Wow! Middle of July already!

Monday, July 15, 2013

I know I been away for a while... not a lot to say but I was thinking-- how many are going to post today about the reveal of the new Twinkie (or return of)... How many will feel obligated to buy one?

I don't like to gear my blogs around food but cakes/cookies/sweets have been minimal since my surgery 15 months ago.. I feel wonderful and would never go back to who I was before.

My eating is geared towards protein first then veggies and fruits and then if I am still hungry, carbs.

My hurdle now is getting into an exercise routine..taking baby steps here!

No twinkies for me either! If I start on the sugar/carbs I go out of control. So when are you going to post pictures of the new you?? And, could you let me know, what kind of fruits do you eat? Some are high in carbs and sugar. As for me, it's usually berries. Take care, my friend..

Hi Tracey! I have been wondering about you lately and of how you are doing. Hadn't heard anything from you for awhile on team 300+. I happened to see that you commented on someones blog on my friend feed so thought I would stop in and say hi. I am proud of you for continuing your lifestyle change after the devastation of Sandy. I saw a segment on television about hurricanes and it showed Sandy. I think that people that do not live in those areas have no idea what you went through. I live in Wisconsin and after I hear about what happens in other parts of the world I have come to believe that Wisconsin is just about the safest place on earth. So I am proud of you my dear friend and I hope to hear a lot more about you and your journey in the future. Becky. emoticon

Not a twinkie fan HOWEVER saw adorable cupcakes that look like the minions from Despicable ME and they each use a half twinkie. (go ahead, google them). Now I want twinkies to make cute little cupcakes. I'm sure once I did I would need to eat them of course. Best to try to put it out of my mind.

Good to hear from you! I never was a Twinkie fan, and I'm also on a specialized diet now. The thought of a Twinkie wouldn't even cross my mind!
I work in a convenience store and my vendor told me they probably won't be very good anyway. The company that's making them ships them frozen, and they will have a stale taste.

Twinkies? Who cares?? Not me! Not you!
If you think about it, refraining from buying foods that support companies that don't really care about our health and only their profits means you are spending money far more ethically.

emoticon Trust me.... it won't taste as good as you remember. I haven't gotten one, and I don't intend on it. But I know from the past, that when I have broke down and eaten one, it wasn't nearly as good as it was when I was a kid. Our taste-buds get old, just like we do, and things taste different to us now, than when we were kids.

I just think of it as, I'm a grown up now, so I eat grown up food... that simple.

Congrats on your weightloss. Keep it up, and you'll be at goal before you know it!

I didn't know that Twinkies were returning. I never liked Twinkies so I won't be purchasing these. I need to start exercising too. It's a real hurdle for me. It is so hot and humid here. I get fatigued going outside and back in the house right away. We will have to motivate each other.

Baby steps ate fine, just remember to take them every day. Do you wear a pedometer? I do, 24/7. you just keep it in your pocket and it registers your steps accurately! Mine is made by Omron. It has a handy tether that you can connect to your clothing, to prevent loss!

You are doing really well Tracy, good on you. emoticon
With exercise slowly is good. Listen to your body and do what
it tells you. You might start off with five minutes one day and bit by bit you just build it up. Walking is great, and that is good to do what you are able to do. The more you do it the longer you will be able to walk for. and the easier it will be.
I don't think we have twinkees in NZ. But we have plenty of foods that we should not have too much off. We have great fruit too and vegetables. And good fresh drinking water. Even though I don't drink much water in this cold weather.
Keep up the amazing work Tracy emoticon emoticon

Coming out of my FUNK

Saturday, January 19, 2013

Since Sandy hit.. I guess I had some issues.. yes I was still taking weight off.... not as much as I should... but had no desire to do a lot of anything except work and sleep! I am feeling great .. the holidays are over now and these next two weeks look busy.. working right now 3pm-11pm as a coworker needed off... just had a call out for 7am-330pm shift so I will come back for that shift then back for the 11pm-730am shift.. all work and no play is not a lot of fun.

My "sleevie wonder" still talks to me a lot...I don't mind at all... I can eat most anything.. and my lip still trembles when it (my tummy) is saying DONE! lol Here is a recent pic of me... I will be coming around more need to get and stay on track! LOVE you all!

Looking good and making progress! A co-worker of mine had the same surgery back in Sept. and her weight isn't coming off as fast as she'd like, either, but at least you're headed in the right direction. Thought about you a lot with Sandy. Got back to Philly for Thanksgiving and just being back east was great but hard. I think my youth group is going to do a mission trip to NJ summer 2014 since we already had summer 2013 planned to do home repairs in TN. Hang in there. Glad you're back. I've been gone all fall dealing with my own funk, so I understand. Take care and keep Sparkin'!

1. Hurricane Sandy, having no power and internet, and then off and on for weeks, getting off track

2. The school shooting in Newtown, where I grew up and and in the school that I went to

3. After Christmas I got the flu, it was bad.

So, I have not felt my self since before Sandy, Always sleepy during the day, and I can't sleep at night.

I miss you, honey!!

I'm amazed by all of the sand. Having always lived inland and never near hurricane country I find it fascinating. I have only heard "the devastation" bits about all of the natural disasters that occur around the world but not anywhere near me. There have been the occasional "freak tornado" in the prairies over the years...like maybe 2 in my lifetime, and now that I live east and apparently on a fault line (!!), I've experienced two small earthquakes but they did little damage. A few bricks were loosened and fell out of our chimney but that was it. Not even one pot in the pottery was broken. So having no TV I've seen very few photos of the aftermath of these disasters. My prayers go out to everyone affected by Sandy...which turns out to be quite an appropriate name.
BTW, I am a Scrabble freak!!

Still no power but we are hopeful

Monday, November 05, 2012

Sandy put a whipping on us for sure.. but MY home is standing with no damage and my family and pets are well. Not like some other not so fortunate..

Here is my area:

I was in my email and got this :

Dear Tracy,

In the wake of Superstorm Sandy, I want to extend a hand during this difficult time on behalf of Sears Holdings Corporation.

In addition to the 100+ truckloads of supplies we are sending to the communities impacted by Sandy, we have added $10 in free Points to your SHOP YOUR WAY REWARDSSM account. Please use them toward whatever supplies you need from Sears and Kmart through November 8. It's a small gesture to help our SHOP YOUR WAY REWARDSSM Members.

Thank you, and stay safe.

I saw the National guard getting supplies form KMART across the street.. it was awesome! We were given water and ice today at a pick up point and I told my neighbors as well.

I hope u will get your power back on soon. When we had Hurricane IVAN here in Pensacola, Florida, we had none for 12 days. I'd bought a lot of batteries and we had gotten gas for the car, so we listened to the car radio for news. I know it can be very upsetting. We had roof damage. The storm surge in Pensacola was 43 feet and it took out the Escambia Bay Bridge, so we had a lot of damage, but we got our house repaired. We are four miles inland so we didn't have flood damage.

You must be tired, but if you have to endure a disaster, it's better knowing that you are contributing to the solution. Now....time to rest!!!

19 hours is a long, long shift -- it is so comforting to know that you can shower and have a bed to rest in immediately -- and not have to go out in the storm. And actually, why don't they schedule instead 8 hour shifts with a 6-hour rest time in between and let you rest there -- in the long run everyone would be working with more efficiency.

It will improve. It was just a storm, not Armageddon.

For that we have to wait until December 21.
