SUPER-TOUGH CHOICES !!!

Friday, October 21, 2011

The Journey has me learning more about me who I am for reals !!!

Each day we can choose to have control over our CHOICES.

It's easier to sleep in.

I want Chocolate NOW !!!

I am too tired to workout.

Pizza, soda, and ice cream OR veggie omelet, smoothie, ice cream made from frozen protein shake with spinach? Sounds gross but tastes oh, so yummy. For me can I have some more unsweetened tea?

It's helpful to make a list of things to substitute for I GOT TO HAVE IT NOW CRAVINGS or ELSE I WILL EXPLODE !!!

I found new loves.

Essential 7 Protein shake chocolate flavored of course. 70 calories INSTEAD OF eating my HUSBAND'S cookies. Ya, his. (He doesn't mind sharing.) It helped me break the COOKIE MONSTER CYCLE and CANDY FIEND.

Smoothies with greens.

Greek Yogurt.

Popcorn.

Apples with Cinnamon sprinkled on top. YUM.

EAT LIKE A THIN, HEALTHY PERSON WOULD.

It is our choice to keep on doing the things the path of least resistance, the way we are used to doing. We tend to procrastinate which causes frustration, stagnation, and lack of progress.

It is much more challenging to choose new pathways, to learn new healthier recipes, and to do different workouts. The path of resistance offers many opportunities to grow and progress. It is the path of least resistance that offer more pounds, thunder thighs, and a blubber belly.

Making the right choice can be very difficult. EACH DAY IS A CHANCE TO PROVE OURSELVES OVER AGAIN. We can make the correct choice.

Today I will get up and do a BRISK CARDIO WORKOUT !!! I value my health, so I choose to workout. It's hard to choose over getting on line. It's hard to get in my workouts EARLY, I like to do them later. When evening comes I usually get my workouts in consistently, but If I started earlier I could do MORE. Yoga in the Morning, walking with Leslie Sansome, and Strength Training in the evening.

Each choice we make can contribute to more stress, more pain, more unhappiness, and frustration.

If we pick wisely, it can lead to positive momentum, create progress, which builds momentum in which we ultimately reach our goals.

If you make the wrong choice pick yourself back up again.

Even though it's hard to make wise choices, YOU CAN Do IT.
Before you eat that slice of pizza ask AM I BEING TRUE TO MYSELF? Can I really eat just one piece?

Choice is our INNER GUIDANCE SYSTEM.

Become aware of what you are doing and how it aligns up with your GOALS. Are you conscious or unconscious of your choices? I know I was.

I am learning GREATER AWARENESS of when I exercise, how much I exercise, and of what I put into my mouth.

My Inner Guidance system helps me to understand why I am making the choices I do.

It opens up my eyes to OBSERVING IF I REALLY AM HUNGRY, THIRSTY, or using my time wisely.

It allows me to overcome Obstacles by being MINDFUL.

The choices are tough, I must be Strong.

It is our Choices day in and out that make us.

Listen to your inner voice, Honor yourself, be true to your values and goals.

What are you doing TODAY to Reach your Goals?

There Are few people who REALLY are willing to work completely on getting to their goal. Most people want to avoid the pain and discomfort of getting there, as it isn't easy.

I just wrapped up 20 more miles on my bike...it was a choice this morning. I also choose to be happy or grumble each and every day.

Thanks for always posting such beautifully illustrated blogs too!

HOW DO I STAY MOTIVATED ???

Thursday, October 20, 2011

Cute Legs !!! I wish mine looked that great.

Eventually, working out consistently - DAY IN & DAY out Progress will BE MADE !!!

Nothing stands in the way.

It's hard to make good choices, but I TRY MY HARDEST EVERY DAY !!!

EVERY DAY I MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICES, I GET STRONGER !!!

CHOOSE TO START TO BE GREAT.

Making HEALTHY CHOICES. Raw, fresh, apple slices with Cinnamon instead of a slice of cheddar cheese.

I must stay strong, after all. . .

I will FIGHT for what I WANT !!!

NOTHING IS GOING TO STOP ME.

It's not easy. It takes PLANNING. It takes WORK. It takes ATTITUDE and DETERMINATION.

MY DETERMINATION MAKES ME STRONG even when I am weak.

Even if others think you can't or won't don't Believe in you, YOU CAN DO IT.

Your DREAMS WILL COME TRUE.

