Today i was Lion Tamer!

Thursday, May 02, 2013

Good Afternoon!

What a beautiful day! its 72 with a breeze and it can't get much better than that!

Anyways, today I ate out. I am on Depo for birth control (aka the shot). I use this form of BC because I cannot take any other form of the meds. The bad thing about depo is the fact that the first week after and the week before you're due for the shot I could eat a horse and chase the rider! It's difficult because all I think about is food, food, food. did I mention food? So i was craving chinese food and I am a sucker for this one buffet in town. I get two of their boxes to go (instead of one) to binge on. Yup, I said it. I got home with the food sat down and started to chow down after I logged the calories I was consuming.. and yikes did I go over! I still ate and half way through I was full and THREW IT AWAY! holy cow! I have never done that before and it felt great. I could have easily have eaten it but I didn't.

Today I started on a binge and I stopped myself. I controlled something that I have never had before. Today i was a Lion Tamer!

WooHoo my peeps!

Today I was a Rockstar!

Today I was a rockstar! I went to the gym as usual and typically I'm on the elliptical for 30 minutes. Since, I haven't been doing the couch to 5k because of the severe shin splints I get I felt as though I'm lacking in my exercise routine. I have found that I love to exercise. I hate missing the gym; the one day I take as my off day I'm thinking about sneaking to the gym to work out. And just think that a month ago I loathed working out. I couldn't even do 5 minutes in the elliptical without almost passing out and today....

I did 40 minutes continuous on the elliptical! I feel as though I need to shout it from the mountain tops. I feel just so great. So when I got home I ate a nice lunch and cleaned the house and now I'm going to go work in the basement and get things ready for the garage sale! Energy to burn! I love it!

Feel the burn for a few minutes and let it light your fire for the rest of the day!

That's amazing! I've never even been on an elliptical machine. This is pretty inspiring for me to try! ... I wonder if my tiny gym has one.....

stressed! thoughts and prayers appreciated!

So last night about 6:30 i noticed that my Coonhound is limping(see blue dog in pic with big ears). Sadie is not new to having health issues and it seems we are not done with it yet. I thought her knee cap was out of place, which happens sometimes and it rights itself in a matter of seconds. Nope.. couldn't get that lucky. I did a knee check.. looking to see if she tore her ACL or MCL. Nothing at the knee which was a relief. I even checked her toes to see if she didn't have a rock in it(we have been down this road before). Then about 10 minutes later I see that her tarsal area on her back let(think the elbow of the back leg) was swollen.. like twice the size it should be.
I talked to a friend that works at a vet clinic and she kinda of gave me an insight to what it could be. It could be: a strain, sprain, a fracture of the tarsals, a partially torn cruciate, or a blown cruciate. I am hoping and praying that it is not a torn or blown cruciate. If this is the case the cost would be somewhere around $1400. Plus traveling two hours away to have the repairs done since no one around here does large dog ortho surgery. I would pay the money and not think twice.. but i am hoping that it is just a strain.. since she is putting some pressure on it and is not limping anymore. It's still swollen of today(Sunday) so we will be seeing the vet tomorrow.
Right now she is on limited activity and icing session(she loathes being cold) and is taking Benadryl to make her relax a little bit.
Just stressed out thinking of all the issues and money it could be. The vet opens at 9am and I will be on the phone at 9am. I have come up with two things that could have caused this, 1. Sadie jumping out of my Equinox, or 2. Huck(yellow dog in profile pic) hip checking her just right when they were playing. So my next big purchase will be a dog ramp for my equinox..

Fingers crossed, toes crossed, eyes crossed that it is a simple fix!

thoughts and prayers appreciated!

I will definitely keep you both in my thoughts and prayers. In September my dog managed to break her left hind leg while playing with another dog. The bone was a small one - inside the hock. The orthopedic surgeon recommended splinting but no surgery since it would cause more damage than doing nothing. Her splint came off in December - but she still has difficulty using it sometimes. I also know she has pain periodically. Fortunately I have a supply of metacam to keep her comfortable. Sigh...
Anyway, I will be praying for a good outcome for Sadie!

today i saw a difference

Saturday, April 27, 2013

Hi Everyone,

So far my weekend is going quite well. I did try some new insteps that are supposed to help with my plantar and boy did they lie to me! My feet killed.. my plantar felt great.. the rest of the foot screamed! Screamed! I threw them away... at the park. I walked a 25 minute mile! I was going to run, however, the way my feet hurt.. it was a no go. So I will run/walk tomorrow.
So we went shopping today.. only picking up a few things. Yeah right.. $400 later well.. we saved $179! Which is awesome but made for a long long day. Anyways, I picked up some lawn stuff and weed killer and boy did I end up with a migraine.. thank god for Excedrin otherwise i would be upstairs in the dark.
I took the dogs for a walk at "the acreage" and usually i can get 1/4 the way and i would have to slow down. However, this time i speed walked the whole thing! Holy Moley! It was awesome! It just keeps getting better better!

Night peeps

I had to have custom made orthodics by the podiatrist. $600 but they did help. I wear New Balance shoes which seem to help my feet too. The pain I had was absolutely unbearable. I had tried all sorts of treatments (even experimental options) which never helped.

Congrats on your walk!!! Things are really looking up for you!

i just have to keep working

Wednesday, April 24, 2013

So i am struggling. I thought that the one thing i would struggle at would be the exercise part of the program. Instead, I actually really like to work out but the food is my issue. I will eat right for a couple of days and then binge on chinese or whatever i can get my hands on. Do i know i'm doing it. Yes, and I don't seem to care. So this is the portion that i really need to work on and keep working on. Will i stumble sometimes, yes, but i will keep on getting up and keep on working on it.

P.S. I love the whole running.. my shins still hate it though. Oh well.

night my peeps

Focus on what you ARE doing that is helpful and healthy for you. you ARE ARE eating healthy most focus on having more good days than bad. Perfection will destroy the effort. So carry on! A streak can be an hour or a day or a week. It is not an all or nothing proposition. It has to be sustainable. f you feel like you are depriving yourself, you are lore likely to binge. But the first time you walk away or interrupt a feeding frenzy, the lightbulb will go on. You can do this!
