. This year I've got a tomato plant planted in a bucket. I've also got some bell peppers and some zucchini plants planted in my flower bed. If I'm successful this year then next year I'll actually try a garden on the one side of the house.

Well back to mowing the front yard.

This and that!

Monday, June 06, 2011

While I was on my evening walk yesterday, I was reminded (when I saw a neighbor's garden) that I was out of lettuce and that I needed to remember to bring a bag to leave the neighbor on my 1st walk of today. Got up this morning and was reminded when I looked at the nutrition section of spark people. Well I went about my normal routine and then about 7:30 one of the dogs started going off at something outside... so I looked and low and behold there was that very neighbor at the end of my driveway leaving a bag of lettuce on my mailbox. Makes one wonder about ESP huh? I'll return the favor to the neighbor as I've got bell peppers and zucchini growing. Would give her tomatoes but she's already got some growing.

Have got a lot planned for this week as far as burning calories. I've upped my walking time and mileage and I've upped my calisthenics. Plus have to mow the grass this week.... will do one section today and need to wait a couple of days to do the front yard.

Plateau!!

Saturday, June 04, 2011

Well despite my best efforts at avoiding a 2nd plateau, it appears that I have hit a plateau. Am discouraged because thursday and friday combined I walked 13 miles.... normally I walk 4 1/2 to 5 miles a day. But the scale read that I'm up to 166.6 now. :( Wrong way!!

As far as eating, I stayed within my calorie range every day. I can't eat any less or I'll go into starvation mode... can't eat any more or I'll be gaining a whole lot more.

Might check what you are eating and change it up a bit .... and some of the info on here says the same exercise day in and out is also not a good idea ... just a thought ... you have lost SOOOO much weight ... congratulations.

Plateaus stink.... been there, hope I never have another one! Remember to use your visual cues - looser clothes, how you feel, etc. while you battle through this time.

Keep doing the work and you will succeed and push though this!
