Sparkpeople Radio and The Hawaii Chair

I was listening to SparkPeople Radio this morning and had to laugh when the ladies were discussing infomercials. In their discussion, two "chairs" caught my attention...the Ab-lounger and the Hawaii Chair.

Okay, so I was desperate enough to order the Ab-lounger and after the first 6 weeks or so it was removed from my dining room area and hidden in the deep, dark recesses of my basement. That is...until just two weeks ago when I asked my husband to bring it up and set it on the front porch. I live in the middle of a 100 acre woods so I can work-out without anyone watching and I get to enjoy the birds at the feeders. So every third day I have been Ab-Lounging. It is actually a pretty good workout for me. I am disabled and still having difficulty after my transplant - so it is actually quite a good workout tool to help me recover muscle tone in my chest as well as abdomen. At least it sure feels like I am improving.

A discussion about the Hawaii chair made me curious as to what type of device this was. So I googled it and found a video from the Ellen DeGeneres show. She makes an awesome celebrity spokesperson and I know the Hawaii Chair business probably boomed after her show. Karen and Lily are missing out on the finer aspects of this chair. Watch this video and I KNOW you will see what we are all missing out on.

    I was already in an incredibly FANTASTIC mood this morning and was getting ready to head for the gym when I saw this posting. I had a few minutes and checked it out.

I am still laughing. I am so glad I am by myself as I am sure I would have gotten VERY STRANGE looks if I had watched this video at the gym.

I had not seen this one before and thought that she was going to "launch" out of the chair on several occasions.

I think you better stick to your ab lounger (shhhh.....but I bought one too....years ago...with all our moves it is probably in someone else's basement gathering dust)

Hope the ab lounger does the trick for you.

Get your kayak paddle out and make figure 8's as if you are paddling in the water. If you have a swiss ball (stability ball) you can do that while seated on it and it will help you get all the right muscles ready for our kayaking trip.

Counting down the days till we can hit the river!!

Day 1 - Sleep

Friday, December 14, 2012 I decided to shoot for a min of 7 hours sleep. How did I do? 2 hours. Too busy looking at this website and watching a movie on net flix. Maybe tonight I can start a new habit.

    We do have addictive personalities don't we! I don't get enough sleep but way more than 2 hours, it is important to your health so I'm trying to get 7 also.

    Try taking a dose of magnesium about 30 minutes before you go to bed. It will relax you and let you sleep

    SP is addicting, but you must learn to limit your time. Exercise and sleep are more important. Add it to your schedule to only be on SP for a set amount of time. Set a timer and when it goes off, get up and do some exercises.
