Such a great entry!!! I love the pictures you used this time, more than usual. Always "live with intention." One of the dumbest things people do (myself included), I think, is simply not considering whatever it is they should really take into consideration. Do you want to live your life on purpose or have it be one big oops? I'd rather live with intention, do things with intention.... Your list is remarkable. And I think choosing not to use fake color in your hair is awesome. Be who you are! I joke a lot, I've been 28 years old now for a few years. In my teens I thought I'd be cool with this whole aging thing...but as it turns out, I'm not. LOL Still, I think one should be natural and true to themselves and I think hair dye is silly. I realize, if I go gray tomorrow I'll have to suck it up and wear it as is, but that is okay :) I think it is easier to feel good and be confident with yourself when you are not made up to look like someone you don't really look like. At least, I think it is a more satisfying feeling to be confident with the natural you. Report Inappropriate Comment |

What an inspiration you are! I just turned 48 and I am determined that 49 will be even better as well. I quit putting highlights in my hair 5 years ago; in an effort to expose my body to less chemicals. I just found my first gray hair last week. I am not scared. Oh.. by the way... Thanks for adding me as a friend. I added you as well! Forgot to say... love the zany socks!! Lori Comment edited on: 10/16/2011 10:11:28 PM Report Inappropriate Comment |

Yikes, I realized my biggest challenge is night-time Indulgences. Gasp !!! Now that I have noticed this issue it IT IS UP TO ME TO FIX THE ISSUE. I must develop a strength for the illogical desire to snack in the evening. It isn't always because I am hungry, so What is the Meaning Behind This. Why am I snacking?
Heck the 2 small apples I ate filled me up. They were delicious with cinnamon sprinkled on them. My stomach was satisfied and full, but the urge to snack on continued off and on.
My workout goal has been to stick with the 2.5 miles walk and jog workout and to develop improved tolerance to jogging. I am improving, in fact the other day I did 3.5 miles !!!
Today I only got in 1 mile before my dreaded dental appointment. There are issues going on inside my mouth. My teeth are decalcifying even with years of fluoride treatment from childhood to the point I developed flourosis. Over the last few years the enamel gets thinner and thinner wearing away creating cavities. So every visit results in more cavities. Its not that I don't brush. There is something wrong with my body's ability to utilize minerals properly or something. ??? I dread the cost of fixing them.
The stress of the evaluation due to my phobia of dentists triggered an increase in Multiple sclerosis symptoms. My body was so tired and weak I napped today resting. My hormones are off due to the nearing TOM making every symptom worse. Somehow hormones really set off MS symptoms making them hundreds of times worse. Hopefully menopause will help.
Overall my progress is better. I am making wiser choices with eating except at night. I am discovering better choices. My workout times are increasing in length, except for today and the other day when my calf muscle hurt up to the top of my hamstring. It was a small setback, but I used it as a rest day.
I reordered my protein shake filled with lots of veggies. Thank goodness its so nutritious and low cal.
Tomorrow I will start fresh again. Thank goodness for tomorrow.

The apples with cinnamon, although healthy, might not be filling you up at snack time. Your body might need some protein to keep it full. There is nothing wrong with a slice of cheddar cheese, if you eat it in moderation (try 1 oz). Or, for a lower calorie cheese, try mozzarella; I always keep the Lite mozzarella string cheese sticks in my refrigerator. ~ Faith Report Inappropriate Comment |

I feel for you and your dental situation and the cost scares me too. I have had some work done that was expensive too. Keep trying to figure out what are your cravings and what satisfies your cravings. Everybody is different. Dehydration gives you signs of hunger. Try to increase your water intake throughout your day. If that doesn't work, fill up on water before your craving time hits. That is what works for me. Good luck and Good Health to you Report Inappropriate Comment |

Sorry to hear your teeth are giving you problems. Don't know if you drink it or not but sodas of ANY kind are horrific for our teeth and bodies. My DD has thin enamel and she was warned about soda and also to rinse or brush her teeth after any sugar (including natural sugar in fruit). I am also trying to beat the night-time snacking. WE CAN DO IT! Report Inappropriate Comment |

I tend to stay up too late and much of my nighttime snacking is then because I really should just go to bed. Yours might be because your body still needs something after all that exercise. Maybe planning for an evening snack that doesn't fill you with regret is just the ticket. Anyway, good luck as you work to figure it out. Report Inappropriate Comment |

Noticing the problem is a huge step, now you are ready to focus and fix the problem. Sometimes when I get the munchies at night it is because I did not eat enough through out the day. What I do is add a few extra calories to each meal. Another thing is figuring out what the craving is. I find I will eat little bits of a lot of stuff (which adds up) if it is not satisfying the craving. If I just eat what I am craving it is all better and I usually end up consuming fewer calories.

Maybe eating a little more (good) fat with your last meal would help. Fat is what keeps the tummy satisfied. Add some olives, or nuts, or avocado.. A cup of 1% milk does the trick for me. And I hate going to the dentist too! I avoid it as much as I can. I'm sorry you need to go so often. Comment edited on: 10/14/2011 7:48:35 PM Report Inappropriate Comment |

I think night time snacking is a problem for many of us. I eat dinner about 7pm and still at 8pm I want a snack...cookie...bar whatever I baked this week. I'm getting that under control myself and stopping the madness. no baking this weekend so that should help. I'm replacing the snacking with night time tea or hot cocoa. I just made a vegan mix and I'm pretty impressed with the flavor.

That's the great thing about life, each day presents a new start, an offering. I hope today is a good one for you. Think apples. I try not to keep those foods that draw me to them like a mindless fly out of the house. But DH brings in ice cream, chips, etc. Some days it's harder than others to resist. I hope your dentist appointment goes well. Never fun. Hang in there! Report Inappropriate Comment |

Yep I have the same problem. I can eat well all day and then in the evening I eat and eat and eat. Sometimes healthy and sometimes not but almost always it puts me over my goal calories and I believe is the reason behind my plateau last month. I've found using good ol'self control helpful this week. (I made a point of memorizing a scripture verse on self control to which I've been bring out everytime I feel like giving in!) I've also taken to heart the quote from SP. "There are only two options regarding commitment. You're either IN or you're OUT. There's no such thing as life in-between."- Pat Riley, basketball coach. It's a good one for me. Someone else suggested brushing my teeth - that works in the short term. Other suggestions include: Buy 100 cal packs of popcorn, drink water instead, budget enough calories for the indulgence(that one would never work for me.) Hope something in there is helpful:-) Report Inappropriate Comment |

It's good that you see the positive hun, occasionally stuff happens and we can't workout for as long or as hard as we'd like, but that's okay, so is evening snacking. Snacking in itself is not a problem as long as its a healthy snack, you metabolize food ate in the evening the same as you do through out the day.

Yes I have heard Hormonial Changes can affect MS .. In some cases the actually perform a hysterectomy to stop the changes!! some times this works and some times it doesn't. so all very debatable!!. Hope you have a better day tomorrow my friend!! Hugs Susie Report Inappropriate Comment |
