my valentine!

Sunday, February 18, 2007

Yippee! My hubby got me the Valentine's Day present I'd been eyeing. I now have a red ipod nano...(product)red that is! So exciting and so motivating to me. I've been borrowing my hubby's ipod, but having my own is better cause I can put all my own music on it. I'm just sure it will make me walk/run faster! To top it off, he had it engraved for me: "Spark your ignition and finish the race." He's recognizing now how much Spark has done for me, and he keeps telling me how proud he is of me. Ahh, love. :)

In other news...I bought myself a new pair of jeans last week in a smaller size. They fit great & I haven't worn this size in FOREVER! Woot Woot! Ok...so then I "had" to get a shirt to go with the jeans & ended up spending more than I would have liked to. Oh well...I lost the weight.

lost: my boston terrier

Wednesday, February 14, 2007

Not to worry, I haven't actually lost my puppy! The other day, I realized that the amount of weight I have lost is equal to the weight of my dog Beanie. Yippee! I picked her up to test it out and was quite impressed with myself. A whole dog (albeit a small dog)...it really makes me feel like I'm getting somewhere.

lost: sugar cravings.

Saturday, January 27, 2007

Wow! I just realized this morning that over the past few weeks, my cravings for sugar have significantly diminished. When I first started this lifestyle change, I stocked up on 100 cal. puddings and yogurts and was eating them every day. Now, I can proudly say that it's been over a week since I've had one of those pudding cups! That makes me proud. I have been able to say "no" to desserts almost completely. All this isn't to say that I will never eat sweets again. I'm sure I will, but that compulsion, the "I MUST HAVE IT NOW!" is gone. Even if my scale isn't moving much, there's a major sign of progress for me.

Another thing I learned today (from an article, but I don't remember which one): Eating after 7pm is not bad in and of itself! The article said that your body burns calories at pretty much the same rate throughout the day. The danger of eating after 7 (or 8 or 9) is that we tend to binge more at that time of night. We start munching...then eating...then gorging. This all fits in because last night around 9:30 after working out, I was still about 100 calories under 1200. I knew that it was important to get in my calories, and so I had a snack that added up to 100 calories. Even though it wasn't much, I felt guilty because I knew I was crossing the forbidden "7pm" line. So, it was nice reading that article and knowing that I made the right decision.

on the treadmill...

Wednesday, January 24, 2007

today i worked out on the treadmill for 62 minutes. Granted, I was walking 20 min. miles, but I was on there over an hour! I feel so good. After about 20 minutes walking, I feel like I could go forever. I sprained my ankle about a week and a half ago, so today was my first time back at cardio. I was going to take it easy on my ankle and only walk for 15-20 min., but I was feeling so great I couldn't stop. This is so encouraging to me. I CAN do this...that which I never thought was possible. I'm going to be healthy!

Congratulations on being on the treadmill for 62 minutes and doine a 20 minute mile. I haven't been on one for some time and I know I am far from that.

Keep up the exercise and making good choices for food and you will see good results in the weight department.
