FEF challenge reflection.. and looking forward

Sunday, July 31, 2011

Well I didn't do as well on this challenge as I would have liked to... My weight fluctuated between the same 5 to 10 pounds and it was very frustrating... but with saying that, I know that my eating and my depression had a lot to do with it.. so going forward I'm going to plan meals and my DH says that he wants to be on the same eating plan as I am so that it makes it easier for me to cook!!! WOOHOO!!

I'm looking forward to some great results this time around!!

Kuddos to hubby for supporting you with the food! Depression is a tough thing to deal with. I was just coming out of my worst incidence of depression when I joined spark. Over time, I've realized that food definitely affects my mood & recently learned that eating foods high in omega-3 fats (flax seed, cold water fish, walnuts) can significantly alleviate signs of depression. Now, breakfast is oatmeal + 2 tbsp ground flax seed + 1 tbsp walnuts + fruit & I've been very even keel emotionally. You might want to try it & see if it helps.

Smiled at the Reese. I eat dessert almost every day, though most of it is home-made. Love my sweets, so I make room for in that calorie allotment. I have to ask though... where's the veggies?

Something that I need to apply to my life!

Monday, July 11, 2011

I read an article on sparkpeople today and one of the things that stuck in my head was....

FOOD IS NOT THE ENEMY!!

Yeah so as I read this and go, well duh, I start to think about how I have been eating lately and how it has effected my mood . In the article it says that you should "stop labeling food as good or bad, diet or non-diet" ....hmmm... ok so I started thinking and reading more.. "make good food choices" ok yeah I do that most.. (key word there) most of the time.. "and when you have your favorite treat incorporate it into your meal plan"... Yeah I do that too... then it tells me.....

PROGRESS - NOT PERFECTION - IS IMPORTANT!!

My AH-HA moment- "remind yourself that what happens on any one day is not going to make or break your WHOLE EFFORT!! ....TADA!!

I will not give up or chide myself today because I had Jack-in-the-box egg rolls.. I will just do better tomorrow.

Think I'm going to print this out and tape it to my mirror ....A great reminder that Progress is progress 1 pound-one choice-one day at a time!

Good luck in the 5% Summer Cahllenge!

We are never Perfect! Just take it one day at a time! Even if u eat something that you think is Horrible or bad it will not turn all the good you have gotten so far!! So just start anew tomorrow and push on! XOXO

None of us can live up to Mary Poppins. She was just "perfectly perfect in every way".

All we can do is our best. Our best is sometimes better than we think it is. We're just used to selling ourselves short.

If you make room for it on your food tracker ... and if you count those calories and OWN it ... then it's not "cheating" ... it's planned eating, which is what we are striving for on this journey. It's being realistic about what we eat. It's having the knowledge that we can't just count a whole bag of pretzels as a nutritious meal.

That's what this is about. MINDFUL EATING.
