Still smiling...

Monday, January 17, 2011

Okay, this is just silly. My scale has not moved in 10 days. Not up, not down...nothing!

My intake is always within the lower part of my range. I even biked for over 4 hours this weekend (which usually shows up as some dehydration on the scale, but didn't this time.)

I'm within 3 pounds of my goal. I just can't get over that hump. Could it be psychological?

I even weighed myself last night, to see if my scale was stuck or something. lol. It registered higher at the end of the day. Okay, it passed the test. Then this morning....back to the same!

It's like holding a lottery ticket. I get pumped to win....and nothing!

I'll keep pushing myself to move and eat all the right stuff. Maybe one of these days I'll have good news when I hit that goal!

Don't get discouraged and make sure you're not stepping on the scale too often. You probably have a regular time that you weigh yourself, I usually only look once a week.

Either way, it's more about how you feel and how you ride and not all about weight. It sounds like you're riding well if you went out for 4 hours.

Rough week, but I'm smiling!

Friday, January 14, 2011

Don't get me wrong! It's been a good week. Things are right in my life. No problems there.

Just a little frustrated with the scale. I know, I know....don't let the scale run your life. Just tired of that little *sigh* when I see the exact same number every morning. I'm not asking for a lot. Just a fraction of decline would be nice.

The roads are still too icy and snowy to bicycle on. Warmer weather and rain this weekend should clear them up. Then I can get back out there. A couple hour ride with my friends is much more fun than riding on a trainer in the garage!

Tonight, we're going to the annual Ride Leader's Dinner for the Chattanooga Bike Club. Everyone who lead rides in 2010 gets a free meal and gifts. It should be a good time. I'll have to control myself and not gorge myself. Just because it's free and it's on my plate, doesn't mean I have to eat it!

My goal is to not have the motionless scale read a higher number tomorrow morning! Wish me luck!

Hope you had a great time at the dinner. Here's a suggestion. Weigh over 3 days and take the average. You never know when you just got too much salt one day and are retaining fluid.

Wow! No bicycling today!

Monday, January 10, 2011

It doesn't happen very often, but the south has awakened to a thick blanket of snow! I live in southeastern Tennessee and we have 6-8 inches and it's still falling.

I grew up in Wisconsin, so getting snow was pretty routine there, but this doesn't happen very often here. Everything is closed!

It will be a good day to strap on my old, dusty snowshoes and traipse around the farm fields in my backyard.

Well, the snow is back in WI. We are headed for the lowest temps in 2 years coming up Friday and right about now.

The snow shoeing was great today! I zig zagged all over our 6 acres and then walked over to visit with the neighbors, who were out playing, too. Temperature was right around 30 degrees and should stay that way for the rest of the week. Maybe I'll get out there again tomorrow.

(Everything's closed again tomorrow, too.)

I have always wanted to try snowshoes. Snow is pretty, but getting so old. I live in SW Virginia- about 45 min from Va Tech and it looks like we may not get the snow they thought we were going to get. I hope not. I so want to go running in the morning. emoticon emoticon

It all closes down when snow comes to a southern town. I have relatives in Cleveland TN and I live in Racine, WI. I really do not like having to exercise indoors but I can't tolerate being out in the snow and cold. Good luck!

Wow! 6-8 inches in TN? That's crazy! Back here in Wisconsin we hardly have any left on the ground. Still too cold to ride outside, but man, 6-8" in Tennessee must shut everything down.

Back on Track and Feeling Good!

Wednesday, January 05, 2011

It's funny how after a few days of being back on track with my nutrition and exercise that I feel GREAT! I've been plowing through my to-do list. Everything I can cross off makes me all the happier.

Woo Hoo! Just thought I'd share...

After having a fairly unhealthful day (what in my pre-spark life would be called an indulgent, treating myself day), I just feel gross. At least I have accomplished some fitness minutes this evening.

Looking forward to being back on track tomorrow and enjoying the energy that good choices bring.

I also feel so much more energized when I am in control of my eating and taking care of myself. Now that I think of it.. money isn't the root of all evil... SUGAR is! Spark on!

Whew! Glad that's done!

Sunday, January 02, 2011

Alright! The party season has officially ended for me. It was a fun time full of food, family and friends. I let myself enjoy it.

5 pounds later, I'm ready to get back to my regular routine. (Can you believe I'm sick of eating crap?) I'm tired of having no energy and going to bed with a stomachache from overeating.

I think I need reminders like that to remember why I'm trying to be healthier.

I did the same thing and I fully understand your feelings on this. I couldn't believe how bad eating like that made me feel. Thank goodness for being back on track and feeling better. And glad the holidays only come once a year!

It is soooo hard to eat healthy during the holidays. There are sooo many well-meaning people out to sabatoge our efforts.
