Update #2 - Still Here

It's taken awhile, but here's the latest update: I've been a lazy bum for the last two months. September and October where absolutely non-productive. I gained about 2lbs - at the end of August I was at 196.5 and now (as of this morning) I am at 198.8. I let the stress of traveling back in Sept and the sum total of my previous successes go to my head and consequently I slipped off the wagon. Well, I'm back in form and ready to continue on my journey to sustaining a healthy me. I've joined the 10-min Spark Challenge group, and I have joined the Atlanta Team's 180 minute cardio challenge. I have no doubt I WILL succeed at all I set out to do, it's just a matter of timing. I can procrastinate and thereby extend the time it will take for me get where I'm going, or I can remain consistent... It's up to me.

Update #1 - May 25, 2010

Okay, so this is my first blog post on Spark Ė Yay! At my last weigh-in (Saturday, May 22nd) I was at 200.8 Ė very good considering the slow start (being sick, having an endoscopy, blahblah). Itís been a hell-a slow go scale-wise. I guess thatís part of the problem: I have let the numbers on the scale define my level of success. The tape measure has been favorable all-around and yes, my clothes fit better and all of that good stuff, but why in the hell has it been so hard to see the scale actually reflect positive progress? Telling folks youíve lost 7 pounds since February isnít as glamorous as saying youíve lost a pound or two pounds a week!

All things considered, I am very happy to be feeling better physically and mentally. My goal of eating consciously has been going along quite well. Iíve surprised myself on numerous occasions by avoiding the temptation to drink and eat unnecessarily. My muscle strength and stamina has increased (probably the reason why the scale hasnít shown my weight decreasing dramatically Ė thatís a good thing), and my progress with the Couch 2 5K program has been steady, fun, and challenging! I am currently on Week 5, Day 3 and holding Ė I am not going to move forward until jogging for 20 minutes straight is a breeze.

I am excited about this upcoming weekend for a couple of reasons: 1) Itís a holiday weekend and 2) It will be time to take new body measurements. I am hoping my wife and I obtain favorable results. Wish us luck!
