Back on the horse!

After another back injury, I decided I'd had it and would try Beck Diet Solution again. That was seven weeks ago, and I've lost almost ten pounds. I think this is actually doable!

I'd started BDS about two years ago, and just wasn't ready for it. Now, it was like reading it with different eyeballs. I was in a completely different place psychologically this time. I'm pretty excited.

Good afternoon, everyone!

Not much to say, really, but felt like I should check in.

Simply Filling is awesome. Just for the record. And Hacker's Diet Online is awesome too. Using the pretty graph that Hacker's Diet gives me, I can see that my weight is plummeting after being on Simply Filling since around August 13.

Thinking about maintenance, even though I have about thirty or so pounds to go. My wife and I were discussing becoming Weight Watchers lifetime members. That sounds like a pretty great and motivating goal.

  


Zero-Point Coffee

I'm on Weight Watchers' Simply Filling diet now, and don't want to spend any of my weekly points (49 of them in all) on coffee, so I wanted to make my daily coffee zero points.

There's a nice cafe at work, and the prices and quality are really good. However, while they have soy milk, they only have sweetened soy milk. For the time being, that's out for me (a la Simply Filling), so I brought some unsweetened vanilla soy milk from Westsoy. Zero points!

The cafe steamed the milk, so I could just add my stevia, and I was all set. Now, because my soy milk is in the refrigerator, I need to heat it up in our microwave. Slightly more work and time, but I get to save my points for other things now.

Olive Oil Dispenser

I am trying out the canned olive oil used for cooking spray. I have been using a Misto olive oil sprayer/dispenser for years, but might be liking this one a lot more. Unfortunately, that just creates more waste, using a bunch of canned olive oil. (Doesn't it?)

The things I like about the cooking spray are that you don't have to pump it constantly, and the spray seems much more evenly distributed. I have only used it once, so I don't know if I have a taste preference yet.

  


Bringing Lunch to Work

So far, bringing lunch to work this week has been pretty great. The great things about it are:

The containers are great.

They are flat, 3-ounce (or so) vented plastic containers from IKEA. They refuse to leak! The lid is deep, so the edge of the container fits deeply into it, creating a really good seal. The container is important, because I commute via public transportation with my (also great) Chrome Bag, and I really don't want a soupy mess in my bag. Just to be safe, I put the IKEA container in a freezer bag.

There is enough food for breakfast & lunch

Because my meals from Weight Watchers' Simply Filling diet are so dense, there is plenty of food for both breakfast and lunch; I don't have to bring a lot of stuff back and forth to work.

Great nutritional value with fewer calories

I felt like I ate a ton of food, and I enjoyed eating it, but it was only 1,427 calories. Lots of quinoa, beans, onion, and fresh fruit.

Saving money

This food is cheap! I'm eating canned beans now, but want to transition to cooking lots of them every weekend to have throughout the week. In addition to beans: brown rice, quinoa, salsa, and vegetable condiments.

No crashing after lunch

I have historically been averse to eating lunch at work, mostly because I felt full, sluggish, and sleepy afterward, even when I only had a little. Apparently, the type of food makes all the difference. I didn't really believe it until I tried these kinds of foods. (Ultra Simple Diet is another good one with good food choices.)

Anyone else try Simply Filling or Ultra Simple Diet?

    Sounds like you are making some great changes to your diet. Clean eating is always the way to go. Everyday my hubby takes a big cooler with lots of containers of healthy food to work whether he is in the office or traveling on business. It keeps him energized and feeling good! I am not familiar with the Simply Filling or Ultra Simple Diet but it sounds as if they promote a lot of fiber and fresh foods. Keep up the great work!
