Today I ran the Lake Mineola Half Marathon as my 29th Half. It's been a crazy week with the Boston tragedy. I knew close to 20 people who were there and thankfully they're all okay. Such a shame, but I'm glad they've caught the culprits. Enjoyed seeing the running community come together in such incredible ways. At the race today, at least half of the participants wore blue and yellow for Boston Marathon colors and many had memorial bibs in addition to the race bib. We had a moment of silence before the race started. I even painted my toenails Boston colors. One year ago, my husband and I were there while he ran the race. I cheered for him very close to where the bomb went off. Gave me chills. But it doesn't deter me, I still have a goal to qualify for run the Boston Marathon, and hubby wants to do it again. Many prayers for those directly affected by this tragedy.
So the race today felt extra special. It was a race around a huge lake and the weather was perfect, which is so strange for this time of year in Central Florida. It was cool the entire race. Normally it would be in the high 80's with 90% humidity like it had been earlier this week. But I was appreciative and I know the weather contributed to me having a good race. Course is described as flat and fast. Well, not flat my by standards!!! Since I had been pacing all year, I had no expectations of this race. My goal is to do a 1:55 at my race in Niagara Falls in June. Well, I did that today - Woo Hoo! I was SO excited! And that's even with me having to walk a lot between miles 6 and 8 because I had to pee but no porta-potty, then finally stopped at one in Mile 8. So I was very pleased!!! So I'll be training to do even better at Niagara and if the weather holds, I may try for a Personal Best!
I hope everyone is having a great fitness weekend, reaching new goals!

It's been 2 weeks since I've done a race, and I'm having withdrawals lol! I had gotten so used to doing a Half Marathon every weekend, it's weird not to. My last race weekend was 3/23 & 3/24, ran a 5k on Saturday and my first Trail race, a 15k, on Sunday.
Working on getting my speed back so I can do a decent time at the Niagara Falls Women's Half in June.
I actually took 2nd place in my Age Group in the 5k. It was a nice small race close to home.
The Trail Race. Did I mention I had NEVER run on a trail before??? I really didn't know what to expect, but figured, "How hard could it be for only 9.3 miles?" Ha ha! Those were the longest 9.3 miles EVER! I took a nice fall in the 2nd mile and almost fell another 15 times at least! Had a walk a lot just to make sure I didn't trip. People say they love trail running because it's so beautiful, but I couldn't look at anything but the ground in front of me! I had signed up for a Trail 16 miler that was yesterday, but as soon as I went through the finish line of the 15k, I offered my 16 Miler Bib to a running friend. I was definitely not ready to race a longer distance!
I would like to get more practice running trails, though I don't see myself doing many of these races, as I'm just too scared I'll fall and break something! I was so sore from twisting and contorting my body to keep from falling so many times. And I didn't even get a medal lol!
Had a good 8.5 mile run today, Iron Girl Half is next week. Should be fun, I'm pacing the 2:30 group, then Half #29 the following week at Lake Mineola in the Orlando area.
So still having lots of fun! Hope you are too!

Haven't blogged in a bit, but I'm still here, and having a blast!
Since the last blog I ran the Columbia, SC Half Marathon and the local Beach Halfathon. I really enjoyed Columbia, but it was super hilly. That was my first true hilly course. But it was special because my Grandmother lives there and she got to see me do a race. Then a couple weeks later, did a local half with my hubby. He's starting to do more races, yay!!!
This weekend I'll do a local 5k and a 15k Trail race, which will be my first one so I'm excited, though it may rain. Then on 4/6, I'll do a 16 Mile Trail race, and on 4/14, I'll pace the Iron Girl Half, and on 4/20, the Lake Mineola Half in the Orlando area. That will be Half Marathon #29. So I thought I should celebrate for #30, so I'm doing the Niagara Falls Women's Half Marathon on 6/2. My birthday is 6/12, and I'll be changing age groups to the 45-49 category. So Niagara will be my 30th Half and my last race in my current age group! There are about 12-15 ladies from my area going, so it should be really fun! You get a bottle of wine in your goodie bag, the port-a-potties have flowers in them with a lavender scent, it's definitely a women's race! So I'm super excited!
I dropped about 6 lbs last month just paying better attention to what I'm eating, so I'm halfway back to where I was!
Also, when I ran the Half this past Sunday, I could definitely tell how pacing so many races at a much slower pace has slowed me down. It's taken it's toll, so I'm back to real training again, as I'd like to make a respectable showing in Niagara. I don't need or expect a Personal Best, but would like to get back to my average race time of 1:55ish.
I'll focus on a Personal Best this fall. I've registered for a USTAF Running Coach Course, which will be in May. I'm very excited about this. I've virtually coached over 20 people to their first 5k and Half Marathon, so I figured, I should get the credentials and continue to do it.
So busy, busy, busy but having fun!

It's been over a month since I've blogged so wanted to catch up! Been super busy between work, training and racing! So will keep this as short as possible
After being in weight maintenance for over 3 years, I put on 12 lbs between Dec and Feb!!! Reason? Training and doing 3 marathons in a month took it's toll. I ate everything in sight!!! Keeping the high mileage for a prolonged period was tough and I was hungry all the time, so I ate, and ate, and not always the right things. So I'm out of maintenance, but since I'm done with doing multiple marathons and done with marathons for several months, I'm back on track and plan to be back at goal within the next 8-12 weeks. I tend to lose weight slowly and I'm not doing any "crash" or "fad" diets. Just doing what I know. Eating clean and keeping up the exercise.
2) Since my last blog, I took some good recovery time after doing 3 marathons within a month and didn't run for 3 weeks. Then Rock n Roll St. Pete came along. I hadn't planned on running this race, even though I'm the local Ambassador for it. Was still wanting to take time to recover. I had only run 2 miles since the last marathon on 1/20 and had been nursing my right hamstring. But at the last minute they needed a pacer for the 2:30 group, so I volunteered. I had a blast and felt no pain during the race!
Then...I saw a picture of the medal for the Ft. Lauderdale A1A Half Marathon which was the following weekend and REALLY wanted it, but decided I wasn't going to do it. Then, on Tuesday of that week, my pace director called and asked if I could fill in for the 2:15 slot in the Half! It was FATE!!! Ha ha! So Mom and I headed to Ft. Lauderdale and I paced and got my Bling! Beautiful course along the Atlantic Ocean and we got lucky with 40-50 degree weather!
This weekend was the Gasparilla Distance Classic. I was really "saving" myself for this race, as I was scheduled to pace 4 races over the weekend for a total of 30.5 miles. So after now running 2 Half Marathons, could I do it?
Well I DID!!! Paced the 15k and 5k on Saturday, and the Half and 8k today! What made it really special was that it was 4 years ago this month that I ran my first race, the 15k at this event, and now I was pacing it! And today was my 25th Half Marathon!!! I paced the 11:00 minute mile for all races except the Half, where I paced the 2:15 group. I had so much fun and felt great! And strangely enough, I still feel great!
I dropped almost 3 lbs last week and had a well earned reward meal today so I'm back on track, feeling great and loving life! All glory to Yahweh!
