Wk 2 Day 4 - Kalamunda to Dwellingup

Wednesday, April 10, 2013

Today we climbed Mt. Cooke the highest point in the Darling Range! The view was overwhelming. Lots of granite and hills. Our campsite is in Mt Wells where we get to sleep in beds. Darn, I was just getting use to seeing the night sky and stars!

I think I'm settling in and getting accustom to carrying the backpack and my gear! I'll have this down pat before we reach the end of the trek.

Goodnight! emoticon

PS - we had a guest tonight, a possum!!

Wk 2 Day 2 & 3 - Kalamunda to Dwellingup

Day 2: Oh, Lord, what have I gotten myself into....I don't see any hotels along this trail! LOL! emoticon I think the insects, snakes, and animals are getting ready to kick in!

Hope I have packed my backpack right! Don't want to run out of anything but I have to be able to carry it. Well, onward we go.

The first day on the trek was exciting and tiring. My feet hurt but it was worth it. Aw, nature! Can't beat it.........well, got to make my tent, eat and settle down for the night. I like to star gaze, so this should be cool!

Day 3: Maybe I'll see a Black Cockatoo today! My feet got a little wet weaving through the swamp! The views were great and the flowers are so pretty. At our campsite for the night I'm glad everyone is obeying the rule of no feeding the animals because I don't want any company tonight! emoticon emoticon See you tomorrow!

Wk 1 Day 5 & Wk 2 Day 1 - Catchup

Monday, April 08, 2013

My personal life has been in a tailspin the last couple days. I did not get to blog about my trip like I wanted to but I have been sightseeing and having fun! This trip is a much needed escape!

We finished up our first week in Perth by taking a trip to the Mint! All that gold! Sure wish I could have brought back some! The Swan Bell Tower tour was great too!

Onto Week2 - Day 1 - Kings Park. Love the wild flowers, walk ways, bridges and fountains. There was a BIG tree, the bottom of the tree was huge never seen one shaped like that before. There was so much to see I wasn't even concerned with bugs! emoticon
We walked through Law's Walk, it is a 2.5 km loop walk with some steep sections. Didn't think I was going to make it!! LOL! My Sparkpeople routine helped me make it through.

OMG! Zig Zag Drive! Is not for me! This road has so many bends & turns and the driver kept taking his eyes off the road! No Way!

I am exhausted! See you tomorrow! Hopefully! emoticon

Wk 1 - Day 4 - Bibbulmun Track Virtual Challenge

Wednesday, April 03, 2013

Breakfast was really good at Valentino's, so much food! Hope I get to go back! Oh, they had plenty of items to keep we within my calorie range.

Off to the Pinnacles! On this trip we saw and learned about the emu, interesting bird! All those limestone pillars looked weird. Nature is so amazing. Who would think that pieces of sea shells could form that. I was glad to have the opportunity to see the Stromatolites too!

Afterwards we took a stroll and headed back to the hotel. There's a little café next door. I might stop in for a few minutes before retiring for the night!

See you tomorrow! emoticon

Wk 1 - Day 3 - Bibbulmun Track Virtual Challenge

Tuesday, April 02, 2013

We did a lot of walking today in Swan Valley, that is, after we sampled all the chocolate and nougats! They were delicious!

Our last stop was the winery, where we walked, sipped, relaxed and sipped some more. Very enjoyable. Now I'm ready for dinner and off to bed to rest up for tomorrow's adventure.

P.S - I think I will go to Valentino's for breakfast! The menu looks fab!