I AM LEARNING TO MAKE WISE CHOICES.

I think OUTSIDE THE BOX !!! I do workouts to heal my body, mind, and soul.

I might be slow, I might be disabled, or have been in a wheelchair, could barely walk, walk with a limp or wobbly pace, or slur my speech. They might label me as hopeless but they are WRONG.

ALL IS POSSIBLE TO THOSE WHO BELIEVE.

ONLY YOU can decide what is BEST for YOU.

If your unhappy it's a SIGN to TAKE ACTION. BE INSPIRED.

don't wait for tomorrow.
GET UP NOW. TAKE ACTION or not.
The choice is yours.
DO SOMETHING GREAT !!!
EXERCISE AND EAT RIGHT.
Start NOW.

MY GOALS - UNDERLINED AND IN BOLD ARE WRITTEN DOWN.

Determination, consistency, Great Choices Day in and out work best for ME.

BE UNSTOPPABLE !!!

what is your choice ???

No matter how hard it is make the right choice !!! It's up to you.

Sometimes our wrong choices lead us to better places, like SPARK PEOPLE !!!

Ideas are funny little things. They don't work unless you do.

Want inspires a lot of actions. When I was young, I wanted to have some money so I didn't have to ask my parents for it, so I learned to save what I had earned.

When I left home, I wanted to have a telephone in my apartment so I saved some of my paycheck for the installion of the phone and the bill.

Now I am almost 60 and I want to have more energy than I have, so I began exercising more and longer than I have in 40 years.

HOT DATE With BOB !!!

Tuesday, October 18, 2011

Will update later.

My Update. Early Morning, to wide-EYED to sleep !!!

It was a dark, dark, really cold, fall night. The wind was blowing around the leaves, they rattled as they fell to the ground, swirling on the concrete. In the Moonlight the cat chased a MOUSE. Honest. Then she ate it, leaving a few bits of remains for me to clean up in the morning.

Alone in the house, it was Bob and I. My heart Pounded - racing a bit, while my legs trembled, my arms shook, SWEAT beaded up on my forehead. Bob had never been to the house before. It was his first time and I, well am rather rusty at his game. He was so nice, I really couldn't resist what happened next !!!

Bob knew all the right moves to throw at a girl. He smiled kindly as he tortured me in his quiet encouraging voice. It was amazing, sweet heavenly torture. My muscles clenched tightly as he toyed with them. He smiled wisely at me. I squirmed, impatiently as my muscles grew warmer.

It was HOT, Really, REALLY HOT inside even though a cold breeze blew into the house. I didn't know how long I could hold out, enduring his sweet torture. My veins pounded loudly, so loudly I thought he would hear me. My breathing became louder. My blood flow increased causing my body to flush all over. Finally Bob made me Whimper. . . The Whimpers came closer and closer together as I tried hard to Please him. My breathing increased, becoming ragged, louder. I hoped he couldn't hear. Blush. I quivered as my muscles finally succumb to fatigue.

Bob WON, He had his way with me. But I had some control.

GOT YA !!! LOL. With Bob Harper. I just got one of his workouts to try.

Then he put me to sleep, all worn out.

Had FUN!!!

Fun, Zany Celebrations of WOMANHOOD

Saturday, October 15, 2011

On COOL, Fall Mornings I wear ZANY socks, expressing my newer found confidence at expressing myself. Never before would I have worn something as WILD and EXPRESSIVE as these HIPPIE, WILD WOMAN SOCKS. What the heck, it's time to enjoy life to the fullest.

The LOVE of MY LIFE gave me these EXPRESSIVE socks as a gift the last time we went to the Redwood coastline. My toes wiggle in PLEASURE as I wear them as a REMINDER of our wonderful trip.

The most amazing things happened on that trip. It was a Celebration of Life, while we waited for my husband's diagnosis. We were waiting the outcome, worried, stressed needing a release from our troubles. Many hours were sent in prayer on the beach. Fortunately every single test came out negative. No signs of cancer, just pneumonia. Blessing were showered on us.

He went out and got a NICE Bike which he rides 22 or more miles. This has improved his health greatly. He also stopped smoking !!!

Another weird thing that happened was a confirmation that it is OK to Go Silver. Many women my age color there hair or highlight it disguising the passage into the our WISDOM YEARS. It was my decision with my husband's encouragement to stop highlighting. It did make me look younger, but with all the health hazards, the wasted dollars spent involved with coloring one's hair and having a neurological disease I decided to go silver.

