C25k Week 2 and other random updates

Tuesday, April 28, 2009

I ran Day 1 of week 2 yesterday in 90 degree weather and I felt amazing!!!! I really did not believe I was going to finish all of the intervals when I began my walk to the trail but I did! I pushed myself and kept reminding myself there was a gorgeous pool to jump in to as soon as I finished and got home!

Then intervals did feel longer but, I suppose that means it's working! I'm not sore today and tomorrow is suppose to be much cooler so, I'm looking forward to that!

I weighed myself over the weekend and I've lost 3 pounds. I have a doctor visit on Thursday so, Thursday will be my weigh in day this week.

Only one run left in Week 1!

Thursday, April 23, 2009

I'm feeling great after today's second c25k run! I can't believe there is only one run standing between me and the end of week one ... and a new running outfit! I'm eating more calories than normal but stayin within my range. Before I started running, I don't think I was eating enough so, now, I am making sure I am getting the energy I need. When I'm not running, I do full body strength workouts or pilates on my active rest day.

Feeling great and haven't been more confident before in my life! emoticon

I've finally learned ...

Tuesday, April 21, 2009

Slow and steady wins the race. It seems like every time I fail at a diet it's because I keep trying to change everything at once. I have finally figured it out. Small changes = big results. This month I have focused on finding a comfortable calorie range. I have been logging my meals and exercised for the next day on the night before. This way, I already have an idea of what I can and want to eat as soon as I wake up in the morning and then adjust as needed during the day. It has really been helping me keep myself accountable.

On the exercise front, I began the c25k program this week. This means, I'll be doing running/walking intervals 3 times a week! On my other days, I'll do strength training or pilates.
I do need to buy a new scale but, for now, I'm quite content just going about my daily business and knowing I'm doing well for myself. I have a doctor appointment at the end of the month so, I guess I'll find out my weight then. It feels wonderful to finally have a solid grasp on changing to a healthy lifestyle!

April Showers ...

Friday, April 03, 2009

Well, it's officially spring, and, it's officially time for me to get in shape. This month, I have fully committed to getting in to shape so I can begin to worry about getting pregnant. Here are my goals to lose 10 pounds this month:

Diet:
1. Eat no less than 1200 calories but no more than 1400 calories
2. Drink 8 glasses of water every day.
3. Eat 5 servings of fruit and veggies each day
4. Watch my coffee in take
5. Completely eliminate fast food BY MYSELF from my diet.
6. Even out to 8330 calories consumed each week.

Exercise:
1. Exercise for at least 30 minutes a day - 6 days a week.
2. Burn 2000 calories from exercise every week.

On Monday, April 13 (10 days from today) I will check in and see how I'm doing. Feel free to comment and keep me motivated this month!!!

I can't believe my eyes!!!

Wednesday, January 14, 2009

I don't usually like to brag but I have finally seen the benefits of being serious about this whole thing! When I weighed myself on Sunday morning I discovered that I was down 3.5 pounds from my original weight! I have never before seen that kind of difference in my weight and I feel so pround that I have FINALLY made a difference in my body.

This week, I got off to a rocky start. On Sunday, I ate all of my calories through dinner at my in-laws' house, Monday was a crash dinner outing to a buffet, luckily, I stuck to the soup and salad bar and tried my best to good decisions, then, yesterday, Tuesday, I went out to eat at a diner and got an awesome fatty flatbread sandwich. Fortunately, I stayed within my range yesterday as well.

Today, I'm working on getting back on track and I'm not expecting as much of a loss this week but I am thrilled I started off so well! I hope everyone gets to have this experience at some point!
