Time to focus back on my health

I've spent the last couple years focusing on the health of both my shoulders and sooo much as gotten let go of. Time to get serious about feeling healthy again.

Busy Fun Weekend

My sister and her son, as well as my other nephew was in town this weekend. We went on a beautiful hike with them on Friday. Then our kids had competitions this weekend and we took up two of my daughters teammates from her cheer team, so it was a busy weekend. We also took them to an indoor trampoline park (Jump Street) The kids had fun as did we.

Diet wise this past few weeks have been going pretty good. Lots going on with my son still, but we are getting through it all. :) Fun Fun with all the different drs and specialist. I have been doing pretty good getting my steps in. I decided to add a bit more on the exercise front so yesterday I started Insanity. Due to my shoulder I modified a few but I did them all :) Almost got sick at the end so I know I worked hard. When I do the fitness test 2 I'll post results to that point. I'm excited about it all and hope it helps loosen up my shoulder. Hope everyone is having a great day!!!!! and have a great week!!!!! Our CA and NY trips are coming up pretty quick.

A bit of an update **sorry long post

It's been a really long time since I blogged and I really have been meaning to. The last year has been crazy since my surgery Dec. 8, 2010. In short I had my rotator cuff repaired and got some nerve damage, my shoulder froze up, then I had a manipulation in April which a day later I dislocated my shoulder down then forward (very painful) , then in July I had another manipulation and again the next day dislocated it down and forward. Because of the nerve damage and freezing they can't put the ligament back on the bone to prevent dislocation. It's all kinda a bummer but I keep trying to move it move and have accepted that some things I just can't do for right now. I spent almost a year on a bunch of nerve meds etc, physical therapy, surgeries etc. No excuse but I ended up going up 25 pounds. Then in October when I tried to start losing again the weight just seemed to be stuck if I tracked etc or just kinda ate whatever within reason, so I kinda gave up. This time I'm doing the Sparkpeople plan and I'm sticking to it!!!! I will allow myself 3 meals of plan within reason a week and not beat myself up if I mess up just start back over with a clean slate right away. I have been doing it for the last 2 weeks and the scale finally moved a pound. I'm excited about that and at the same time frustrated with my body. I just have to remember that even when the scale isn't moving I'm still getting healthier and no to let the stupid number rule me :)

On a great note in April we are going to Anaheim for my daughters hip hop finals and we are going to Disneyland with the kids the two days following the compitition. Then in late April my hubby and I are finally headed off to New York for a week and a half. We are super excited about this trip we have been planning for 8 years. It finally isn't going to be postponed any longer :) Also due to us going through the Dave Ramsey Course and getting our finances under control we didn't go into debt with me being out for 9 months on half pay. We even managed to pay the medical bills.

The kids have mostly been doing well. I had some very hard parent moments this last week. Long story short on that one. My 11 year old son was on a bus with some routes put together, due to few kids going in on spring break. A kid he didn't know crawled under the seats went up behind him and grabbed him by the throat and threaten to cut him with a pair of scissors and actually did then ran back to his seat at the back of the bus(only 7 kids on the bus, the 4 in the back were laughing and calling my son names). Thankfully not that deep, it's a crazy ordeal cause later the kid was looking for his wallet and accused my son of stealing it. When the kids was crawling on the ground looking for his wallet my son kicked him and is now being charged with assault too. Not anywhere near as a serious charge as the other kid though. So I had to sit through my 11 year old being read his rights, watch the video, and learn he too was being charged because he was no longer in danger when he kicked him. Also the next day the kid threatened him with a bigger pair of scissors and flashed them at him. That is when my son finally told his teacher about the day before and the tapes got pulled from the bus. It kinda looked like a pretty good cat scratch about 3-4 inches long :( I'm so thankful I didn't get a call that he was on his way to the hospital or that he fought back and someone got stabbed. Poor thing just sat there, it really broke my heart and still does. Not sure what is to come, the kids is actually in class with my daughter she is almost 13. School is back in session in a week and I'm tring to get my son into counseling starting this week. Through this I have managed to keep my eating and exercise mostly under control with a few lazy but eating good days.

Oh yeah and I starting using a fit bit back in January if anyone wants to be friends. Hope to post some new pics soon and can't wait to start catching up with people and meeting new people.

    Oh my dear! First off its so great to "hear" from u, and see ur positivity shining through as always. I'm sorry to hear that ur shoulder has been such a hinder for u. I was really hoping that it was going to heal and u would be back to normal. I can only imagine how frustrating that is formu to be limited in what you can use it for. I am just blown away to hear what is happening to poor C. And for them to charge him? Really? Crazy. Poor guy. He is such a good kid. It is a horrible experience to listen to ur child have their rights read to them. Big hugs to u my friend, I really miss u girl! Keep plugging away, even through it all ur still standing and pushing through. U can do this! XOXOXOXOXOXO

    okay, that is INSANE! Personally, I disagree that your son was "not in danger" at the time and so should be charged with assault. How does he know that the kid wasn't going to jump up when he got to his seat to do more damage? How frustrating! I'm so sorry you're having to deal with all of this. But make sure you're taking some time to take care of yourself as well. Some stress relief is desperately needed! Keep at it girl, do what you can and rest that shoulder!

