I"M BACK !!! Back from the most wonderful vacation ever. My husband and I traveled to Trinidad Ca. and stayed a couple of nights in the most wonderful motel under the redwoods. We walked the first night on Trinidad beach trying to stay dry as the tide was coming in. Of course I got it big time. I just wasn't fast enough and agile enough to jump over the tide pools to miss being hit by a super big wave. Laughter escaped my mouth as I ran as nimbly as I can. My legs worked like magic as I ran quickly with ease much to my surprise. I leaped over the pools without much though. It felt like I was living my second childhood. As water dripped off my skin, I dried my electronics that helped me to move my foot.
We walked as far as we could in the cold brisk wind. The sky was a mix of clouds, sunshine, and fog as evening was closing in on us. We walked over the the other side of the beach and viewed lots of seals in the water. (NOT. It looked in the distance like the bodies of seals. When we got close we found it was rather large clumps of seal-looking sea weed. The Joke was on us. More laughter.)
We found trails among the redwoods and walked to the edge of a cliff where I stood watching the waves come in splashing against giant rocks. One was called the blow hole. The high waves created an effect that resembled a whale's blow hole when the water hit. The mist was blowing in my face leaving me feeling refreshed. To get to the blowhole one had to travel many yards bent over stepping over smusched bushes and bending your head down to keep your head from hitting the top of the branches. What an adventure !!!
The motel room was simply delightful as it sat under the canapy of the redwoods. The air smelled so pure and fresh as I took many deep breaths in. If only I could preserve the air and take it home with me. The grounds were very tidy with exotic looking large purple tibochianthus bushes. Foxgloves were growing, anenomies, roses, and other cool loving beauties. The room we stayed in was rather large and unexpectedly luxurious. The bed had soft down blankets, super soft sheets, and a wonderful comfortable mattress that cuddled my body as I slept after the busy day. It also had a kitchen with all they supplies one would need other than food. The owners of the motel installed a water filter with the best tasting purified water. It was the most comfortable place I ever stayed.
There was wireless internet so I posted on the first day. In the kitchen I rolled out the yoga mat and hooked up the computer. In the car I had stashed a fan as I have to stay cool to exercise, weights, and my exercise ball. In the luggage was a few dvds that I planned to do. So shortly after returning to the room I was in the kitchen with my hands on the counter doing my barre workout !!! It worked perfectly.
The next day my husband and I went agate hunting on the lagoon. We walked picking up beautiful agates tumbled by the ocean storms. We met an older couple who had some walnut sized agates who very generously gave me a handful to take home. Further up the lagoon they said there was a great site to find the treasures. However the tide was coming in and they said if you are out too long the waves wash over and there is no chance of escape. So sadly we had to stop looking for the time being.
Then it was off to another long walk under the redwoods. We walked about 2.5 miles admiring the old growth of the trees. We saw yellow banana slugs crawling around looking for its next meal. There were bridges over the wide creeks which roared under us, full from all the rain we have had. There were wildflowers everywhere mixed in with the all the ferns creating a fairy-like environment. We were all alone on the trails with the exception of one jogger.
My legs worked famously as the Prokarin patch worked it's magic on me. I was able to keep moving all day long with little rest time other than sitting in the car driving.
Then it was off to a different part of the lagoon to search for more agates. Dusk was falling as we walked through sand that shifted constantly under our feet. It was more gravel size and larger making it difficult to walk. We found another great site to hunt. The tide was coming in again and we ran out of light before we could find very many.
The next day we met a man on the lagoon who had a happy dog. My term for a golden lab. That dog had the biggest smile on its face as it sat in his pickup. My husband was asking for information on the tides as I petted the dog. The man said he called his dog a doctor as he had a special gift. I turned to the dog and said heal me. The dog then started licking the part of my neck where I have the lesions from MS. It felt like a massage as he used great pressure as he vigorously licked my neck. Then he nibbled on my earlobe with his teeth. My ear always feel full of pressure and hurts like I have an ear infection even though one is not present. He worked over that left ear and neck for some time. I laughed as it tickled. Normally I do not like dogs very much and I don't like them licking me. It felt like this one was special so I allowed his treatment to continue. He turned to the right side of my neck and just lightly for a very short time gave it treatment. That side wasn't the problem so he didn't continue. He went back to where he knew the problem was, the left side.
The dog gently took hold of my head in his paws and bit the base of my neck and head with his teeth. It felt like he was giving me a acupressure massage. He was gentle as he worked the are. It was another area with lesions that bothers me. How did he know????
Then he scratched at my back. It was cold, so I was wearing a sweater. I took off the sweater and he stuck his nose down my back and proceeded to work the area that has a thoracic lesion. ????? How did the happy dog know? He was so happy doing his healing on me he almost climbed out of the truck. He didn't want to let go of me.
Before his treatment to be honest I was doing rather crappy. I had over done my exercise the day before. So I was paying for it MS wise. It was so worth it for all the things we did. My speech was slurred when I woke up and I was weaker than normal. The med took its time to kick in. After the happy healing dog, my walking improved again and my speech cleared up. The rest of the day was spent agate hunting, running in and out of the waves bent over looking for the jewels. They glow like moonstones as the water hits them. They look luminous with a beautiful bluish glow making it easier to spot them. We had a blast finding them.
We ended our trip at Jedamiah Redwoods where I discovered the sheer pleasure of running under the giant redwoods. Never did I believe in my life that I would be able to run again. I ran without my cane. I ran as fast as I could laughing, smiling, filled with joy. I felt free like someone took the weights off my legs and I could finally move.
Over the last few days since we got back, my walking has further improved. Today we walked 3.15 miles. I was able to complete the whole walk at a brisk pace through the whole thing !!! Over that last few days my time has improved along with the strength.
Miracles are happening my friends. Miracles that are greatly appreciated.
Before the Prokarin I was searching for a walker on line and to purchase an electric reclining wheelchair. Now I don't need them.
