The Craziest of All Blogs Ever

Wednesday, July 18, 2012

Being a typical guy, I can read women’s minds. I know exactly what all y’all are thinking. All thoughts. All anxieties. Everything.

Things like:
-“He can’t really read my mind.”
-“Will I ever truly reach my goal?”
-“Winn Dixie or Piggly Wiggly”
-“Justin Beiber’s next hit will probably be a remake of THIS song”
www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMG4QSrZhr8

But this week I will call out what you’re really thinking:
-“Trent’s crazy revolution that’s crazy and revolution-ey can’t possibly get either crazier OR any more revolution-ey”

Well, here’s the “straight dope” (as the kids say):

Not only can it get both. It has officially gotten both. Up until now it has been a break-neck 4 exercise sessions per week of 10-18 minutes per sessions and a mind-blowing 1-6 vegetables per week (per week, not per day.)

No diggity (I assume that the kids still say that too)

Even though I don’t see the world handling more craziness or revolution-ness, I am about to unleash (long drum roll)

The “m0t!!”
(note the crazy revolution style font. Small caps, zero instead of “o”. I wish SP had type writer fonts)

Last December, I reviewed my motivations for being on SparkPeople. They were the following:
- Freedom from sugar and Salt
- Improve flexibilty
- Able to buy a standard suit rather than separates
- Be able to wear a pair of swimming trunks to the beach rather than cargoes and a t-shirt
- Be able to be there more for my SparkFriends and less for myself on this site.

The fourth is already a bust for this year and all of the others are on the verge of dying at this point. Really there is only one thing stopping me and it’s the first. Freedom from sugar.

I believe that all of the other desires will be impossible, unless I achieve that one.

So my motivation (or m0t) is freedom from sugar addiction.

Peace out shorties!! (see? up-to-date language again)

    Sugar. Yes. My achilles heel as well. If I stay away from it, I don't NEED it. If I have even a little, I become obsessed with it. May as well be a drug for me.....need to stay away!!!!

Weekly Weigh-in (07.14.12). I Gained!!!! w00ttt!!!!!!!11

Saturday, July 14, 2012

Goal Stats: 195.0@15%

Last Week: 204.0@22%

This Week: 204.2@22%

+0.2!!!! Yayyyy!!!

I am really happy about this. For the past six weeks, I have been watching my weight climb up since starting the crazy revolution that's crazy and revolution-ey.

When I was down at 196-199, it was artificial. It was do huge workouts for a week, burnout, Eat really well for the day or so before the weigh-in, and then splurge on the weekend after.

These past 7 weeks, my revolution has involved 4 small but consistent workouts (and extra one or two if I feel like it, but only if I feel like it). The only nutrition goals have been eat one more vegetable per week than the previous week (as of today I'm up to 6 and already had one).

Going up by only 0.2 pounds is like hitting a plateau of sorts, but at the top. I think over the next few weeks, I will probably stay about the same (maybe gain and lose a pound here and there).

I kind of figured I'd go back up to 205.

As the vegetable intake continues to increase and the workouts hit the 25 minute mark, the weight will start to come off again. Hopefully slowly, while I continue to work on more exercise and vegetables. I would love to lose 0.2-0.4 pounds each week over the next 15-20 weeks. That would be awesome.

You know. The crazy revolution can't get any more crazy than it is...

...

(ominous voice) or can it? (end ominous voice)

Stay tuned for the craziest blog in the history of crazy blogs.

So What Would a Smart Alec Say to These (Part V)

Wednesday, July 11, 2012

OK, so it has been wayyyy too long since I've done one of these.

Tonight....The "just sayin'" edition.

1. WERE YOU NAMED AFTER ANYONE?
* Yes, a guy named Trent Dreamer. Look hard, quizzie, you might be able to see it.

2. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU CRIED?
* Earlier today when my doctor said that I was fat and I told him I wanted a second opinion and he said, “OK, you’re UGLY too” (rim-shot)

3. DO YOU LIKE YOUR HANDWRITING?
* Dunno, can’t read it.

4. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE LUNCH MEAT?
* processed Batloaf. Omnomnomm-sies

5. DO YOU HAVE KIDS?

6. IF YOU WERE ANOTHER PERSON WOULD YOU BE FRIENDS WITH YOU?
* No, I would be secret lovers with me. That way the girl who would be dating me if I was me would be really confused. Her name would probably be Courtney. Just sayin’

7. DO YOU USE SARCASM A LOT?
* (rolls eyes) Me? MOI? Sarcasm?…. MAYbe sometimes. It’s not like the title of this blog might elucidate this.

8. DO YOU STILL HAVE YOUR TONSILS?
* I eBayed them to buy chocolate once. It’s what they call a “rock bottom moment” at those meetings.

