Great blog. I, too struggle with knowing when to quit. My dh is always getting after me because I have overdone it and ended up crashing. But, I'd rather overdo and crash than do nothing and get nowhere! Ms is a constant challenge. Thanks for sharing.

Great blog-you obviously look for motivation! And yes, MS sure is real...I have it too. Also real are procrastination and fear of the effects of pushing too far, both of which I also have. I saw this on an MS site and I like it: "I have MS but MS does not have me!". So we will wear our cooling vests and consider that part of weight training, and use walking sticks for balance and to increase speed a bit, and we WILL spark on! I take MSM supplement as well as vitamin d and a multivitamin and I take a daily dose of Lyrica-keeps some of the nerves quiet for a while :). Good luck on your health venture!

Do you treat your disease with diet? I was just wondering because there are couple of great books out there. Here is a link to a list of books on treating MS with diet. http://paleodiet.com/m s/ The MS Recovery Diet looks promising and it comes on Kindle. I hope you can find a way to overcome this disease. You definitely have the right attitude :) Tammy Report Inappropriate Comment |

Great blog! I have MS too and know how fustrating the fatigue part is. I get so mad at my body for pooping out. But then usually, the next day I can get things done and exercise. It's hard not to overdo on good days. BTW, I still haven't figured out where the "overdo" line is? I need a meter on me that hits a red line and I know when to stop!

Man, that is a conundrum...MS must make everything more difficult, but then again all the more reason to move, I would think. I battle with depression and something that I have found to be really helpful is rebounding. I get up and hop right on it in the morning...really makes my day so much better. Is that something you could do? They do have balance bars you can add to them if you feel you need a little more stability. All I know is that bouncing up and down on my rebounder (I have a bungee rebounder) just makes me have energy and makes me feel much happier. And then my day is just easier. Thank-you for your blog! Don't let your medical conditions get you down. I have a few medical conditions that get in the way of my workout from time to time, and I must admit, it gets discouraging at times. Listen to your body, if you're fatigued rest. I used to try and force myself to workout when I was fatigued, but found out that it's not good for my condition. So instead I do something calming like meditate or listen to music. Remember, rest is a very important part of living a healthier lifestyle too. Report Inappropriate Comment |

Wow, this is the single-most inspirational blogpost that I have read in a long, long while - if EVER here on Spark. It is a phenominal home run that alternately made me chuckle, squint to read the fine print, or get so emotional that my vision became compromised by the spontaneous urge to tear up, which I firmly stifled - of course. (Pfff.) But, you touched a chord, which is not easily done, and for that I thank you! Well done, across the board!

I don't know what "adenoline triphosphate in the mitochondria" means. But, my theory, regarding why MS causes fatigue is that our brains need to work harder to make connections insdie to help us do many things that are "regular" and "easy" for others. My MS fatigue feels like a brain fatigue, because my brain is tired. Although it affects my body, it feels like it's actually my brain that is too fatigued to send the correct messages to tell my body what to do. Is that what "adenoline triphosphate in the mitochondria" means? And, yeah. I know what you mean about excuses. You really do awesomely well, BLOOM, at motivating yourself to exercise, even with your disability and the limitations it creates. Although I likely have fewer physical challenges than you do, I often don't even bother to look for the motivation to exercise, let alone find it. Way to go! ~ Faith Report Inappropriate Comment |

I did it ANYWAY. Today was a battle of MS weakness affecting my whole body and DETERMINATION. It was so hard to walk and balance this morning. I needed my cane, then the intensity of the symptoms decreased.
DETERMINATION WON !!!
Along with Consistency.
HABITS pushed me to continue on my journey.
In all, it was very eventful. I made much progress today. My ACHIEVEMENT was Step Aerobics and walking when I was fatigued. The combination kept me moving for 1 hour 10 minutes. A new record !!! 8153 steps in ONE HOUR 10 Minutes !!!
It's been about 20 years since I did step aerobics.
It's never easy. JUST DO IT !!!
This Impressive saying will leave you with something to think about, ponder, and apply to your life. Enjoy.
I will sleep well tonight.