I always thought it would be neat to be thought of as one of those women that you see that have the glow of WISDOM, Peace, CALMness, of living a fulfilled life. A woman who is confident of herself, the life she lived was a good one, one that mattered.

On that summer trip a waitress commented that she couldn't stop staring at me. I was rather SHOCKED !!! She went on to explain that my hair color and my complexion simply GLOWED !!! GASP. I never expected that in my LIFE, to be complicated for my BEAUTY. She totally made my day and well months afterwards. Her words made me feel like I AM THAT KIND of a WOMAN !!!

My Eating CONTINUES TO BE MUCH IMPROVED with my determination. Picking wise choices, planning ahead helps out so very much. Yesterday I made the most delicious PUMPKIN Smoothie out of an old butternut squash that sat around for a year. LOL. I was so slow to use it but it was still good. I threw the whole butternut squash into the blender with a cup of water, cup of almond milk, added cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice and agave sweetner. YUM !!!! It was a mostly RAW Butternut Squash smoothie.

Yesterday I got in 5 miles doing Leslie Sampson, working around the house, working out in front of the TV, rebounding on my PINK BELLICON, My endurance is improving along with my balance. The 2 pound weights came out during the Leslie Sansome workout. For 8 min. I moved my arms in many different directions to increase the cardo effect of the workout. This morning my reward was sore muscles all over. She smiles, PROGRESS IS BEING MADE !!!

My Workout room HAS COLOR which reflects ME. LIke this MAT.

It is always ready for ME. No More Excuses.

Since my Spark JOURNEY has begun, I made progress !!!

Now I can :

Such a great entry!!! I love the pictures you used this time, more than usual. Always "live with intention." One of the dumbest things people do (myself included), I think, is simply not considering whatever it is they should really take into consideration. Do you want to live your life on purpose or have it be one big oops? I'd rather live with intention, do things with intention....
Your list is remarkable.
And I think choosing not to use fake color in your hair is awesome. Be who you are! I joke a lot, I've been 28 years old now for a few years. In my teens I thought I'd be cool with this whole aging thing...but as it turns out, I'm not. LOL Still, I think one should be natural and true to themselves and I think hair dye is silly. I realize, if I go gray tomorrow I'll have to suck it up and wear it as is, but that is okay :) I think it is easier to feel good and be confident with yourself when you are not made up to look like someone you don't really look like. At least, I think it is a more satisfying feeling to be confident with the natural you.

I just turned 48 and I am determined that 49 will be even better as well.
I quit putting highlights in my hair 5 years ago; in an effort to expose my body to less chemicals. I just found my first gray hair last week. I am not scared.

I'm obsessed with all things pumpkin and apple these days. I can't get enough of either. I'm glad you found a way to enjoy the age old squash. I had no idea they would last that long. I love butternut squash. I think I need to put that on my grocery list for this week.

What a great list! You truly have a lot to be thankful for.

Introspection, Observations, and Ramblings

Friday, October 14, 2011

Yikes, I realized my biggest challenge is night-time Indulgences. Gasp !!! Now that I have noticed this issue it IT IS UP TO ME TO FIX THE ISSUE. I must develop a strength for the illogical desire to snack in the evening. It isn't always because I am hungry, so What is the Meaning Behind This. Why am I snacking?

Heck the 2 small apples I ate filled me up. They were delicious with cinnamon sprinkled on them. My stomach was satisfied and full, but the urge to snack on continued off and on.

My workout goal has been to stick with the 2.5 miles walk and jog workout and to develop improved tolerance to jogging. I am improving, in fact the other day I did 3.5 miles !!!

Today I only got in 1 mile before my dreaded dental appointment. There are issues going on inside my mouth. My teeth are decalcifying even with years of fluoride treatment from childhood to the point I developed flourosis. Over the last few years the enamel gets thinner and thinner wearing away creating cavities. So every visit results in more cavities. Its not that I don't brush. There is something wrong with my body's ability to utilize minerals properly or something. ??? I dread the cost of fixing them.

The stress of the evaluation due to my phobia of dentists triggered an increase in Multiple sclerosis symptoms. My body was so tired and weak I napped today resting. My hormones are off due to the nearing TOM making every symptom worse. Somehow hormones really set off MS symptoms making them hundreds of times worse. Hopefully menopause will help.