    Thanks!!! My shoulder is getting better slowly. I can now lift it shoulder level. I'm not really getting more rotation than right out in front of me which is the harder of the two except to do my hair, I rest in or a bar to hold it up, I can now put it in a lower ponytail by myself without it on the side. This was a very big thing for me. Hubby still helps straightening sometimes and puts it up for me. :oD

    Wow woman! A lot going on! Sounds like you have a pretty good grip on parenting. Kids can be cruel, and its tough to teach your own kids how and when they should defend their selves without crossing the line. Pat on the back for handling it well. Scary times we're in. Great job getting him in counseling. Theres so many good things about this post :) Love that your still positive on food and exercise. I believe that the more we "hang on to" what to eat and what not to eat, we hang onto weight. Just let it go and do your best to stay focused! Like you said, if you mess up, start fresh as soon as you can. Bummer about your shoulder tho. There's got to be things you can do to get through that. And way to go on finances without working!! Thats tough. Sounds like your back on track with things for the most part. XOXO Stay strong Lady!

I had an amazing anniversay weekend with my husband and kids. Monday I could have done without but lifes great overall !!!! I will try and post a blog about the weekend later have lots of pictures :o)

Last night I finally had my appointment to get my hair done as my reward for getting into the 150's and not gaining on our road trip vacation this summer :o) I hadn't been in 4 years. I really like how it turned out.

Here is a picture of me in the dress I wore to work (first time ever that I have worn a dress at work) I didn't like the pictures so I almost didn't post but it's a good before picture of my hair.

This month has been great and full of adventure!!!! I am blessed and continue to focus on the positive and try to help others see the good in their life and live a healthier life. I have made some really good choices this month that I am very proud of :o) A few not so good but that is just part of being human so I am ok with that!!!!!

Today is the second "lesson" in a study that I am doing with a dear friend of mine.(I think there are 12 - 2 hour sessions total) The study is about preventing diabetes and basically being healthier. I'm really excited to see what it will bring.

So as far as accomplishments for August go here are my top four:

1 - I got into the 150's !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah, right now I'm about 158, will update next week. Here is my picture from my official weigh-in that I was under 160 :o) So my appointment to get my hair cut and highlighted is set for next Tuesday!!!!! Yeah I had two goals to be able to go. First was to not gain on our trip which was a success and the second was to be under 160 another success. Now I need to come up with a under 155 reward :o)

2 - I went to a buffet (Sweet Tomatoes) and am happy about the choices I made!!!!! Here are the pictures of what I had, I also went after a 2 hour workout and didn't use that as an excuse to indulge. I am so proud and happy about this choice!!!! :o)

3 - I am being positive at work and making great changes. Life is what you make of it after all, right? I won't always be in this job, but for now it is helping get us out of debt and I have some great friends!!!!! I am just trying to help others on my own until I can have a job doing so.

4 - I also got into the next size down jeans :o) and get this next week I am going to try the next size down ( I bought them last month on clearance)

I have also been making my yummy protein coffee shake and egg and veggie patties

Here is some corn and green chiles I got from the wouderful co op that I participate in (Bountiful Baskets)

Here are some homemade baked fries I made :o) I made up a bunch of these by cutting them up cooking most the way then freezing them. So much better then processed ones and the kids love them!!! Also we don't waste the potatoes that hubby won't use for baked potatoes.

My son broke his arm a week ago, all the way through his radious :o( but on the plus side he is ok :o) and is in good care. He goes again on Friday for more x-rays. He also loves his castoo Panda ;o)

Hope everyone is doing great and making some great choices. Please focus on the great things in your life. It really does improve the quality of life!!! :o) I'm going to Zumba 4 days a week and a few other classes and raquetball mixed in :o) I've got my sister going to the gym with me!!! This is great!!!!!! We are also starting a step challenge at wor to help motivate people to work more. :o) So many grat things are coming up and going right in my life. Nothing can bring it down!!!! Just make the best of the not so pleasant people/things and move forward. Have a great day and a Spectacular September!!!!!

September is a month full of celebration. 5 year anniversary for hubby and I Yeah I love him so much!!!!!!! He is one of my number one fans!!!!! It's also both of our birthdays this month. I am celebrating mine with a sprint triatholon!!!!!! Yeah!!!!!

    CDGOLDILOCKS, I use a crinkle cutter. I got mine from pampered chef a while back but have seen them with the kitchen gadgets at stores:o) After I cut them I sprayed with a little pam and a little sprinkle of garlic salt. Then baked them for 20 min on cookie sheets 425 degrees, then put them in the freezer on the sheets and after they were frozen I took them off the cookie sheets and bagged them. Then 425 degrees for 20 min or until done to your taste. :o)

GONNALUZIT, I share all my meals in my food blog if you want to try to disect. LoL Sometimes I do leave out a few veggies because I'm being lazy and just put in the main things with calories. Right now I have been using 1 cup almond milk, 1/2 serving of chocolate muscle milk protien isolate powder, 1 teaspoon instant coffee, 1 teaspoon powdered coffee creamer, about 1/3 cup water, and about 6-7 ice cubes (half my glass 24 oz I think) The egg veggie patty is eighter 3 egg whites or one egg and one egg white then I add 1 oz feta mix it up with a fork, then add bell peppers, onion, mushrooms, garlic, or whatever veggies I may have cut up that sound good that morning, I put it in a med-high preheated 6 inch(Ithink) pan spray with a little pam go finish getting ready come back about 4-5 min later put the cover on for a min if it's still a little runny, then flip. Toast my bread if I'm having it on a sandwich thin or bagel thin, etc by the time my bread is toasted it's done. Sometimes I just have the patty though and let it cook a couple min on the other side. I think the cheese is soo yummy like that. Taste kinda like fried cheese. :o) Let me know if you have any other question. Thanks

    Sounds like a GREAT month indeed. Keep up the good work! I am not a cook at all, but do you cut the potatoes into fries like that? If so, HOW? I am a noobie in the kitchen and am looking for ways to make healthier things for the kiddos. Keep up the good work!
