Why the hell did I eat that cereal??!

Wednesday, April 21, 2010

I ate frosted mini wheats this morning and now my head is hurting so bad it could bust! I KNOW better because of my insulin resistance, but sometimes I give in to my desire for foods that are not the best choices and now I have to pay the piper! My blood sugar is through the roof right now..I feel like an idiot! emoticon

Sometimes there are foods we just can't resist... it sounds like your reaction will be a reminder of what not to eat in the future.

I have been right where you are many times. I have been able to go off my insulin shots due to weight loss, care, and working out... BUT if I dont watch what I eat I am in big trouble. It's just so hard to remind ourselves of the consequences when it comes to yummy foods. Just keep trying!

Even through the mess-I Am BLESSED!

Tuesday, April 20, 2010

Thank you guys for the support. I'm a bit of a perfectionist which means I often get in the way of myself! I've tried to learn that the most important things in life have nothing to do with whether or not the floors are spotless. I try to focus on my children, and if that means playing with them instead of cleaning because my back can only handle one or the other, then that is what I do. I used to sulk and think "When I lived by myself, my house was spotless...what happened?". Now I realize that LIFE has happened, and my loving husband and 2 beautiful, healthy children are worth every speck of dirt...no matter how long it takes me to clean it. I am BLESSED! !

You are so correct. We all lose focus on the bigger picture sometimes but it is nice when we can step back and see that the latter is so much better than the previous.

You have a wonderful family..God Bless...

Stopping my Janumet today!

Monday, April 19, 2010

I've been on this med. for about 4-5 months and the side effects aren't worth it. My blood glucose is elevated in the AM (160-190) and I'm not losing any wt. with it (which is why the Dr. put me on it to begin with). Also having feelings of panic/anxiety and stomach spasms, along with spasms in my neck and shoulders. I will continue to take Metformin and increase my dosage to 2500 from 2000 and see if this helps. We'll see!

An optimistic viewpoint on a pound of fat! STOP YOUR BELLYACHING!

Saturday, April 17, 2010

I have been so disillusioned with the scale over the past week and have let my impatience get the best of me. I read this tonight and had to post it because it really made a difference in my outlook!****HELLO, do you know me? If you don't, you should. I'm a pound of fat, and I'm the HAPPIEST pound of fat that you would ever want to meet. Want to know why? It's because no one ever wants to lose me; I'm ONLY ONE POUND, just a pound!
Everyone wants to lose three pounds, five pounds, or fifteen pounds, but never only one. So I just stick around and happily keep you fat. Then I add to myself, ever so slyly, so that you never seem to notice it. That is, until I've grown to ten, twenty, thirty or even more pounds in weight. Yes, it's fun being ONLY ONE POUND OF FAT, left to do as I please.
So when you weigh in, keep right on saying, "Oh, I only lost one pound."
(As if that were such a terrible thing.)
For you see, if you do this, you'll encourage others to keep me around because they'll think I'm not worth losing.
and I love being around you - your arms, your legs, your chin, your hips, your stomach, your organs...and every part of you.
Have a nice day...
After all, I'm ONLY ONE POUND OF FAT!!!

Please help me through this plateau!

Friday, April 16, 2010

How could I have hit a plateau so early on? I have been counting EVERY single calorie and working out. I thought maybe my cals were too low (1400) for my size. I've been eating smaller meals throughout the day to help my metabolism and doing some sort of exercise every day. I thought it was because it was that time of the month, but its gone and the scale still won't budge. I am fighting every day to keep the scale from going up and to keep the 10 lbs off that I lost, whereas I should be losing weight. Am I going to have to go on a liquid diet to get the scale moving??? (Kidding) I'm eating lower fat, higher protein, higher fiber and drinking TONS of water AND watching salt intake. I know muscle weighs more than fat, but could I really have gained muscle in the last few wks. with just cardio and a few curls? Any Suggestions are welcome..I am so disillusioned right now! emoticon emoticon

what kind of workouts are you doing? If you're doing the same thing every day it eventually becomes less effective. Have you been doing ST as well? That's what broke my last plateau.
My advice is just to mix it up however you can--and don't give up! You can do it!

I would try to mix up your cardio sessions and work in some new strength moves if you haven't done that yet. Over time your body will get used to the intensity and type of exercise you are doing. By changing things up, your body will start to exert more effort and it should help the weight come off again. Good luck and chin up!

I seem to be in a plateau aswell. I think for me, that my body has gone into "store it" mode. I think that I've lost for a few weeks and now my body is tricked into thinking "starvation, or store it" I am just going to keep doing what I've been doing. I feel better for it and I know it's working. My clother fit loosly now. I took measurements and I've lost 9 inches.

I also read yesterday about one woman taking a picture of herself every day, just for such occasions as this. When she hits a plataue she flips through daily pictures to see her accomplishments! I am going to start to do the same thing.

Don't give up, just keep pushing on. You can do it!

Make sure you are eating enough calories for the amount your burning, try re-adjusting your nutrition/fitness goals a bit. Something else that may help is just keeping a variety to your work outs, try doing at least 1 cardio work out you don't normally do once a week (try rock climbing, go roller blading, etc.)

good luck! emoticon

I'm totally on a plateau too, right after losing 10 pounds. Don't be discouraged -- you know from the math that it *is* working, but your body has natural swings to it that will level out with time. The important thing is that the overall trend is, and will continue to be, down! As long as you're honestly sticking to your calories and getting exercise, it will happen. Although it sucks, just stick with it and be patient. emoticon

Try eating more calories than 1400 a few days a week, change your workouts, drink LOTS more water! I also found an article that might help! Good luck!

Well first off, don't get discouraged. It sounds like your doing what you need to be doing. Try and change up your workout. If your doing the same thing over and over your body will get used to it. Also, how late are you eating? Try not to eat to late in the evening because its harder to burn those calories, and they end up going to bed with you :) Good luck, and don't give up the scale will move!!
