Hmmmm I wonder

Friday, February 03, 2012

The funny thing is the Dr put me on this diet 4 shakes a day and a modest diet which is in my blog named the diet--well it is meant to be 1000-1200 calories-- well that was the amount I stayed around before so how can I lose 50 to get surgery when I am eating nearly the same calories? I guess he assumes I was eating way over that and expected me to lose a ton fast-- next appointment is next week and if I am not down considerably I will ask for a diet change-- I really want this surgery! If I am "allowed" i would prefer mainly a liquid diet to drop the weight fast! I know I can do it and if I am only allowed liquids I can do it-- I tend to overeat when allowed food especially when I am tired!

Hi Tracy -- The doctor is *probably* concerned not only about your total calories, but also about your protein and other nutrients, which can be controlled much better with shakes.

Hang in there. If you think you'll do better with just shakes, ask about that. In the alternative, if you (like me) find it easier to make and stick with one decision than facing the multiple choices of meal times, how about asking him if you can go vegetarian for this period? That would allow you to keep on with fruits and veggies, which he may think you need, and avoid the higher-fat, higher calorie choices like meat, cheese, and cookies. emoticon

I know when I'm struggling I go back to a week of shakes. Making that single decision (I'm only having shakes and skim milk and iced tea for the next week) is easier than picking healthy choices at every meal when I'm having trouble, and there are bad choices easily available.

Do not lose heart...do what you are told and let the Dr figure it out...that is what you are paying him for...we all seem to forget that when we deal with doctors! You will be able to do this...hang in there! We are all supporting you!

For now listen to the Doctor & give him the benefit of the doubt. A week is not long enough to see if it's working. Give it time.

I'm here for you.

Nice to see you blogging regularly.
Hope to see you again this year

It sounds like you Dr is having you do something similar to what I am doing. But if you don't think it is working for you let him know your concerns.

Hope today is a better day.

I think your doctor has his reasons for doing it the way he is doing! .
You must have sufficent Vitamins and Minerals to nourise your body.. you also need the fiber in your foods.
Be guided by what he says my friend ..
It won't happen overnight but it will happen!!

YAY it's almost quitting time

Wednesday, February 01, 2012

For those of you who do not know, I am a telephone operator in a hospital at night-- 11pm-730am-- I LOVE LOVE LOVE my job~ I work alone from 1230-7 and it is nice-- of course it means I am responsible for it all and have nobody to blame mistakes on, lol! If I could make the money during the day that I make at night, I would do it because I know I don't get sufficient sleep!

DO you love your job?? How many people can say that they do? I am hoping that once I have my surgery and dump some weight I can do some more homecare cases which I truly love doing.

I am currently not a huge fan of my job, but it has it's perks. Like all the free eggs I can eat! My husband and I work seven days a week on a chicken farm, and we have gone as long as four months without a weekend off. But it works for us for now. :)

Not a lot to say today

Monday, January 30, 2012

I think it is so neat that there are so many people out there who have such interesting blogs and mine can be so boring, lol! Today I really don't have anything to report at all... Just chilled out with my daughter since she was off then when I was falling asleep on the sofa watching tv with her she said she was going to her room (I SNORE) so I got up and went in to bed too.. and now I am back at work trying to drink my tea and warm up-- 33 out there tonight!

Things are looking up

Sunday, January 29, 2012

After my weigh in 2 weeks ago when I was up on the scale I felt so defeated-- drinking shakes and eating the assigned foods I could not understand my failure! I am trying hard to stick with it and I will admit on weekends I go a little off like actually having bread with my breakfast-- nothing CRAZY... I HOPE IN THE WEEKS TO COME THOSE FEELINGS THAT I NEED SOMETHING GO AWAY!! I know we are supposed to eat to live not live to eat but sometimes I feel like I have to have what I am missing... but it will all be worth it in the end I am sure!

You can do it Tracy, hang in there, it only gets better! I had a long stall weeks 2-4 in the very beginning (which is completely normal) and I got discouraged too, but then the weight started dropping after that. You will see results in no time at all I promise. My surgeon always told me that I would lose the weight, that I didn't really have a choice. At the time, it was hard for me to believe his words, but he was right. It DOES come off eventually, we've just got to have patience (which is the hard part!). Take care, Sheryl

I understand. The longer you avoid things like the simple carbs, the less you want them. But that takes a while.

You're doing this, Tracy! Any time you make a food totally off limits, that seems to be the thing you crave! If there's a way to get a very small amount of something that you like occasionally without having a whole package of it in the house, that can really make a difference in you sticking to your plan. For me, instead of bringing ice cream into the house, I try to get a small amount of ice cream while we're out somewhere, so I can have it and not bring it back into the house where I'll binge. Deprivation simply doesn't work and leads to binge eating, but you already know this! Wishing you all the best as you continue to lose!
