I am not feeling it today. I am exhausted, I have a headache, and I have a sore throat.

I DO NOT want to be getting sick!

I WILL NOT get sick!

To keep from getting/staying sick I have a plan:

Gargle with hot salt water and take a teaspoon of honey & lemon juice. (to get rid of this pesky sore throat.) Eat a healthy breakfast. Drink a ton of water. Go for a walk in this beautiful weather. Go to bed early tonight. Oh and actually try to get some work accomplished today!

    I love drinking Slippery Elm tea when I feel a sore throat coming on.

Oh spark, how I've missed you. I've been at it on here for 4 days now and I am remembering why I loved it so much last year.

I did pretty darn good without you but I think I need your help again. Last January I was at 163lbs by march I was down to 154! I am back up to 159 and ready to lose those pesky 5-10lbs again before summer.

My plan:
track my Calories (1200-1400/day)
track my exercise (running / ab work / will add strength training soon!)

Monday I ran/walked 2 miles
Tuesday I ran/walked 2 miles
Wednesday I walked 1 mile
Thursday I ran/walked 2 miles
Friday I will run/walk 2 miles
Saturday hiking with my wonderful husband!

Next week I'm going to kick the running into high gear. I should be up to 3 miles by next Friday (running more than walking!)

That's it for now...just thought I would write this down so it is set!

BAD weekend!

I don't want to elaborate too much on the atrocity that was this weekend.

Long story short...We ate Mexican food for lunch on Saturday followed by birthday cupcakes (2) and birthday lemoncake (1/2 slice) and birthday yellowcake (1 slice) then BBQ on Sunday for lunch. To top all that off...I have a sharp pain in my right knee when I run so my 3 mile run today turned into a 2 mile followed by a mile walk.

BAD weekend...

...here's to a better week :-)

    that's a lot of birthday stuff!
I had a kind of bad weekend too- I went out and drank half a bottle of wine at a wine bar! 4 people split 2 bottles- it was great to catch up with them, but that's a lot of glasses of wine for me!
It will be a great week though- even without cupcakes or wine ;)

WOOHOO!!! I am so excited this morning! :)

My scheduled "weigh in" and body composition testing is tomorrow but I stepped on the scale about 30 minutes ago and it read...

drum roll...


Tomorrow will be exactly 1 month from the day that I started this journey - thanks in part to tight fitting jeans and a handy dandy Bella Band. So in 1 month I went from 163 to 156 - 7 pounds!! Holy Moly!

Can you tell I'm a little excited?

Tomorrow will be the true test though...bad fat analysis and measurements (ooh I am so excited to see those measurements!)

    You totally have to fill us in when you get your measurements. How exciting! :) I haven't even done a body fat analysis yet . . I know I still have WAY too much to lose . . I'm saving that till I have about 40 left to lose . . then I can really start whittling myself down. :)

Early Success...maybe

On February 26th I got a "before" body composition done at the gym. The results were: 161 lbs 26.02% body fat (41.89 lbs of fat)

Yesterday, March 10th I weighed in again using the same Omron Bioelectric Impedance Monitor. In 2 weeks my new results are: 159 lbs 23.8% body fat (37.84lbs of fat)

Now I don't know how accurate these devices are and I hate to get my hopes up but...holy cow if the readings are true then i lost 4 lbs of fat and gained 2 lbs of muscle! IS THAT POSSIBLE?

Let me know what your thoughts are on these monitors? I know you can get more accurate results with other methods but could this be even close to accurate? I guess I wasn't expecting such quick results.

    It's absolutely possible to gain that much muscle in just over a month . . and lose that much fat! Absolutely! Especially if that boot camp is kicking your butt. Every time you tear down your muscles (aka . . use them in a strength training type of activity), you tear down the muscle fibers and they have to rebuild. As long as you are getting your protein daily, those muscles are going to rebuild and add mass to themselves.

So great job! You'll be at your goal in NO time! :)

    Hmm...I wish I could give you a definitive answer! I know that losing that much weight in fat is possible, but my knowledge about gaining muscle needs work. Either way, it doesn't sound too far fetched! Keep it up!