9. WOULD YOU BUNGEE JUMP?

21. WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TO RIGHT NOW?

** Note the crazy revolution-ey style of the blog title **

So I'm now up to 17 minutes per exercise session (4x per week (more if I feel like it, but only if I feel like it))

My body is now in the full-score "I want more" mode. Part of me wants to give in and start doing much longer workouts at higher intensity and then burn out after a week or so (as I have traditionally done in the past). The revolution simply won't allow for it, though.

I am going for higher weights and higher cardio intensity (unless I feel like doing a lighter exercise or want to give the body a rest day).

I'm up a few pounds, but that's normal when one starts a regular exercise regimen. Not worried. I will start posting a weekly weigh-in blog next Saturday (Lord willing and me remembering)

Todays workout was:
*6 minutes of cardio (elliptical)
*5 minute kettlebell pyramid (10-12-14-12-10KG one minute swings)
*3 minutes of bicep curl bar ladders
- 12 reps - 45 pounds
- 10 reps - 55 pounds
- 06 reps - 65 pounds (parlez vous "ouch!"? lol)
*3 minutes of shoulder press bar ladders
- 12 reps - 40 pounds
- 10 reps - 50 pounds
- 06 reps - 60 pounds

The kettlebells seemed a little lighter than I thought. I might go up to 12-14-16-14-12 l8r this week. Dunno. Was kind of hoping to wait until next week.

Tomorrow, I plan to do
* 05 minutes rowing machine
* 11 minutes elliptical
* Back row ladder (not sure if I will do the machines or a one handed kettlebell version)

iViva la revoluccion!

Packing It In

Wednesday, July 04, 2012

(**Note I’ve been at the forefront of a crazy revolution that’s crazy and revolution-ey for the past 6 weeks. Exercise-wise, I started at 4 sessions per week @ 10 minutes per session. I’ve added 1 minute per session per week. I work out an extra session or two if I feel like it (but only if I feel like it). I’m more concerned about getting 4 sessions per week. If you’re interested in joining the crazy revolution please let me know. You know where my SparkPage is ;)

*::How I’ve Been::*
My body has wanted more recently, exercise-wise. Though I’m up a couple of pounds since the beginning of the revolution (expected. It will go back down), my exercise has become more regular.

*::Inner Dialogue::*
Today, my body was like:
“Trent, bastante with this this 16 minutes of speed-walking cr4p. I feel flabby”.

So I was like:
“OK, we go all out for the full 16 minutes today. Not a minute more”

My body was like:
“br1ng 1T! 0n”

*::Workout::*
So my workout was the following:
A) 5 minute on elliptical with handles

B) 3 sets of bicep curls (curl bar)
- 12reps x 30lbs
- 10reps x 40lbs
- 06reps x 50lbs

C) 3 sets of military presses (straight bar)
- 12reps x 30lbs
- 10reps x 40lbs
- 06reps x 50lbs

D) 5 one minute sets of two handed kettlebell swings (35 swings per set)
- 08 KG
- 10 KG
- 12 KG
- 10 KG
- 08 KG
(Next week it will be 10-12-14-12-10 KGs. Increasing slowly each week until it's 20-24-28-24-20 KGs)

Because I’m trying to pack as much as I can into each workout because they are short, I’m going heavier on the poundage and maximizing upper-body workouts by doing two-handed exercises for the most part. My body wants more exercise-wise (knew that it would eventually). So I’m packing as much into the 16 minutes as I can.

That being said, I will not conform to the norm by upping my workouts to 45-60 minutes 5-6 times a week overnight. If my body wants a whole 17 minutes of exercise at a time, it will have to wait until this Saturday. I will make each of the 16 minutes count this week. I will build strength now and work on endurance later this year when I’m up to 40 minutes per day.

If I feel like I really want to exercise once or twice more this week I will do so. Otherwise I’m done for the week. I got my four sessions in.

Making the most of it.

    You know, this theory sounds like it just might work. I haven't looked at exercise from this angle. It's 30 minutes to an hour or nothing. But I'm thinking that last night while I was craving a burger king whopper for 3 hours, I might have been able to solve my dilemma in a positive way by just going out to the gym for 15 minutes or so. After feeling like I did something positive for myself, why would I want to ruin it with a calorie-gut-busting whopper???

TRACEYROCK 7/8/2012 12:03AM

    I will say that I am impressed with your determination to stick with your revolution. I would have a hard time stopping at the 16 minutes if I really wanted to work out and my body felt like I needed to be pushed more. But it sounds like the revolution is working for you because you are working outmore consistently. I haven't tackled that hurdle yet!

DEBBICZ 7/5/2012 3:01PM

    I like how you are making each minute count. Sometimes if I'm feeling lazy I'll do the exercise anyway but with not enough effort as if I really wanted to. It doesn't really count toward improving if I don't have the all out effort. Nice thoughts on this and I'll take this into consideration next time I'm not putting it all in!
