Wonderful Little Evening 11-4-2012

Monday, November 05, 2012

We had our little get- together last night and it was so much fun! I was exhausted by the end of the night though. Lots of work, but it was worth it. So here's the order of events. About two months ago, after our DC, a sister in our hall came up to me and suggested we do a little something with our young ones. Great idea! we started on the practicing right away. The kids learned a couple of songs, and rehearsed a little mini- drama that we let everyone in the congregation know about. Most of the kids were there every Sunday, after meeting to practice too. They really got excited about the whole thing. Then came the costumes and props. The excitement became almost too much for them, and all the kids wanted to have a part.

Then the event itself. One of our sisters had a great idea. The kids took their crayons and colored pencils to work and made up about 50 invitations to pass out among the congregation. Everyone was included.

We started out with dinner, followed by the kids performance. They sang song #120 Listen, Obey, and Be Blessed, then the drama, Which was based on Story # 77 in the My Book of Bible Stories. We started with a modern story of a young girl on the first day in a new school, where she was nervous about the flag salute, and she wondered what it must have been like for the three young Hebrews. The kids all went back and changed into their costumes, and did the scene with the Hebrews and the fiery furnace, then back change out of the costumes, and back into the class room. It was really cute. We then sang the song #88 as a group.

EVERYONE had so much fun. I haven't been able to see the video yet, but I am hoping to get it at the meeting Tuesday. I can't wait to see it. I did have a friend taking pictures with my camera, so here are some of the pictures. I made all the costumes except the one with the leaves.

Here they are singing song #120

Back to wardrobe for a quick change.

Our brother in charge of the event. His wife read the story while the kids were changing.

Grandma made the helmets.

We did a little photo shoot afterwards.

The spears and swords were done by the bro in charge.

I was really getting tired of having my picture taken.

Yay! Those little people will never forget it. It will be something they will draw on and think about over the coming great tribulation. I can just imagine how happy Jehovah, Jesus and the angels were to watch the process. You will be blessed for all your efforts. It was SO worth all the time you put into it.

Outstanding! You and all the brothers and sister involved are to be applauded, as well as the children involved! No doubt a very encouraging, joyful and spiritually uplifting event. No doubt all the parents were very proud of there inheritance from Jehovah! emoticon emoticon emoticon
Events like this as well as small get togethers in most congregations went on the wane after the book study arrangement became coupled with our midweek meeting as the Bible study. Note however the direction for field service groups in last weeks service meeting was encouraging us to do things such as this again(they never really wanted us to stop)especially with our field service groups. You have done a fine thing in Jehovah's eyes!

Best Weekend Ever!!!! Well, Saturday Anyway. 10-23-2012

Tuesday, October 23, 2012

Hi Everyone!
Sorry I haven't been around the last couple of days. I was so busy. Saturday a bunch of us from the congregation drove up to Ione, WA to go for a train ride and see the beautiful Fall colors. It turned out to be very good weather wise, even though there was a threat of rain. we managed to not have one drop hit us while we were up there. Our adventure started at 6:45 when I met up with my group and we drove 3 hours to get there. Many of the friends wanted to go in the warm cars that were enclosed, but not sirree. I wanted to ride in an open car, so I could get lots of neat pictures. Eventually I won over almost everyone from our congregation, and we ended up having so much fun. In fact almost everyone in our car was a witness. It was very refreshing for me. I kept telling everyone that I was born outdoors, so I loved the cool weather. We ended up meeting a sister from another congregation, and her husband. They knew one of our brothers, who has just recently moved here. They were in our car too. There was not a sad face in our car. Once the ride was over we had our lunch there at the depot, and headed back home. I was floating I was so happy.

The sad reality is that I don't get many days like this. I had to come home eventually and go back to my current existence. It makes me want to be in that New World even more, so that all my days can be happy ones.

Here are some of the pictures.

This is the couple who I rode up with. Our driver will be coming up.

Look at these happy faces.

Nothing could have wiped the smile off Brenda's face.

My congregation grandbabies. I have no biological ones. :)

These two opted to ride in the warm car.

Running to catch the train.

Look at that view.

Blue skies smiling at me.

We found the perfect home for Mike, a new move in to our congregation.

I thought he might prefer this one instead. :)

See, More smiles!!!

She rode in the warm car. :(

Our new brother, Mike, with the friends from another congregation near Spokane. Mike is on the right.

Not sure what he did, but she's telling him about it. :)

Another shot of my riding partners.

And finally me. :)

Best day ever.

October Already!!!! 10-14-2012

Sunday, October 14, 2012

I know I have been away for awhile. I have no good excuses either. Any way.....I hope I can do better about keeping in communication. I have been having a pretty busy summer, and now that Fall is here again I am anticipating Winter and all of it's challenges. We had snow on October 3rd this year!!! A first for me. I have been walking regularly, and have also been riding my bike a lot this year too. Today I walked 3+ miles in under an hour, so I know I am doing pretty good. It is nice hopping in here and seeing everyone doing so well. emoticon

Cinnamon- I didn't get to cross country ski last year. :( I couldn't find anyone to go with, and I didn't want to go on my own of course. I might this year, but for sure I am going to maintain my walking routine even in the snow. I have snow shoes, and have only used them once, and that was the first winter I lived here. I fell and hurt myself, so didn't like it any more. LOL. I will try again.

Claudem- You should definitely get some snow shoes. Do you get a lot of snow up there?

Thanks everyone for your encouragement.

I would LOVE to have snow here! We had a few fantastic cold days. had all the windows open welcoming all of it with open arms. We got back in the low 100's this week. (BOO)

Glad to see you! I have missed you! Did you try cross country skiing last winter with your new skis? I was wondering if you liked it or not.

That's awesome! It's amazing how getting into a routine of exercise, like walking, makes us crave more. I sure never expected to feel that way.

I live in northern Ontario, Canada. It is getting mighty cold here, too. I'm thinking I am going to invest in some warm, but light, winter boots. I am hoping to go snowshoeing this winter.

Warm thoughts,
Claude emoticon

    I love it!
When I was heavier, when I stepped on a brand new scale I had gotten, my son said in a computer voice, "One at a time please!" NOT FUNNY then, but now it's a little bit funny!
