and the new year is here

Sunday, January 01, 2012

and I am glad of it... looking forward to a wonderful year with hope and gratitude. Today's plan is a long walk with the dog, a treadmill workout, weights (it's 4 months since surgery so I think I can safely use upper body weights again - threat of lymphedema seems to be past.) After that, I'm going to do some work projects that need completing and then catch up on some reading. Feeling happy - and content.

An exciting new year is ahead

Saturday, December 31, 2011

Looking forward to a wonderful new 2012. I'm already seeing alot of great work, impactful work ahead, along with a wonderful family life. My re-ordering of priorities continues, and a few (not too many) resolutions for the year will round out the equation and allow my continued progress.

I am setting a new goal of 125 lbs by Feb 15 - that will allow for a fluctuation of 3-4 pounds but not get above 130 (I seem to fluctuate in weight about 3-4 pounds over time anyway, I might as well accommodate what is already happening and adjust goal.)

Looking ahead!

leading up to a new year

Friday, December 30, 2011

continuing to take stock of life... small things like cleaning out closets, making room for important things & giving away not-so-important things... and big things like thinking ahead to the business year ahead and what my priorities will be.

Had radiation at 7:30 this morning, was glad to be done early. Did 24 minutes on treadmill, on track to meet weekly goal tomorrow. Did work this morning and have a meeting off site at 2:00. Should be interesting.

Moving ahead with a positive attitude - will be done with radiation on Jan 13 (last treatment day.) Then will be taking Tamoxifan and getting on with the rest of life.

Feeling strong.

more to tackle today

Thursday, December 29, 2011

Well so far today I've had radiation treatment, breakfast, done the grocery shopping & banking, and competed one work project. Have a conference call in a few minutes, then back to another work project. After lunch, planning a long walk with the dog then a treadmill workout. Aiming for a higher calorie burn today. My body feels like it needs more today.

Staying positive, busy, and looking forward to dinner with a good friend this evening!

January = new

Wednesday, December 28, 2011

I have always looked at this coming month as a new beginning... A chance to start again - an opportunity for renewal & revision. That is magnified this year due to being almost done with radiation treatment and moving to Tamoxifan - and ongoing uncertainty. I will have an MRI every 6 months, but in between will not know recurrence status. (my recurrence odds are 3% according to the data.)

I intend to keep moving - doing good work, spending time with family (son, dogs) and many good friends, having adventures in learning & discovery, and of course daily exercise/workouts of at least 40 min/day and eating 1500 cal/day or less.

On to the day!

It sounds like you have been through a lot, but have an extremely positive attitude! Spending time with family and friends is what it is all about. We can make January the best ever!
