Made it through a Saturday

Sunday, June 17, 2007

Saturdays are usually my hard time because I sit around and watch Little League baseball all day, snacking on sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds and whatever else is available. Todays games were both close by so I only had a small amount of beef jerkey during the second game. I went for a run today. It was so stinkin hot, I honestly wondered if I would make it through. I wanted to stop and walk about halfway through, but I stuck it out and ran the whole way. It was the first outing in my modified skirt and it was wonderful. I didn't pick my shorts out once. I'll probably have to add on a few more miles to make up for the calories I'm saving. Tomorrows Father's day and my husband is requesting pancakes. I'll have to put fruit on mine instead of syrup.

Been about 2 weeks

Thursday, June 14, 2007

I've been doing this about 2 weeks. It is very addicting. I'm fascinated by numbers anyway so to see the calories in and calories out works for me. I've been measuring my portion sizes for the last few days and I'm not really surprised by any of it. I guess I was pretty good at eyeballing sizes, just not calorie counts. My little scale has come in handy though, especially when measuring cheese. I really need to start getting more consistent with the cardio though. Work has gotten in the way the last few days. Tomorrow I'm going on a bike ride. Yeah

Dusting off the scale

Tuesday, June 12, 2007

I dusted off the scale I bought a while back. It is a very valuable tool when your trying to be more precise about serving sizes. I'm going to be diligent about portion sizes until I get a handle on what they look like by sight. So far I don't think I've been too far off. Went for a run today without my skirt so I had to improvise. My sister bought me a Terry wrapper for my birthday a while back so I put that on over a pair of short running tights. I thought it would not be very comfortable but it was, so now I have 2 running options. Woohoo

I need a pair of cat handcuffs and I need them right away.

Now that I've got your attention here goes my daily blog. Did really well calorie wise today. I started my second phase of the sparkpeople plan. Now I am going to measure my portion sizes. I am already fairly assured that there is where my problem is. It will be interesting to see how off I am on serving sizes. I have a small scale I bought a while back so I can be pretty accurate. I went for a 20 mile bike ride yesterday. I had a head wind on the first half and a rockin' tail wind going home. It was a tough ride. I am preparing for the annual MS 150 thats going to be held on the last weekend in June. I'm going to try and do the 100 miles the first day. I did it last year. It wasn't that bad. But I am a year older and a few pounds heavier so that will count against me, especially in the hills. I'm going to go for a run in the morning. Hopefully I will get my skirt soon.

I'm in Little League hell

Sunday, June 10, 2007

I just got back from a little league baseball tournament that my 12 year old plays in. I got to looking at my calorie intakes for the week and noticed a significant spike on the weekends. That's due to those weekend baseball double headers. I spend 6 hours in the sun and of course I have to eat sunflower and pumpkin seeds, and pretty much anything else I pack. This weekend we were in Idaho. I have got to get serious about packing some fruit and veggies to munch on. I'm glad that I have been diligent about tracking my calories on this site because I can see exactly where and when my weak times are. We stayed in a motel in Rexburg, Idaho where apparently there was a geologist convention going on. Saturday morning we were at the continental breakfast and one of the geologists walks in with what looks like a donut box filled with what looked like delicious bear claws. He said, "Does anyone want any of these before I throw them out?" I looked around and nobody other than the geologists seemed that interested. I was about to tell him that I was VERY interested in one when I realized they weren't bear claws at all but ROCKS! Man I wanted them to be bear claws. Oh well. I won the running skirt I was bidding on from ebay. I can't wait to get it. I will have to post my review after I take it for a test run.

Hang in there! I missed you over the weekend but then last night I saw that you were all updated. Weekends are going to be most difficult time too. This weekend I did okay because Richard didn't get home until Saturday, we had the kids (which means we eat at home as opposed to eating out) and then Sunday I told Richard about Sparkpeople so now he's all fired up and counting his calories! He wants to run the Boston Marathon. I'm feeling pretty good. I put one of my favorite t-shirts on this morning and it feels looser around the middle! I needed that because I woke up this morning at 5:30 to go to the gym and as I was getting ready I was seriously wondering why I was doing all this! I love you.
