Uhhh say wut?! Only gained 3.5 lbs in the last 4-5 months?!

So I've been avoiding my scale like the plague, and that was made much easier by the batteries in it being dead. The last time I weighed in, via sparkpeople, I was at 143.8.. Then I went through the holidays at home AND work (boy, do they like pot lucks!!) and finally manned up today and got some batteries and weighed in.



I will say that I think I have lost a few pounds the last month or so, I've been better about counting calories and working out, but in no way did I think I was that low?! I was expecting 150-155 range..

This has totally made my day/week.. I also think I've lost some muscle weight and have fat instead, so my new goals..

- get a flat tummy!
- get around 140 and reevaluate, I think I'd be pretty happy around then and what I really want is to be..

TONED.. and I'll need muscle mass to be that, so I accept I may have a higher weight than 140.

But WOW! SO PROUD OF MYSELF!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

I've been pretty busy lately and getting on spark for as much as I used to is definitely a thing of the past. I've been trying to track food and exercise on here, though...

I've been working out fairly consistently and cut back on the booze (not an easy feat), but I just wasn't getting the results I was wanting (of course, the batteries are dead in my scale, so I don't *really* know this, but.. I can tell).. I think I've managed to at least maintain and not gain (much) but there were still weeks where I would end up sacrificing a work out for one thing or another, so I didn't burn as many calories as I wanted..

Then, Wednesday AM, I took the leap I never once thought I would..

I woke up before the *ahem* crack of dawn (5:30, to be exact) and worked out BEFORE work.. and, I kinda liked it!

It has been a little rough, but I know as my body adjusts, I'll get more used to it and be able to stay up a little later (in bed by 9:30 last night.. and not far behind tonight)..

And one thing that has really helped??

sleeping in my workout clothes. seriously. if you're trying morning workouts, do this.

1. easy to get out of bed and not change into cold clothes
2. you're gonna feel dumb if you don't work out and have to change out of them..

Hopefully I'll be back in a few weeks with good news!

A Review of 2011, and Looking Ahead to 2012

I see my last post was in early August, and I won't deny I haven't been on here much, but that doesn't mean I haven't been working out!

Triumphs of 2011:
emoticon I started the year working out, and ended it that way! Now I can't lie that I fell off a bit the last few months, but I still want to work out, and didn't have any *major* long spells as I have had in the past
emoticon A lot of good LIFE changes - moving(although moving again at the end of the month), starting an internship (starting full time next week), finishing my thesis (holy cow never thought that day would come!)

Downfall: Gaining some of the weight back *sad face* Although I continued to work out, I wasn't working out enough to counteract all the extra calories I have ended up eating through work and the holidays.

2012 Goals:
emoticon Continue working out, get more of a regular schedule going
emoticon Take a fitness class - looking at a Zumba class offered by the local parks and rec
emoticon Make better eating choices. Allow myself treats now and then - a beer and indulgent meal once or twice per month with co-workers (instead of weekly), and try not to eat too much at work functions or lunches!

I think the last will be the hardest, but the most rewarding coupled with my continuation of working out. This will help me reach and MAINTAIN my goal..

I hope to stick around here more, but fitness is my first goal while sparking is second!

Getting back into the groove of things..

Soo.. it's been a few weeks, almost a month! Things have been crazy busy for me. Nephews were in town and we went down to the lake for a week (had plenty of swimming and fishing for exercise!) and then the next week I was moving back "home" (until I find a job... grr) and working on a paper to submit to a conference (it's kind of a big deal).. This last week I've been settling in and trying to get into the groove of things (still some moving and stuff to keep me moving)

Things are starting to settle down (except going to St. Louis this upcoming weekend for a conference) and I'm ready to get back to being a little more accountable with sparking. so just some notes of where I am now and where I am hoping to go!

emoticon Luckily I have managed to not GAIN any weight (yet) and actually lost a little (woohoo!)
emoticon BUT I'm afraid some of the muscle definition I got is starting to go (hopefully it's not *too* late)
emoticon SO, I'm getting back into it NOW before it's too late! Did Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred and I am FEELING IT! Walking down the stairs is uncomfortable, lol..
emoticon I am pretty happy with where I am, but I'd like to get a few more pounds off/tighten up my stomach
emoticon RIGHT NOW I am thinking - at least 3 days of the 30 day shred/week and maybe 2 days of 'Walking off the Pounds' or something similar.. depends on how sore I feel!

    Ooh, I love workouts where I can feel the burn, but still move around a bit emoticon. Sounds like you've got a good plan with the 30DS and Walk of the Pounds. emoticon