Overall my progress is better. I am making wiser choices with eating except at night. I am discovering better choices. My workout times are increasing in length, except for today and the other day when my calf muscle hurt up to the top of my hamstring. It was a small setback, but I used it as a rest day.

I reordered my protein shake filled with lots of veggies. Thank goodness its so nutritious and low cal.

Tomorrow I will start fresh again. Thank goodness for tomorrow.

The apples with cinnamon, although healthy, might not be filling you up at snack time. Your body might need some protein to keep it full.

There is nothing wrong with a slice of cheddar cheese, if you eat it in moderation (try 1 oz). Or, for a lower calorie cheese, try mozzarella; I always keep the Lite mozzarella string cheese sticks in my refrigerator.

I feel for you and your dental situation and the cost scares me too. I have had some work done that was expensive too.

Keep trying to figure out what are your cravings and what satisfies your cravings. Everybody is different. Dehydration gives you signs of hunger. Try to increase your water intake throughout your day. If that doesn't work, fill up on water before your craving time hits. That is what works for me.

Good luck and Good Health to you

Sorry to hear your teeth are giving you problems. Don't know if you drink it or not but sodas of ANY kind are horrific for our teeth and bodies.

My DD has thin enamel and she was warned about soda and also to rinse or brush her teeth after any sugar (including natural sugar in fruit).

I am also trying to beat the night-time snacking. WE CAN DO IT!

MISSLISA1973 10/15/2011 12:06PM

I tend to stay up too late and much of my nighttime snacking is then because I really should just go to bed. Yours might be because your body still needs something after all that exercise. Maybe planning for an evening snack that doesn't fill you with regret is just the ticket. Anyway, good luck as you work to figure it out.

Noticing the problem is a huge step, now you are ready to focus and fix the problem. Sometimes when I get the munchies at night it is because I did not eat enough through out the day. What I do is add a few extra calories to each meal. Another thing is figuring out what the craving is. I find I will eat little bits of a lot of stuff (which adds up) if it is not satisfying the craving. If I just eat what I am craving it is all better and I usually end up consuming fewer calories.

Maybe eating a little more (good) fat with your last meal would help. Fat is what keeps the tummy satisfied. Add some olives, or nuts, or avocado.. A cup of 1% milk does the trick for me.
emoticon

And I hate going to the dentist too! I avoid it as much as I can. I'm sorry you need to go so often.

I think night time snacking is a problem for many of us. I eat dinner about 7pm and still at 8pm I want a snack...cookie...bar whatever I baked this week. I'm getting that under control myself and stopping the madness. no baking this weekend so that should help. I'm replacing the snacking with night time tea or hot cocoa. I just made a vegan mix and I'm pretty impressed with the flavor.

Try eating some protein with your carb snacks. Eating carbs alone triggers hunger and cravings.

I hate dentists too. Ugh. I hope you feel better soon.

That's the great thing about life, each day presents a new start, an offering. I hope today is a good one for you. Think apples. I try not to keep those foods that draw me to them like a mindless fly out of the house. But DH brings in ice cream, chips, etc. Some days it's harder than others to resist.

I hope your dentist appointment goes well. Never fun.

Hang in there!

Yep I have the same problem. I can eat well all day and then in the evening I eat and eat and eat. Sometimes healthy and sometimes not but almost always it puts me over my goal calories and I believe is the reason behind my plateau last month.
I've found using good ol'self control helpful this week. (I made a point of memorizing a scripture verse on self control to which I've been bring out everytime I feel like giving in!) I've also taken to heart the quote from SP. "There are only two options regarding commitment. You're either IN or you're OUT. There's no such thing as life in-between."- Pat Riley, basketball coach. It's a good one
for me.

Someone else suggested brushing my teeth - that works in the short term.
Other suggestions include: Buy 100 cal packs of popcorn, drink water instead, budget enough calories for the indulgence(that one would never work for me.)
Hope something in there is helpful:-)

It's good that you see the positive hun, occasionally stuff happens and we can't workout for as long or as hard as we'd like, but that's okay, so is evening snacking. Snacking in itself is not a problem as long as its a healthy snack, you metabolize food ate in the evening the same as you do through out the day.

Yes I have heard Hormonial Changes can affect MS ..
In some cases the actually perform a hysterectomy to stop the changes!!
some times this works and some times it doesn't. so all very debatable!!.
Hope you have a better day tomorrow my friend!!
