So today I started tracking again, pulled up the Meal Plan, and am on a mission to continue building my strength. Now it definitely has been slower than 2012 but its progress, not perfection!
I have figured out the secret to maintenance, it's between my ears....my brain! It's a powerful machine, and I've only scratched the surface. I've been in a pretty normal routine for starting back to work; though part time at the school, it allows me more time to work on me.
The weather is much cooler, 60 is hard to come by these days as Fall has begun its beautiful transformation to winter. I'm bringing out leggings, sweaters, and scarves. I love this season.
I'm finished with my SP suggested lunch, and back to 20 more minutes of movement (baby boomers idea people's idea of fitness) taking care to not ache. I'm going to Forzas in a whole, I must get started.
Making it an awesome day!

It's been a long time since I joined this team...however, today I made the commitment to join the April Blood Pressure Challenge!
Since I was gone most of this weekend (as it's the end of a wonderful spring break), I just got online on my smartphone & realized thru the spark mail that it's time to pick up the pace.

My yearly visit to my doctor once again revealed the fact that I need to monitor my BP more often. I haven't been very good about this; usually checking in with the school nurse for a good month or so, and then not checking until my annual dr. visit. Not any more.
I've been watching my weight and size come down since January, so I was naturally concerned myself when my BP was up during my April 2nd visit. So I left and went home to plan a low-sodium diet. I looked up DASH, made my adjustments and off I went to the nearest Wahlgreens.
I bought a blood pressure monitor, the kind you put on your wrist. My first week, I checked it often and at different times just to get the hang of it. Now I check it 1x a week, usually when I get up. My BP has come down! And I'm watching my SP plan a lot more closely these days.

I have just a moment but I wanted to share that I did w/o extra calories yesterday, starting what I call a Reset. Today is day 2 and I woke up feeling perky, and much better physically.
I watched the Dr. Doctors earlier today and was really imspired to grab ahold of "SparkPeople" and not let go! 2011 was the year I let go of WW one more time, only because of the cost. I asked John to buy me a new scale and as the Fall season showed, I weighed myself to get a better idea of where I was in addition to how my clothes felt.
My clothes felt tight and unsightly. I can't wear sweats to work but I can keep an eye on what I'm eating, how much, and when I'm eating. This revelation is no surprise, I just kept trying to do it by myself.
So instead of making a New Year's resolution or going on a diet, I decided yesterday to let go of eating so much and follow the reset belly diet in my new Prevention. I tweeked it to fit me (I'm 62 after all), and woke up feeling better than yesterday, not so sluggish.
I'm grabbing ahold of the only thing I know to do, and I'm not letting go! So I'm not usually into giving advice but if you are younger than me, and you are on the road to a healthier lifestyle, don't let go of it. Trust me...it's much easier when you get older.
Have a great day, thanks for reading this, and Happy New Year,
