My Message to Tire Slasheres

Sunday, February 14, 2010

Are you a tire slasher or do you change the tire. This really has been going in my mind for the past couple days. I'm a big Jillian Michaels fan and listen to her podcasts and this really stuck out to me.

Say you are driving down the road and get a flat tire. Do you run out and slash all the other three tires because you can't drive your car? Or do you get your tire changed and go along your way? When you look at it this way it doesn't make sence to slash your other tires does it? Atleast that's how I feel.

So when you are going along in your day and you give into that chocolate bar or have seconds why do we find the need to give up. Why not just fix the behaivor and keep on going? It's time we change that tire and stop slashing the rest of them. We CAN do this and you are WORTH it!!!!!

Next time you find yourself not sticking to your plan pull out your spare "tire" ha ha so you don't end up with a spare tire. Keep moving foward even if the occational flat tire slows you down don't sabatge your journey or you might get stuck on the side of the road.

*****Also never forget to come for help if you need help changing your "tire" Hugs to all stay positive and keep moving foward on your journey :o) With a bit of team work we CAN do this!!!!!

Love that you put into words what my day was like and how this time I didn't slash the rest of my tires but changed the spare (got in my exercise) and moved on.

This blog is really going to help me in the future to come around to changing that tire a whole lot quicker. A+++ to you and Jillian.

Made me cry not because that is how I feel but just because you cared enough to tell me to read it to make sure I didn't slash all my tires. I'm lucky I didn't derail today until dinner time but I still derailed and then tried to make up for it with exercise which is not the best way to do it but better than giving up I guess. Thanks for being there for me it means the world to me.

Thanks for the motivating blog post, you rock! emoticon emoticon
I really enjoyed reading this. Once in a while we all need that reminder that one little slip up doesn't mean you should give up or give in. This is a life-long thing and not just a "I will lose weight and get in shape for now and then go back to my old stupid habits" thing. I love it and it is a great visual emoticonseeing that tire slashed in my mind and remembering too that it can be "changed" and we can move on and learn from that. What a great metaphor for our life journey. emoticon

Lost a pound and making positive changes

Tuesday, February 09, 2010

Hello everyone happy Tuesday!!! :o)

I still haven't tried broccoli, maybe tomorrow. Part of it is that I'm scared and other part is the time. I think I will brave it tomorrow. I am really hoping that it was just that bag making me sick. I like eating the broccoli with mu lunches at work. So we will see.

I have found more people in Tucson to maybe get together with. I'm so excited!!! I like having more friends that have a healthy goal in life :o) I'm going to finish my journey!!!!!!! Yeah!!!!

Today was weigh-in day for me and even though I ate towards the high end of my calories for the week and exercised near the low end I still lost a pound!!! I was very happy with that.

Tonight was another seminar with a buffet and I once again brought my own food :o)

Next week will be a bit tricky as I will be traveling Monday to Boston then at an all day meeting Tuesday then traveling home Wednesday. I'm going to take some stuff with me, but some I will have to just see. Next week my weigh-in is also going to have to wait till Thursday when I wake up back at home or maybe I will just do it Monday morning :o) The second weigh-in for the contest at work is also next week on thursday!! I'm so going to rock the challenge at work!!!!!!

I'm so excited at the changes taking place in my life and look forward to each and every day more and more. ***disclaimer - I really still don't like work though, but it's needed right now LoL

Thanks again to everyone that has posted on my page and blogs!!! Love ya all!!!! Everyone on here is so amazing, I love all the stories, support, etc. Keep up the great work and keep sparking... hugz

Amy

Here is the pic from the co op this past sat yum yum love the veggies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The pain of Ex's when you have kids with them

Monday, February 08, 2010

So I think tomorrow I will try broccoli again, but not the stuff from the bag and only 50grams. Yesterday was spent running around, so I didn't get to cleaning like I wanted. After we finally got home I did manage to get on the treadmil for 65 min though :o) Yeah!!!!! I continued my streak!

