Blog assignment on "Cool"

Tuesday, June 07, 2011

Post 1 blog per week on why Spark People and/or your experience on your journey to fitness is "COOL"

Hmmm well if I stick with it I know at my next reunion I will be one of the "cool kids"

Being overweight most of my life has put me as the butt of a lot of jokes-- oh and YEAH speaking of butts, I always had a big one even when I was thin-- talk about splitting my pants many times at school and how embarassed I was! UGH! I was never one of the cool kids but now, I am taking comtrol, releasing weight and no matter how much I weigh, I KNOW I am one of the cool kids becasue I LOVE MYSELF UNCONDITIONALLY! Now that is cool!

I am SO happy you are going to see your doctor. My SIL passed away from a heart attack when she was 54 and she was about your size. She refused to go to the doctor because "all he will do is bit#h about my weight." She told me she was to afraid to have gastric bypass. She cooked all the time for my BIL who is like my husband and can eat anything and everything and NEVER gains a pound. She ate the mashed potatoes/gravy & fried chicken, etc. and gained and gained. (I'm sure she had low thyroid like most women over 40.) She was about 160# when they got married in 1970. Well, she's gone and my BIL has had a gf for the last 8 yrs that he takes out on the week-ends and they have a fun time. I wish my SIL had went to the doctor and taken care of herself.

Wow, hope you can get the fluid issue taken care of ASAP. I've been having fluid issues, too, so I know how it is. My gain was well over 10 pounds. With all the travelling and everything going on I haven't been weighing myself daily like the doctor told me to, and I was shocked when I saw how much I had gained. Like you, it was starting to affect my breathing (I have Diastolic Heart Failure).

I'm on a sliding scale with my Lasix--if I show a couple pounds gain in a day I can add another one (my normal dose is 3 20mg tablets per day, so I can take 4 tablets). If I gain more than five pounds in 24 hours I'm supposed to go to the Dr. or ER. My doctor told me that we can gain as much as 8 pounds of fluid before we even notice swelling.

Take care my friend!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

PIZZA UGH!

Thursday, June 02, 2011

So my Nephew wanted pizza today-- Domino's has 5.99 pies so we ordered NO extras 2 -2 topping pizzas for 5.99 each-- so when it came to 18. 13 I asked if the extra went to the driver-- he said a portion of it did so I gave the guy 20.25 (well my Nephew answered door) I looked at the boxes and the total was 14.63.............UMMMMMM EXCUSE ME?? SO I called and rose a little heck-- OH yeah by now I was up for 20 hours and was tired! SO he said he would sent the guy back with the money-- I told him just to use it as a credit for our next pie-- he started to laugh-- I asked are you the manager? He said yes so I asked why was it funny- he said I can't credit you with a whole pizza for a $4.00 error-- so I said fine cheesy bread then I don't care... UGH I really can not stand RUDE service people!

Unfortunately, something seems to have been lost in translation when the younger generation was taught customer service. Its a shame that we have to rely on these people to take care of us when we're older. Scary thought!

I'm guessing he's young and his common sense hasn't kicked in yet. Goodness gracious! And yes, he could give you the whole pie credit! emoticon Some people just didn't arrive on planet earth with a full deck ... seems like Domino's got a full set of folks with the missing piece syndrome. Sorry he was working when you ordered pizza! Sure hope it tasted good!

wow! That was really rude! It's amazing to me how some people can work in the public like that and get away with it! Doesn't he know what customer service is? Keeping their customers? I'm sure there's more then just the one pizza place in town!

Choosing your battles

Wednesday, June 01, 2011

In life we are faced with so much at times that it can be overwhelming..I choose the most important things first and the less important things can wait. I am a procrastinator.. I admit it-- I just did my taxes in March for 4 years... yep FOUR.. Of course they owe me so I never let it worry me but I made a promise to myself to do it on time each year from now on.. I have a side business selling AVON which made my taxes harder to do and I have to go to an accountant.. I never know what I can deduct.. SO by waiting 4 years-- it has let me have the chance to get new windows in my house which will save me a lot in the long run.. If I have enough left over flooring will be done too-- 20 year old carpets that lived through a 4-24 yr old and 5 cats -- believe me I need it!

THen there is the nutrition issue-- don't ya hate when people ask "Can you eat that on your DIET?" UGH I give up I tell them we are living just like NORMAL people we need to do everything in moderation~ I also hate when people try to tell me what I should do to lose weight-- I KNOW how to I just choose to be lazy sometimes! LOL

I love the liberty we have to eat like normal people "should".

Being Diabetic limits some things, but mostly I choose healthy foods and it works for me.

I'm a planned procrastinator (see blog if you're interested). It sounds like you might be too. And, I can so relate to people asking if such and such is on my "diet." How many times do I have to say I'm not on a diet? It is a bit frustrating, but I definitely agree with lilangel. It doesn't matter what they think! Keep doing what you're doing! :)
