Obese to Overweight

Wednesday, October 13, 2010

Out of curiosity I did my BMI today. Often I had stared at my heart rate monitor wondering when it would stop telling me I am obese! Well today it said at a BMI of 28.5 I am overweight! Funny thing to be celebrating right? But it took a huge step to get there. In all honesty I can't remember ever seeing that so I will take it and celebrate it to the max! YEAAAAAAHHHHH! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Well funny thing is. I did this exact same thing yesterday. I celebrated also. When i was telling my friends about it they looked at me as though I was a dummy, but my theory is. They can stay obese. I will continue on down. I am currently OVERWEIGHT, I will eventually become, slightly overweight, and then NORMAL WEIGHT. When they all look at me like they are jealous and whatever, I will remember the day that they thought I was a dummy for being excited that I was no longer obese.

Good House Keeping

Monday, October 11, 2010

To prepare for some smaller sizes I completely went trough all my clothes todat and got rid of everything I have shrunk out of. As much as I loved some of these clothes I didn't want to have clothes I could grow into any more! I tried on everything and donated everything that didn't fit. I was left with only 1/3 of my clothes! I was thankful to find a few pair of pants and dresses I haven't worn since before having my last two kids. That was ten years ago. My husband and I celebrate ten years together this coming Sunday. I never would have imagined it possible to be going into my tenth anniversary smaller than when we met. Today, as I stood there in my old jeans, he gave me a hug and said, "This is the best you have ever looked." For me it's the best I have ever felt. Inside an out. What a great cleanse day!

Halloween Costume!

Sunday, October 10, 2010

SO after my sons dr apt yesterday he asked if we could get something to eat a a treat. I responded by suggesting we go get a costume forHalloween. He loved that idea. So while he picked out a custume I was realizing the adult sizes went up to size 12. I nervously picked on out thinking will this fit! Got home tried it on and it did! YES! YES! YES! At an 18 when I started I could have never been able to walk into the drug store and find a costume! Wow, I am loving my new fredoms!

Please share some of the fredoms you have enjoyed on your journey!

Great job staying away from the goodies! I worked the night shift for two years about 6-7 years ago. It took me a couple of weeks to get used to but I was ok after that. I learned to sleep by making my room as dark as possible with dark curtains (or thick cardboard). I bought a sleep mask and earplugs. The earplugs helped in the summer when the neighbor kids were home from school and when neighbors mowed their lawns.

I retired from dispatching June 2008, 7pm to 7am mostly 4 days a week.. very seldom getting your 4th day off on your 3 day week yes giving me overtime but it made days off difficult. I had aluminum foil on the bedroom windows and could actually sleep a good 8 hours in my cave room. But it took me over a year after retirement to get where I could get a full nights sleep at night.
So all you night owls out there good luck and remember to take care of yourselves... you are important to alot of people.

The cravings begin to subside. I try taking zip log bags of healthier treats to avoid the vending machines. I just can't seem to give up my can of Coke each night though. Going to try switching it to Coke Zero.

Familiar Patters. Good Or Bad?

Friday, October 08, 2010

Familiar patters have come to my attention today. Though I can't say this will speak for anyone else, but it does speak to me. And I am glad I am listening because it is inspiring.

What I noticed is that for me and weightloss I seem to have this pattern of hit it hard two weeks then rest two then hit it hard again. At first I use to get kind of down on myself for not being perfect in all areas. As I disected this a bit further what I found was I tend to be really focused on my diet during one of these two week periods and on my exercise the other. When I am focused on the exercise I am building muscle and weightloss is at a standstill. Then two weeks of focus on diet and thing fall off all over.

During the time I am focused on my exercise I tend to snack more and at first I was really beating myself up about it. Then I thought about my progress and the fact I was eating healthy snacks and realized my body needed them as I am building muscle.

Then going into my focus on diet and less exercise that new muscle really helps along with the diet in melting those pounds.

Before I was always feeling like I was failing myself for not sticking to both 100% of the time. But turning that negative voice off, I can hear loud and clear, "Honey, you are making progress!" Stick to what IS working for you and build on it!

My message here is be kind to yourself and celebrate everything you are doing for your health. It all adds up, and your body responds to that love! emoticon

I used to do a diet that you had a very strict diet for three days then the next day you could eat whatever you wanted. The premise was, your body needed the shake up day so it didn't get complacent and readjust to the lower calorie range of the strict diet days. I seemed to work for about two months then I think my body adjusted anyway or...I stopped that diet from boredom

Right on!! The thing is that this is our lifestyle and not just a diet we are getting through so that is what makes it unique to each individual. I too go back and forth with "being really good" and then "checking out for a bit" just to come back and realize what works and what doesn't. The only reason I have been doing this for a little over a year now is that I allow myself slip-ups and learn from them and meanwhile living my life. You are doing great - it sure is an amazing journey right??!! emoticon
