I have a LAP!

Monday, March 07, 2011

Sitting at my computer today, Sparking, with a cat comfortably curled on my lap..........I realized that I HAVE A LAP for the cat to relax on! In the past, with my tummy extending halfway to my knees I had no lap to speak of. If the cat wanted to keep me warm I had to either put my feet up and lean back (tough at a computer) or push my legs up on my toes (while sitting) so the cat leaned on my tummy & wouldn't fall off my very narrow lap.

I realized that I can also lay my infant grand-daughter in my lap so her head rests on my knees and her little bottom is up against my abdomen. What fun!

What a wonderful perk of this new lifestyle!

That is wonderful. I have noticed some strange things too--like when I hold my 19-month old granddaughter, her legs grip firmly around my waist. There was no waist before and it was too big for her to get her little legs around. I can also cross my legs!

Day 06 - A picture of a person you'd love to trade places with for a day.

This is a pic of my hubby & our youngest daughter at her wedding rehearsal in 2008. Yep, we are all Disney fans!

I'd like to trade places with my husband for a day......since we were first married almost 37 years ago I've wished I could spend a day in his shoes. I'd love to see how he see me.....what he feels when he looks at me. I'd like to know what sex is like from his side of the bed.

I've always thought it must be really tough to be a man whose spouse is a stay at home mom......to have the financial responsibility for a family. I try to be understanding of what his life is like but I know I really don't have a clue..........

You are INCREDIBLE! Thank you for the chuckle "about wondering what sex is like from his side of the bed." lol Somehow I just never ever ever ever imagined you saying something as such! The rest....yesssss I completely believe I could have imagined you saying before this was ever written, because you are so very warm hearted....but sex....wow....I sooo THANK YOU FOR THE SOFT GIGGLES that are still coming from me. These are few and far between now for me. What used to be all out belly laughs have become a little smile every now and then, and I sooooo thank you for shocking the living daylights out of me! You ARE FANTASTIC! A most caring wife as well.

Much like you, I am feeling for my husband more and more so with each passing day. We truly counted on both of our incomes to make it financially in life. You are blessed to have the oppertunity to be a housewife. In our case as you realize, it wasn't a decision we agreed on~my accident decided it for us. Now those normal bills are quadrupled what they used to be, and catching up may never happen. Should we have to take out bankruptcy, I pray God understands we aren't trying to ditch bills, but trying with all our might not to drown. This was a WONDERFUL BLOG!

God Bless You Terry,
~Diane~

Gosh--I hadn't thought of that--living life for one day as my husband. You would certainly get a different perspective, wouldn't you? You'd find out what his job is like, what it feels like to be the one who has to do all the physical stuff around the house, and like you say, what it feels like to be a man sexually. It would sure be interesting, and might make you more empathetic to his needs and thoughts. I wish we could do that--but just for ONE DAY!

I understand what you mean, I too am a stay at home mom. Yet I can't help to wonder at times if my DH has a clue what I do all day long too. It is tough to go to school for both undergrad and graduate school and find yourself leaving that professional life behind for the sake of the children. But as a couple we thought it was the best decision for us as a family. There are days when I don't have any adult interaction for long blocks of time. It gets lonely, frustrating and just simply boring at times. And I have active, sweet & well mannered children too. Can't imagine the stay home parent that does not have great kids like me. It must be even tougher. As for being the parent that works... I have been there too. Once a mom always a mom, there no such thing as a part time mom even if she has a full time job!

Day 05 - A picture of your favorite animal

I think I may be cheating on this a bit but my cat, Hobbs, is my favorite animal!
He will be ten this spring. We are also owned by his litter mates, Calvin & Cindy.
My daughter and I rescued Hobbs and the rest of his family when he was only a few days old. He was the runt of the litter and didn't nurse well so I bottle fed him for months. He truly became like a baby to me. I love my little guy!

My first 5K

Saturday, February 05, 2011

Hubby and I had a great time this morning run/walking our first 5K.

The course was on city streets about ten miles from home. It was completely flat so I think it was a great choice for our first time out. We don't have official times but I think my time was about 43 minutes and hubby's was about 41 minutes. Last year the race attracted about 1200 runners and it seemed like there were about that many today.

We took at look at the times for the front runners and they were amazing.......the first runner came in at just a little over 15 minutes and was in his 30's. There were two kids, a boy 9 and girl 10 who ran the race in under 20 minutes. I was SO impressed! Everyone was friendly and the race was well run. It even included a pancake breakfast.

We surprised ourselves by running about 70% of the time. It is much easier to keep up the pace with so many people doing the same thing! I can't wait to participate in my next race!

The starting line!

I wish my mouth had been closed........next time!

It is amazing what time people can run in a flat 5K. Usually the ones around here are all high school kids that run them in 15-17 minutes. Only in my dreams!

I'm glad they were able to have that run this year, I think last year they had to cancel it. One of these years I'll make it down there to run it.

Are you ready for the next one? They get addicting.

Day 04 - A picture of the cast of your favorite TV show

NYPD Blue has been off the air for at least five years now but it's still my favorite show! I can't even find reruns and only four seasons have been released on DVD. I found it filled with complex story lines and characters. I loved watching the characters grow and evolve.
