I agree with Mathina1 regarding how education has a secondary benefit for the rest of us.

Also, if people stop going to college because of prohibitive expense, then our society's expertise is also diminished, and employers start to look elsewhere for the talent they need.

And ... I also read some where that the cost of college tuition is strongly outpacing our current inflation rate. Hardly seems fair.

(Oh ... don't even get me started on the costs of books!)

You can take the position that college should be less expensive because although individuals benefit from education - ultimately, so does society. Check out this article on poverty and its effect on society/education:

It sounds like a good assignment. Have fun with it. Be sure to remember your rhetorical appeals. emoticon

Recharged For The Day

Sunday, November 10, 2013

If you read my last blog post, you know that i am a college student with a busy schedule. Whether I am studying, in class, or working, i am always doing SOMETHING. Because of this i have been burning out a lot lately. SO last night i decided to take a break from my studies and took a night to myself. (I even did my nails!) I went to bed early too so i got 10+ hours a sleep. How great that feels! I am so recharged now, and I'm ready to tackle my goals for the day health wise and studying wise.
Basically the point of this blog is that sometimes it is really important to take a day to rest. It makes you so much more charged up for the next day

Love you all,

This is very true! As a college student trying to balance my job as an RA, all of my school work, my boyfriend, and my health it can be a real struggle at times! It doesn't help that I have always been one to stress out really easily, but I find that you time every weekend can be very beneficial!

You have discovered a deep truth at a young age. You have to stop and smell the roses every once in a while.

Taking A Mental Health Break

Saturday, November 09, 2013

College is stressful beyond belief. I'm paying for it all by myself, and i am aiming for a 4.0, so i am constantly doing something other than relaxing. I feel like i never get time to just lay down and breathe. SO tonight i am doing just that. I think this time to myself tonight will make me feel refreshed and charged to get ready for tomorrows busy today. yes, i am setting myself up for having to do MORE stuff tomorrow, but i think it will be worth it to have a break to destress.

I am well beyond my college days now, but I think you are on the right track. I lacked money, time, and energy back then. I lived on my own in St. Louis, in a studio apartment that was nicer in my mind than it actually was, worked nights at a gas station that provided me some study time, and went to school full time during the was crazy! I can't even imagine how I did it all now, but it was worth it. Sometimes, we just need to be gracious to ourselves...sometimes...and prevent burn-out by taking a moment to enjoy life, rest, and care for ourselves. It sounds like you are diligent, keep up the good work, but also do what you plan, apply a little wisdom, and take some time to rest your mind and body and take a little joy. Good luck, and keep up the good work!

Booty Call

Saturday, November 09, 2013

I know what you're thinking, but that's not what I'm thinking about. The Tone It Up program created by Katrina and Karina have introduced "Booty Call" as a early morning cardio. The principle behind this is that you get up 30 mins earlier and get your cardio in. I love this idea because i dread getting cardio done. If i do it first thing in the morning, than i have less time to tell myself not to do it.
Doing cardio in the am gives my day a kickstart. It works kinda like a reminder too. If i get my cardio done in the morning then it reminds me to eat healthy for the rest of the day.

there are so many cardio options too! Here are some of the options i choose for my booty call: walking, running, yoga, bike riding, workout dvds, online cardio workouts.

Today we have a college football game, so i'm excited for that. Off to eat my breakfast!

Bye bye loves
