Having A Hard Time

Friday, December 04, 2009

Lately, I have been feeling kind of depressed. I am extremely stressed out with working two jobs and going to school full-time. Finals are coming up and I just can't seem to find the time to study. I have been exercising some, but not as much as I would like. I have also turned to food to find comfort. Ice cream, chips... things that I shouldn't be eating; especially after surgery and being in the hospital. I need to get back on track, but I'm having a hard time doing it. I feel like there is so much going on that I just want to step away and not do it for a while.

It is frustrating I guess. I am just not sure what to do anymore. emoticon

I'm having the stress of finals too, yet I don't have as much on my plate as you (No pun intended.) Hang in there it will be worth it in the end (at least that is what every one tells me) Hopefully you can have a little break at least from classes over the Holidays. Take care of yourself. emoticon

I remember those days from my master's program a few years ago. SO stressful! I ate and ate and ate. All I can tell you is to just try and power your way through. I always found that I made it much more difficult in my mind than it really ever was.

Praying for you. Hang in there.

Aww sweetie, I wish i could be there to help you! I'm not sure what your jobs are like but maybe some of your coworkers can help you study in a fun way, like making it out of a game. I agree make sure you get enough sleep and I would also figure out whats more important to you right now while you're finishing up for finals and focus on that. emoticon emoticon emoticon I'm here for you if you need me!

I remember the days of having to take finals and oh how they are stressful. I have also worked two jobs at one time too and know how hard that can be. Wishing you the best of luck on your finals. Just know that your SP friends are all here to give you support.

I don't know much about you, but I do know what it's like to take finals and be super busy with other stuff!! I have 5 tests next week :(

The best advice I know of is to budget your time - it's hard but that way hopefully you won't be cramming too much before your tests! I like to write out my schedule on a markerboard so I can stick to it as best as possible.

Maybe, if you have a second, try planning out your food ahead of time so you don't make choices you regret later! Then again, you've been at this awhile so you probably know aaaall that already. Good luck with next week!!

one of the hardest things to do when you are stressed is to get enought sleep. And one of the things that will make you most stressed is being too tired to think clearly, and efficiently. No matter how tempting it is try to get to bed on time. the time you are awake the next day will be more efficient and satisfying. It also makes you prioritize when you know there is the deadline of sleep.

Keep your chin up - winter break is almost here.

I made my first pie!

Thursday, November 26, 2009

I was assigned pie duty for Thanksgiving this year. I have never made a pie in my life until today. I also took on the task of making the crust from scratch! Let's just say the first couple of hours were NOT fun! I was frustrated and didn't want to keep going. But, I could not walk into the house without pie for Thanksgiving, so I had to keep going.

Five hours later, I have three pumpkin pies and an amazing looking cherry pie! I was very proud of myself. It is kind of like my weightloss... it is hard and I know it's hard. There are times when I want to give up, but I have to be accountable to myself.

I loved how baking turned into a life lesson!

Way to go!!!! I'll bet that were yummy and also looked beautiful! I love to make pies for family gatherings but must confess that me and the Pillsbury roll-out pie crusts are dear friends! LOL!

I have to tell you a funny one though... when my oldest daughter was living on her own for the first time she decided to make pies for Thanksgiving too. However, her idea of "making pies" was to go get some frozen Mrs. Smith's. She put them in the oven but decided that the foil pans would catch on fire and burn down her apartment. So... she took the pies out of the pans and put them on a cookie sheet. Needless to say, they fell apart all over the cookie sheet. What a dork! We have never let her forget it either!!! Hysterical!

Glad you had great success and that you also learned something! That makes it a double win!

Hey everyone- I just wanted to give you a little update. I went to the ER after my doctor called. It turned out that it wasn't urgent to get my gallbladder out, but I had to stay a couple days because I was extremely dehydrated, so they pumped fluids into me for a while.

Well, they decided to do an endoscopy which is where they stick a camera down your throat to see if there is anything wrong in your stomach. They are doing that to check to see if I have an ulcers. If it is clear, then they will take out my gallbladder next week. I am sick of hospitals and doctors, but I know that once this is all taken care of I will no longer be in pain.

I thank you all for your thoughts, comments, and prayers. I am going to be A-OK, but right now I don't feel so hot. Luckily, I have an amazing BF who rented me tons of movies while I take it easy. I will be back soon! No worries!

I understand and empathize with your pain. I had my gallbladder removed in 2001 and it solved the problem. That pain is brutal! Hang in there...the surgery was not difficult to recover from.

Best of luck with your Gastro, I work in that department and if it is an ulcer they are easily fixed, I had one a couple of years back and they put me on a course of tablets and after 4 more gastros they had gone.

Out of Commission

Wednesday, November 18, 2009

I just wanted all my Spark friends and family to know that I am heading to the ER in an hour to have a cholecystecotomy (removal of my gallbladder.) I am not sure how long I will be there and what will really happen, but I am letting you know so you don't think I am leaving the Spark. I'm not! I am just getting better.

I love you all (ha I am afraid of surgeries ;) so keep up all your hard work! xoxo -Andrea

I'm so sorry to hear about your gallbladder! I had mine removed earlier this year because of the unbearable pain. I promise you, it will make you feel better in the long run. The best part is that once it is removed, you can eat anything! Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

I'm just in too much pain

Monday, November 16, 2009

I recently went to the doctor because I have been extremely nauseous lately. I get this ridiculous migraine headache and a horrible body ache. I have also been very thirsty and always need something to drink. I also have a nagging pain in my abdomen area. I thought it would just go away, but then I began to worry. Diabetes runs in my family and I figured that is what was going on.

About a week ago, I went in to urgent care because I just couldn't the nausea. I was not able to eat and when I did eat, it just got worse. The urgent care doctor was not very receptive to what I was saying. When he was pushing on my stomach, he pushed on the right side of my abdomen which cause an excruciating pain! I told him that really hurt. So, he ran some tests. Did some blood work and brought me back into his office. Everything was fine he said. He knew, though, that I was having a problem with my gallbladder, but he didn't even do a test for that! I was so confused. Then he just sent me home and said that I was fine!

I told myself that I was worrying about nothing. Maybe I am just fine. But, I can guarantee that I have gallstones. I have every symptom and my mom told me that she has had gallstones and that the way I am feeling is exactly how she felt. I can barely eat anything without my abdomen hurting. It is unbearable. I have had three knee surgeries and I have never been in this kind of pain before. I was talking to someone and she told me that it is common in obese people to have problems with their gallbladders. I, however, am not obese. Yes, I am overweight, but I am not obese for my height. I didn't know what to say to that. I have a doctor's appointment again tomorrow, but I am just worried the doctor is going to say I am fine. I know I am not fine. Something needs to be done to stop this pain. It is making me miserable. emoticon
