I Ran!

Tuesday, February 01, 2011

I ran a mile today! Wasn't sure if I could do it, but I thought I'd try. It took 14 minutes, including 2 dooky breaks for my dogs who came with me.

When I was 20, I was going to join the Air Force. The thought of running a mile scared the heck out of me. I practiced and practiced and couldn't run the whole mile. (I ended up marrying my recruiter instead! LOL!)

Now, here I am, 46 years old and much, much stronger than I've ever been. I can bike all day long and now....I can run a mile!

Notice for all sparkers....

Friday, January 28, 2011

Just wanted to let you all know how much I enjoy reading your blogs. Every morning, I get my fix of good advice and warm fuzzies.

Sometimes, by reading your blogs, it makes me review some of the things I do or the way I think. It's like mental floss to clean out the nooks and crannies!

Thanks for sharing a small piece of your lives with me and making me smile!

The Packers won and I gained

Monday, January 24, 2011

First of all....Yeah Packers!!! I'm pumped for the Superbowl! The only drawback is that I don't live in Green Bay anymore, so I'm missing out on all of the local hype.

This victory also brings back a lot of fun memories of the 90's, the last time the Pack went to the Superbowl. We lived there and I had two elementary school aged boys. Packer fever was rampant in our home. We had a blast.

Back to the future: That game was a nail biter! My husband and I looked forward to watching it together. I set up a small buffet of snacks (including Wisconsin cheese, of course.) I figured that would be our dinner. I knew I would probably go over my daily calorie range, but, hey, it was a special occaision. Well, for this chick, it was a free for all! I don't even want to think about how much I ate. (And by the way, those little cream puff things from Sams are evil. We had leftovers in the freezer from Christmas and I ate them all!)

Here's the kicker: Yesterday morning, I was 0.6 lbs away from my goal weight. Today, I'm 3.6 lbs away. 3 pounds fo crap in my system! Today I'm already planning to do yoga and bicycle to burn as many calories as possible.

What I learned: I may be near my goal weight, but I still have a lot to learn. There is nothing wrong with treating myself once in a while, but self control is something I have to work on. Just because it's available, doesn't mean I have to eat it!

Today is a new day...and a good one! Go Pack Go!!!

So close to your goal. You will get there! Then the NEW goal of maintaining it has to be made. I feel this is when self control really needs to kick in because you feel great and accomplished and let your guard down. Well at least that is my past. Good luck on getting back on track. Go Packers!!

Now, I'm really smiling!!!

Wednesday, January 19, 2011

Yeah!!! That scale finally moved. It took 12 days! ( My husband joked that he adjusted it for me. He probably got tired of hearing about it!)

Tonight, I have a girls night out. A group of women from the Chattanooga Bike Club gets together once in a while in the winter for what we call "GOO". (Girls Only Outings) Sometimes, we will rent a cabin at a state park for the weekend or sometimes it's just a night out. There should be 10 of us meeting for dinner tonight. It's a lot of fun.

Our last outing, in the fall, was to see "Menopause, the Musical." If you have a chance to see it...definitely go! It's so funny. You'll see things you can relate to or what to look forward to. (There were only a couple men in the audience.)

Tonight will be a night of nutritional choices at Bonefish Grill. Hopefully, I'll be able to find something that won't make that scale battle start again!

Healthy....and still smiling!

Tuesday, January 18, 2011

Went to the doctor for a physical today. Clean bill of health. Woo Hoo! I'm getting to the age where I can't take things for granted anymore. Stuff is going to start to break down. I have to keep my body better maintained.

Bloodwork: all within normal limits
Blood pressure: 112/72
Pulse: 68
Finger xray came back NOT broken.

Good for another couple years!!!

Oh, and that stupid scale is still the same for the last 11 days! But I'm still smiling!!!
