Cursing my Fitbit

Tuesday, January 08, 2013

Today my fitbit shows that I walked a little over 20,000 steps. If you aren't familiar with Fitbit, you sometimes get some encouragement and motivation on the screen. I have seen things like "looking good" 'good job' etc. So, I took it off to take a shower. After finishing my shower, I picked it up to see "step it up" on the screen.

You know what Fitbit ... &&%$^^#$*))*^&%$#$%^#$^^%@@!#%&&**(&^%$%^

LOL I love this thing.

Church people!

Sunday, April 08, 2012

Tonight I went to candle light mass. The mass starts outside a moves inside with everyone carrying candles that were lit while we were outside. Before the mass starts, everyone is passing around baskets of candles so that everyone can get what they want. If you happen to miss the baskets as they pass you, not to worry, you can go up to the front where there are huge boxes of them for the taking. We all pray, get our candles lit, proceed inside. Beautiful.

Now realize that there are tons of people there because it is a holiday but most were gathered in the front as there was also baptisms going on. Also because it is a holiday, the mass was longer than its usual 1 hour. But, it seems some Catholics can only stand an hour because at the hour point some people started leaving. The whole thing ended up lasting about 3 hours.

Anyway, to wrap up this story... We go to communion and the area that I was sitting was not a lot of people after the exit at the 1 hour mark. In fact, I was the only person on my whole row. There was a couple sitting behind me and on there row was a lady at the far end. I find my row coming back from communion because I have my jacket and 2 candles. We stand for the final prayer and then the priest exits and so does the couple behind me. I stay for the final song. When the song is over, I turn back to pick up my jacket and candles. Hum... jacket but no candles. Wow.

Did I mention that when mass started, you could have grabbed as many candles as you wanted. Wow.

Heee Heee, Easter Vigil. We go every year to and it is amazing how it starts out with so many and ends with less. I get more excited as the mass goes on but......

My kids love to "be helpful" and pick up the candles after the vigil Mass, but that sounds like someone took it too far!

What was I thinking?

Monday, September 07, 2009

I went to a dollar store on my way home frome the gym today to get some cottage cheese. I went to the cooler area and bought eggs, milk, cookies, cauliflower, and yogurt. They didn't have any cauliflower.

Hey did you notice the COOKIES!!!! What was I thinking. They are soft cookies with a key lime frosting and 180 calories for ONE. Luckily there are only 10 in the package. Anyway, I ate one after lunch and it was sooooooo good. I don't know what I was thinking. I immediately wrapped up the rest of them and put them in the BACK of the freezer.

I knew that I could not just leave them on my counter and I know that I they will take a while to thaw so they will just be there until I am about to kill for something sweet and I can take out JUST ONE.

If I can't resist, they will go in the trash. It wouldn't be the first time something had to go in the trash. Hopefully, I am getting better at the whole eating thing that they can live in the freezer unitl a "sweet emergency" or a guest comes by and not make it to the trash.

I know about going into a store for vegetables and coming out with ice cream or Chips Ahoy double fudge chocolate chip cookies, but unlike me you were able to eat just one, congratulations!

Hey! You ate just ONE. That is great! Personally a little bit of sweet is required for me to lose weight. If I don't give myself a little bit of wiggle room It doesnt feel like life to me it feels like prison.

I do a crazy thing where I buy something I shouldn't be eating and I put it in easy reach and torture myself with it. I made beautiful chocolate chip cookies and left them on the counter to see how many I would eat. I ate 2 in 3 days, which wasn't that bad IMHO so I let my husband eat the other 4. (At one time I would have eaten all 6 immediately, straight from the pan!)

Still Here

Sunday, August 30, 2009

Ok, so as I said, I am still here. I have not worked out for about a week now. My eating has been OK for the week but I did have some moments of "lapse" I have gained about 3 pounds. Not bad.

Usually my workout routine goes like this. I go to the gym almost everyday and sometimes it is literally everyday. I get addicted to it. When I don't go, I really miss it and feel it. But, if I miss about 4 days in a row, it turns into about 6 months. emoticon

I will say that I probably will not go today but tomorrow I am back at it. I have to keep up because in the coming months, I will be back in tax school and then tax season emoticon So, I can't let myself get behind the 8 ball now.

Back to the gym I go and also stop eating out with certain people.

I think that we all have a tendency to stray from what we know is right in all areas of life. I haven't gotten back in the gym yet and am feeling fine now. I'll make you a deal, I'll go tomorrow if you do!

I feel the same way and have been having a similar problem. I get gung-ho on being "perfect" and following the program and one candy bar later, I have given in and am on a steep downhill slide until the next time I can get a grip and be "perfect" again. I have been doing well with exercise because I love working out at Curves and force myself to walk to class since I didn't buy a parking pass, but eating is a huge problem. I have recommited, but still struggle. Good luck to you on your journey and hopefully we can both make this work!