Today hubby asked what I wanted to do today and when I told him clean, he didn't argue one bit LoL. So I ended up filling two big trash bags. WOW I still have to put away a bunch of stuff out on the bed, but hopefully it won't take too long. I'm learning to part with stuff I no longer need :o) Yeah!!!! I CAN do this! I ate dinner a bit late but I was so into cleaning that I didn't want to stop to eat. I did manage to get my calories in though.

Had a few problems with my ex also today but that too shall pass. He was complaining about me letting him pick up my son on fridays instead of sat. stating that it's not fair if he picks them up Friday because he is only getting credit for 49 days a year. So now he wants to only have them Sat. 4pm to Sunday at 5pm even if my daughter doesn't have practice Sat. It just seems so messed up to me. He only sees them every other weekend as it, and goes Mia for one reason or another . He also informed me that he will be out of town the month of March. I don't even actually recieve child support alot of the time. My kids are 9 and almost 11 and till he just took me back to court his child support was only 300 (because I let the judge lower it and order no uninsured medical) a month and he owes me 20k . Now since he took me back to try to get it lowered, the judge didn't even give me a chance to lower it this time and he ordered him to pay 40% of uninsured medical, it's now like $600 a month. Well I sent him a thing from my daughters tooth being pulled for his portion of $10 ( We have been split up for 9 years now and he has paid no medical) and I let him know about the surgery fee (for my son to get his tonsils and adnoids out) coming in a couple weeks of $40, he went through the roof and stated what your giving me a bill??? That's what child support is for, so anyways I let him know what page it was on and that's when he started saying that he shouldn't get the kids fridays, etc. But this is why he is the Ex :o)

Enough rambling about that, I need to go get my bed cleaned off and get some sleep. Hugz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o)

I'm sorry for the situation you and your children are in. I went through a similar one. It was incredibly hard for me until I finally realized that the only behavior I can control and am responsible for is my own. Before that I was on a huge guilt trip. I don't know if any of this relates to you. It's just what comes to my mind when thinking about this. I wish you the very best in regard to this situation and hope your X grows up in a hurry.

I am so glad that you have been working on your cleaning stuff out. It's a hard thing to do but you will feel so much better when you get it all done! I'm sorry you have to deal with your ex. TRUST me when I say I know all to well how that feels. My ex didnt' pay child support for 6 yrs and never helped with anything during that time, than when they tried to enforce it harder it was my fault that he owed over $10000! My son is 15 and out of those 15 years he's lived under my roof for 12 of them. His father never helped with school, medical bills, nothing. Barely came around or called him. Now that Ryan has been living with him the past yr he expects me to help him with all these expenses. It's frustrating cause I've put in my time doing it by myself, it's his turn to take care of it. That's how I feel. He also expects me to drop his Back Child support, but I refuse to let him off. I've always paid my child support when he's with him. It's time for him to do that same regardless if it's back support of not. What a mess! And to top it off, he's impossible to deal with, there is not reasoning or maturity there. I feel your pain Amy! Uggghhhh....that is why they are exes! If only we knew ahead of time what we would be up against! LOL Good Luck!! emoticon

Having worked at a law firm for five years, I can tell you that it is always best to have the wages garnished and to document EVERYTHING! When he doesn't pick them up, pay bills - whatever.

It's a shame the kids get put in the middle of these squabbles. Luckily, my ex can't do enough for me so I was lucky in that respect.

Good luck with all of this. I'll be praying things work out for you.

When it comes to ex's I have too many stories to share. My twist is that my husband was the custodial parent and we had to deal with a deadbeat of a ex-wife. She skipped the state when they were in grade school, leaving many unpaid bills that showed up on his credit report! She skipped so she did not have to pay child support and uninsured medical. Now that they are all raised and grown up she is back and some how she has them thinking she is the best mom in the world! Before summer is over we have some surprises in store for her.

