Pesky abductor muscles

So I started experiencing pain in my upper inner thighs some weeks ago and thought it would go away after a while(I walk 3 miles every day). then I started jogging about 50% of the time and it got worse. Turns out since I do all my walking on uneven, rocky, dirt roads and seldom take a day off, I was over taxing these muscles that have to work overtime to maintain my balance. I needed some rest, so I took two days off before I walked only two miles today. I am about 75% better.

    Cross Training is a good way to exercise while minimizing the risk of injury from repetitive use. DARKTHOR mentioned swimming. There's also cycling, rowing or using an elliptical machine. Changing up your routine is good.

Hope you were not out of commission too long.

    Thanks for all good wishes and concerns, I gave myself 2 days off and walked/jogged this am with much less pain than before. I will take on day to day basis.

Passed 500 miles YTD walking!

My morning walk of 3 miles put me at 502.75 miles for 2011. I have a goal of 850 miles for the year and will begin strength training when I return from vacation Oct 1.
I normally walk 7 days a week unless "life" gets in the way or my body says I need a day off. Funny though, no matter why I take a day off, I get restless and miss walking....never thought I would ever say that!!!
