Day 9 of 75

Monday, August 30, 2010

Didn't make it on yesterday - didn't do much in the way of exercise, napped most of the afternoon - still exhausted from no sleep Friday night. Slept like a log Saturday and Sunday nights, still feeling tired today, but getting better. Had a meeting with a new food vendor today - think they're going to work out well, but jaws killing me after having to talk to them for like an hour. Tempted to veg out and play solitaire all afternoon, but instead broke out the wii and got in 70 min of low intensity cardio - met my calorie burn goal for today! Just finished ST for today - increased to two sets for three of my exercises - slow but steady at least it is progress. Still not doing as well as I would like with nutrition, but staying in calorie range so that's good. Need to do better tomorrow with fruits/veg. I would have eaten more today, but I was maxed out on carbs.

Today's stats:

1. Bible reading - done!
2 . Plan my meals - done (I'm basically following the same pattern each day, just varying veggies, etc.) I'm going to try having an orange for my breakfast carb tomorrow instead of oatmeal since I've been crumbling the baked oatmeal into my yogurt at morning snack. That way I still have one serving of oatmeal, but I'll get in another fruit.
3. Eat 5-6 appropriate meals each day and track meals on SP - don't know if I can call dinner appropriate - it was just egg salad and no fruit/veg - will do better tomorrow
4. Drink 8-10 glasses of water a day. - almost done - by the time I take all my night meds I'll be over 8 - got to get more water in before I start drinking iced tea otherwise I end up drinking tea the whole time I'm at work.
5. Strength train per my program - done!-
6. Cardio 30 minutes/day 6 days/wk or 10,000 steps/day - 60 minutes of Island Cycle, then 10 Minute Solution on the wii.
8. Take supplements daily - multi and B complex - I need to start back on Magnesium, but I'm out - need to order more.
9. Get 7-8 hours/night sleep - was up late last night talking to my dh, but am heading to bed shortly so I'll get more in tonight.

Day Seven - Week One - DONE!!!

Saturday, August 28, 2010

Well, I have to say I'm fairly pleased with how I did this week. I was far from perfect, but knowing I was challenging myself in this helped me make much better choices than I was making. For example, I did not sleep well at all last night and when I'm fatigued I usually feel I "deserve a treat" since I feel like crap. It would usually be my excuse to blow off exercise and eat nothing but junk, telling my self that I"ll get back on track come Monday. This morning I reached for a soda, but put it back and grabbed a water bottle instead. And since I prepped my breakfast foods ahead of time it made it easy to start my day on plan. When my husband left for work my intention was to lay back down and see if I could get some sleep. Instead I ended up doing Island Cycle on the Wii - I was just going to do a few minutes, but I wound up doing 50 minutes of that, then 10 minutes of the 10 Minute Solution game I got last night. That last little bit got me up and over my calories burnt goal for the week emoticon It took twice as long to burn the calories using the Wii compared to doing a more intense workout, but as I'm just getting back into exercise post-surgery, that's okay with me for now. I still need to do my Day 5 ST workout, but I decided to do that tomorrow when dh is home and can check my form, etc.

I think I'm making pretty good food choices (except for yesterday, didn't get everthing logged for yesterday) - I continue to struggle with timing of meals. I tend to eat at my desk and take so long to finish one meal, that it is almost time for the next meal by the time I've finished. So of course, then I'm not hungry for that meal and end up getting out of sync - like today - had SF Jello at lunch time as I was still full from my am snack, and just wanted a treat.

I'm finally getting somewhere with my digestive difficulties I've been having - not sure what's helping, so I'll just continue with everything for now. I'm taking the Miralax morning and night, the max daily dose of a stool softener, a supplement called Colon-Aid that has cascara sagrada and other herbal stuff, and finally, two tablespoons of blackberry jam (allfruit) in my oatmeal. A friend of my dh swears by blackberry preserves for regularity - figured I'd give it a try - couldn't be any worse than feeling like I was. My stomach is still all bloated out - I look pregnant emoticon so I haven't bothered to weigh until this is more resolved.

today's stats:

1. Haven't done my Bible reading yet - will either read tonight or in the morning.
2 . Plan my meals - done (I'm basically following the same pattern each day, just varying veggies, etc.) Tomorrow I'll do another round of batch cooking to get me through next week. Last week was broccoli tomato quiche for breakfast and oriental tilapia for supper - next week will be spinach, mushroom, and tomato quiche, for breakfast and turkey meatloaf and mashed cauliflower for supper.
3. Eat 5-6 appropriate meals each day and track meals on SP - back on track today!
4. Drink 8-10 glasses of water a day. - done!
5. Strength train per my program - will be doing my day five ST tomorrow-
6. Cardio 30 minutes/day 6 days/wk or 10,000 steps/day - 50 minutes of Island Cycle, then 10 Minute Solution on the wii.
8. Take supplements daily - multi and B complex - I need to start back on Magnesium, but I'm out - need to order more.
9. Get 7-8 hours/night sleep - Got absolutely NO sleep last night, but don't want to nap so I'll be able to sleep tonight. Thank God for the weekend.

I can't see the entere quote on your webpage by Kenneth Blanchard. What does it say? What book is it from? I absolutely love your background on your website. I am making an attempt at running the Houston Half Marathon this year and the pictures are most inspiring! Keep up the great work!

Day Four - tired, but still pressing on.....

Wednesday, August 25, 2010

Feeling very tired and drained today, but pleased overall with what I've gotten done. My legs are SORE from yesterday's workout. I'm really trying to focus on the fact that I'm moving forward again and not beat myself up for the strength that I've lost. I have a recurring fear that I've waited too late, until too many things were wrong with me and that I'll never reach the level of fitness I aspire to. Time to tell fears where they can go and get down to business! Today was Delts and Abs. I had to rest several times while doing my ab work and a couple of things I'm not sure I was doing right. My dh will be back in town before my next ab session, so he can help me with my form then.
This morning I really wanted to get a diet pepsi, but talked myself out of it by thinking I could have some iced tea w/splenda at work if I needed some caffeine - then I get to work and find out we were out of tea! I found some green tea in my desk and tried that iced - I keep trying to like the stuff, but I'm still not getting it.
Warning - TMI again - I called my GI doc's office and told the nurse that tomorrow will be two weeks since anything has "moved" and that I had an allergic rxn to one of the treatments I was supposed to be trying. I'm don't think she was really listening to me as she told me to just double up on both meds - including the one I'm allergic to! My dh has brought home several "remedies" that were "guaranteed to work" (including castor oil - can't believe I actually tried that mess, but desperate times call for desperate measures!) and nothing has worked. I haven't even bothered to weigh the last couple of days because since nothings coming out I'm sure my weight is going up - I can see my stomach swelling a little more each day. I keep getting this visual of my innards blowing up like a balloon and exploding.

Well, enough of that - here's today's stats:

1. When I got home from work I did my Bible reading, then exercise - Three chapters in Nehemiah, then 60 minutes on the wii.
2 . Plan my meals - done (I'm basically following the same pattern each day, just varying veggies, etc.)
3. Eat 5-6 appropriate meals each day and track meals on SP - back on track today!
4. Drink 8-10 glasses of water a day. - done!
5. Strength train per my program - done delts and abs -
6. Cardio 30 minutes/day 6 days/wk or 10,000 steps/day - 60 minutes of Island Cycle on the wii.
8. Take supplements daily - multi only - need to work more on getting back in the habit and add in my others
9. Get 7-8 hours/night sleep - done - slept like a log last night