One piece of advice I would pass on is keep up to date on your record keeping of what he owes. I didn't because, really did not ever think she would surface without spending money to find her. I have some catching up before we present our case to the courts. emoticon

Oh I have definitely been down that road with my ex too! It is good to vent and get it off your chest! My ex gave up his parental rights last June to my husband and my husband adopted them. It was great for us, but my ex still owes the back child support and he is furious about it. He started harassing us in December, and I told him if he was going to continue to do so I was getting a restraining order. My kids are 4 and 6 and don't even know their real father. He wasn't a part of their lives. But yeah, I totally understand what you are saying. It is great you met your fitness goal! I like to exercise if I am upset. It lets me take out my frustrations and burn some calories. I feel great afterwards! Take care and if you ever need to vent, I'm here to listen!

Mimi's adventure and bad tummy pains

Saturday, February 06, 2010

So the last week I have been having bouts of really bad tummy pain. I think I finally know what food is causing it. I'm thinking it is the brocolli. I'm not sure if it's this last bag I bought or what. Tuesday I had a pretty bad bout 4 hours after I ate lunch which I had some broccoli. That last about 3 hours, pretty painful. Then Wednesday I decided to leave out the broccoli to see if that was it since I didn't get sick after dinner tue night. I have had problems after I ate once before a few years ago and it was after I ate any solids. So wednesday went good then I decided to have some broccoli with dinner Thursday night because the frozen noodle meal I made didn't have enought veggies for me. All was good till a really sharp pain woke me up at 1 am, it hurt sooo bad and kept me up till about 4:30. If I haven't had this problem before I would have for sure went to the emergency room. I stayed away from broccoli again yesterday, but am wondering if it's broccoli or something to do with that bag. I have been eating a bunch of broccoli every day with no problems no all of a sudden everytime I've had stuff from this bag I've been in tons of pain. I'm too scared to try other stuff that's not from that bag right now, but may make an appointment with my gastro doctor.

Yeah the weekend is here. I am still doing great with my eating, despite going out a few times the last couple days. Last night we went out and checked out the fit n fresh menu at Mimi's cafe. My mom had called to ask for a suggestion on where to go, then after I suggested there they asked if we wanted to meet them there. So when we all got there the wait was 40 min. Great we all thought time for a good 20 min walk :o) So we then we headed off and when we got back we only had about a 10 min wait :o) We checked out the menu while waiting and the fit n fresh menu portion has the calories right there on it. My mom had the chicken chibatta sanwitch with fruit, her boyfriend,Tom, had chicken stirfry with veggies and jasmine rice, Trever had steak with veggies and a salad, and I had naken onion soup with a salad, yum yum I also had a slice of carrot raisin bread since my meal was really low in cal. then Tom and I tried the lemon moose , it has about 120 cal. I think it was with fruit on top it was yummy, below is a picture of it. All the food was yummy, unfortunately the service was not very good, but we did have a great dinner. :o)

I'm not sure what this weekend will bring, all I have planned so far is picking up my fruits and veggies from the co op in a little while, yum yum it's kinda like Christmas, what will we get this week :o) I love it !!!!! I think the rest of the weekend may be mostly cleaning and getting rid of some stuff, getting some exercise in, and maybe some down time. Not sure yet. Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!

I'm sorry you're having problems with broccoli. I certainly would throw that bag out. It could be contaminated. The pain must have been rather horrific if you don't dare eating anymore broccoli! It reminds me of having gallbladder problems, that pain can be unbearable. I'm glad you are going to see the gastroenterologist. I hope it's nothing serious.

Woohoo on having a healthy meal eating out! And to boot it sounds fabulous!

Sorry your having problems. Seems to me that it is the bag of broccoli you are using, especially if eating broccoli normally doesn't seem to bother you but after eating this particular one you are having problems. Maybe it's not very fresh and it's causing you horrible gas pains. Yummy for Mimi's! So much of there is food if so high in cals but their fit menu is nice. We went there a few weeks ago and I had the sweet and sour chicken, and I had to have a slice of that raisin bread, it's so yummy! That Lemon Moose looks wonderful!
