Woke up way too early, particularly since I didn't get to sleep until at least 1:00 a.m. :( Had a nice party with triangles last night. Started out slow, but it was low key and relaxed and we ended up having almost 100 people. I'm on the board next year, so that should be interesting. Luckily, there aren't any major events before I finish school in March. But we will have to really work ahead on the stuff for the festival in June.
Today is my big push day. Last night before I had to get ready for the party I was *really* close to completely finishing one of my classes!! I have to expand my financial analysis and add a couple of graphs to my final project and one more discussion posting, which isn't actually due until next Thursday, but I'm hoping to get it done so I can completely focus on the other class. I'm really behind on that one, but I think that once I have the other one out of the way it won't take too long to catch up. I've got everything framed up. Just have to do the writing. And then a power point deck will be a breeze.
Amazingly, still in really good shape on how well I'm doing on the food and didn't drink much last night, so hoping to get the scales moving back in the right direction this week.
Going to go get ready to get out the door so I can get all these projects in the can!!

I have seven days left to finish all of my work for both of my classes. No idea how I'm going to pull this all off, so of course I am blogging instead of writing papers and taking finals. :-/ So this is going to be short and sweet (relatively speaking).
Slept pretty well last night and all the way until 8!!! Woke up with hunger pains, which was weird. I had a pretty good meal at the Christmas party last night, but not too much and didn't go anywhere near the desert bar, which had a chocolate fountain. Not really will power on my part. I just wasn't hungry after salad, pasta, and roast beef. I missed a whole side of the buffet that had sushi and crab cakes, among other things. By the time I had my plate, I wasn't hungry enough to even go look. Probably could have drank a little less, but I'm still calling the whole thing a win. :)
Didn't get to work out yesterday. Got out of work a little after 1 and went to find a dress. I had something I could have worn, but it's a little baggy and all black. I wanted to see if I could find something funner. I found a GREAT dress at Ross for $29.99. SCORE!! And then I went to get my nails done and my eyebrows waxed. I had to leave early to beat traffic to get over the hotel in time to help set up and check people in for the party, so a workout would have really put me behind. Party went off without a hitch pretty much. The people who showed up that weren't on the guest list weren't such a big deal (after the organizer quit hanging around the table to basically tell them they shouldn't be there. (I KNOW). I understand the frustration, but at some point, you need to let it go and move on. Just not a big deal.
HUGE changes at work - AGAIN. But the opportunities are unbelievable!!!! Way too much to write about on that, so I'll save it for another day.
Was a text message from Christie about a walk when I woke up this morning and the temp was 36 (not the 20s they were talking about), so that answered the question about whether I was going to work out before or after (not likely) my homework. We had a great walk. I didn't even suggest running. My legs are like lead from standing around in heels all night last night. But we kept a really good pace, finished off with coffee and a nice long talk to catch up and here I am! Christmas party for Triangles tonight. And hoping I'll have a lot of stuff done before then so it won't be so much tomorrow.
So, signing off now so I can actually get some work done. All streaks, including diet coke are still intact!! WOOOO HOOOO!!!!

Didn't even heat it up. YUM!!! Brought leftovers for lunch, but didn't really eat dinner last night, so I figure now is as good a time as any. My stomach has never cared what time it is.
Anyway, had a great workout last night!! Already wrote about that. It's interesting that I can't run can't run can't run and then suddenly it works. Then I get to the part where I push it too far or have some kind of accident, related or completely unrelated, or need surgery (ganglion off the arch of my foot), etc. This time I've been walking hills regularly since August. That's different. And I'm not pushing. It's a hard balance to be so careful, but still work hard enough to make progress. So progress is slow, with error on the side of caution. But it's still progress :) The fact that we're still talking about it is progress!
Tonight is my company's holiday party. I'm leaving early because I'm going to be helping with check in. So I'm hoping to get out of here early enough to get a walk in before I get ready and get over there. But since I was working on homework late last night and didn't try on an outfit before I went to sleep, everything will depend on whether I can pull an outfit together quickly. Anyway, might not be able to work it in today, but I'm going to try my best. Have to get out of work early enough to go home, find an outfit, work out, shower, get ready, buy poinsettias, and be across town before rush hour hits. . . . on a Friday. Wish me luck!

I got home from work, on what would have been day three in a row without working out. NOT a streak I want to be on. But it was really hard to get out the door. Always seems harder once I miss a day, so I have to try not to do that. I sat with Maura for awhile before she went out to happy hour. I skipped happy hour today so I could get in a workout and get my postings done for class. One week from tomorrow, I'll be done with the quarter and will have only two classes to go before graduation!!!
Anyway, did some wind down with Pogo (should have gone right out for my walk), and didn't go out until after 7. COLD. It's getting cold outside. And the cold was making my headphones cold, which was making my ears cold right through to the nerve shooting down my neck. :-/ Will probably need a new plan for that. Probably just a light headband to keep the cold out of my ears. I also have the treadmill, so when it gets really bad - no excuses. But I digress . . . . I ran almost two whole songs twice! And ran almost a whole song about four other times. AWESOME!!! Really happy. Little twinge in my knee and still not going fast, but I can tell my legs are getting stronger, my hamstrings aren't bailing out on the easy runs, and I'm going way longer without the achy joints (that I'm blaming on the diet coke that I quit). I'm taking my time, but I think I'll be able to get intervals going pretty soon. I'm trying to run up the hills as much as I can to get stronger, but I need to start working speed as soon as I can do it without blowing something up. Keeping with the ultimate goal of "do no harm." :)
I'm registered for a 5K on New Year's Eve, in the lottery for the DC Cherry Blossom 5K in April, and registered for the Frederick Twilight 5K in May. Shooting for one a month at least. This is a deja vu thing (that didn't work out the last bunch of times), but hoping to really do it this time. Bottom line is I can walk it no matter what, so no pressure. But I really REALLY want to be able to do the whole run before April.
I wasn't going to count for this entry, but in case you're wondering if I'm not talking about it because I fell off the wagon, Day Four - No Diet Coke. :) And with this blog entry, all my other streaks are in tact too. :-D

Cold turkey is a big deal - so try to humor me :)
Third day off diet coke and still on the spark wheel, blog, and trivia streaks :)
Last couple of days have been off the routine with all day meetings and lunches being served there and a meeting after work last night with appetizer type food being served there. And I'm trying to kill the rest of the cappuccino slim-fast, so I haven't been doing the protein. I like that the slim-fast has 1/3 of the daily requirements for nutrition, but the carbs, particularly sugar, are really high, so I think it needs to be a once in awhile thing. I also think I get hungry faster with the slim-fast than I do when I do the protein. And last, but not least, I haven't been counting everything. So I'll get back on that today. Dodged a bullet and got out of a lunch meeting, so that will help. I have a really hard time not ordering something because it "comes with fries" and if you look at the nutritional values, the salads often have more calories than the burgers anyway.
Didn't workout last night. Hadn't slept the day before, and was in training sessions from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. I didn't get home until around 8:30. Just was tired and it was raining and probably wasn't a bad idea to give my knee a rest. Fell on it full weight night before last. It's doing way better than I though it would be by now. It hurt to walk into yesterday morning, but I've been keeping up with the motrin, so I think I should be able to run tonight. Hoping the rain lets up so I can go outside. If it's not raining hard, I'll go out anyway. Otherwise, I'll hit the treadmill.
I have a LOT of work to do in the next couple of days. I'm trying to frame out my perfect world for how my role is going to play out for my job. Wish me luck. It has to be really good so I can sell it. :)
