Week 2!

Great weekend! Lots of planning, grocery shopping, and on target!! Hit the gym, bag is packed for tomorrow, and lunch is ready once again. Monday is usually an easy day to plan for. It's the rest of the week that drags me down when I come home exhausted. I have plans for the other days, so we shall see if things work out! I'm looking forward to having the kids home this weekend!

This begins the first full week of "Empty Nest" for us.. This gives me the wonderful opportunity to focus on my health and well-being. My bag is packed and ready to go into the car in the morning. I will be heading to the gym right after work. My healthy lunch is packed and ready for the morning. It's so easy to get sucked into the crazy schedule that daily life brings. But now is the time to MAKE the time for me. The future of my family depends on it!!

February 6 - Day 6 of 90 Day Challenge

Things are moving right along! The official kick-off/weigh in took place at the gym on Sunday. I was devastated to see 239 on the scale. But I decided that admitting it is the first step. Going public is the second. I have been telling everyone I know that I am participating in this challenge. I figure the more people that know, the more accountable I will be!! I met with a personal trainer at the gym and we discussed goals, history, etc. I set a goal to try to lose 10% of my body weight in 90 days. That works out to about 2 pounds a week. Totally reasonable!! My husband has made a plan to go to the gym with me twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays. I have a class every Tuesday too, which varies from week to week. I will also go one day over the weekends, which gives me at least 4 days each week at the gym. Other days I will work out at home. I feel good about the plans in place!

  


Day 2 - 90 Day Challenge

Day 2 into the 90 Day challenge and I feel like things have been just the same. I am going to work, coming home, cooking, cleaning, etc. But there is one difference. I have made movement a priority. Taking baby steps like walking the track when I take my students out to recess, walking the dog instead of just letting her out in the yard. I have always liked being active. I feel like I am typically fairly active in my daily life. But it is the above and beyond that I really need to focus on. Once I get home from my day at school, all I want to do is sit down because I have been running with my students all day long. My day usually runs from 6:30 am to about 6:30 pm, then I have another couple of hours of paper work at night. If I would just make it a priority to spend even a few more minutes moving, I know I would see better results and feel better in the long run.
It's only been a short time, but I feel like there has been an internal attitude change. I've worked hard to plan ahead with my meals, especially packing my lunch. The real challenge starts Sunday, at my initial weigh-in. Then the fun really begins!!! The intensity will really pick up! I am up to the challenge!!

  


90 Day Challenge

Today begins a 90 Day Challenge sponsored by my gym. I have signed up. I have made a plan. I have stocked my kitchen. I am ready for the challenge!!! I am planning to keep things simple to really help solidify the habits I KNOW I need to get back in place.
1. I will plan and track my meals every day.
2. I will drink my water.
3. I will get a minimum of 15 minutes of additional activity each day.
4. I will blog about my experiences at least twice a week.
