It's been a while

It's been a while since my last blog entry and since I've been on Spark People at all. I keep gaining weight, have a tendency to forget to take my metformin and have been really bad about giving in to cravings.

I've actually got a workout partner closer to home now (since my old one lives in Georgia and can't work out because she's on bed rest) and we plan on working out together every chance we get. I've started working out a weekly menu, making sure everyone gets all three meals during the day (especially the workout buddy who has a tendency to starve himself). Hopefully things keep up.

Okay, so I've been trying to get into the habit of eating a healthy breakfast under 400 calories every morning and getting at least a mile in with the Walk at Home program six days a week. I've managed to keep the breakfast thing up every day since I started, but I missed my mile yesterday and I might miss another mile on Saturday because I'll be visiting family. If I manage to get another mile in tomorrow and do something on Saturday to make up for the structured exercise that I'm going to miss, then I'm going to try and do two miles every other day starting next week.

Keeping motivated is a little bit harder this time around because I just moved recently and I'm still in the process of unpacking and finding a place for everything, not to mention that I need to make sure that everything's set up by the end of the month because we're going to have a roommate move in. The biggest problem is that I'm doing almost all of the unpacking by myself while watching my two year old because my husband works everyday and most of his shifts are til closing time.

However, I'm doing better now than I have been before, and I think a lot of that has to do with the major change of moving to a new state. A change of scenery has done me pretty well so far and I'm hoping to take up jogging this month through til it starts snowing. Also hoping to unpack my weights soon so that I can add strength training into the mix.

So I recently joined up with the Official Tame Your Sweet Tooth Challenge in hopes to be able to calm my sweet craving and make headway in losing weight. My biggest problem in weight loss is my giant craving for sugar. Usually it's pretty tame, but once I started trying to eat healthier it's been like I haven't eaten anything sweet in years and I just have to have it now.

I'm hoping I can stick with this challenge, because it's pretty much the only hope I have to reaching a healthier lifestyle...


I don't handle stress well

I am a stress eater by nature. The only exception to that rule is if I'm stressed out due to depression, then I starve myself from general disinterest in anything and lack of appetite. The past two weeks have been pretty stressful, and I haven't done well with keeping up with proper diet and exercise. I've gotten a lot done so far today alone, but I'm not entirely sure I'll actually be able to keep this up (not that I'm not going to try).

Oddly enough, for the amount of sweets I've consumed and time I've spent being generally inactive, I've shed a few pounds. I'm assuming it's just retained water though, so I'm not going to get my hopes up, and I'm definitely going to try to keep up with eating healthy and maintaining an active day.

So I couldn't actually get much structured exercise in for most of the week because of the cold I was trying to get over. I messed with my asthma bad enough to make it so that I couldn't breathe if I just went up and down the stairs.

I'm not letting that stop me though, the cold is finally gone and I've gotten a lot done this morning alone. So I'm going to keep at it. Though, I'm already considering changing my birth control, but that has a lot to do with the fact that I don't have insurance at the moment and won't have it the next time I'm supposed to go in. I will have insurance in a couple months though, and I'm considering switching to Mirena.

Still working to see if it's possible to lose and keep weight off with Depo though, since my goal is only 5lbs by the end of next month. We'll see how it works.
