Spuratic blogger

Looks like I'm a spuratic blogger. I have been very busy with work and some days it's all I can do to track my food. I'm going to make this a priority - Blog at least once a week, either Saturday or Sunday, and track my improvements.

We'll see if saying this publicly will give me the boost in momentum I need to achieve this goal!

    It is so hard to blog - to keep track - kitchen work - chefs we just don't have the time.
Do we have lives outside of the kitchen ? some times...

Still losing!

I am sick as all get out - didn't work out yesterday or today. Pounding headache and coughing up goo. Stepped on the scale and lost 3lbs! Of course, the only thing I'm able to do is drink so that helps. Hope I feel better tomorrow, I need to get back into my routine.

My first goal is to be 200 by Mother's Day and I think I can do that. I am trying the DASH diet and it seems to be working out well for me.

5 days in!

This is my 5th day since I came back and I'm doing well. 20 minutes on the elliptical every day and this morning, I went 1.72 miles! I had been at 1.6. When I got on the scale, I was down 3.4lbs! Not bad! Yes, I know it's water weight, but a loss is a loss.

Time to try again

It started with a melt-down. I went to CJ Banks to buy an Easter outfit. I took some clothes into the dressing room and none of them fit well. I had to get the next size up, which made me the same size I was the last time I started SparkPeople. I called my husband and told him we were going to buy the elliptical I had been looking at for several weeks. As I was talking to him, I became overcome with emotion and started to cry. I had worked so hard to lose the weight and then I allowed it to gradually start creeping back up.

I lost 30 pounds 2 years ago and felt wonderful. Now, I am right back where I started. I am getting up at 5:30 every morning and have a play date with my elliptical. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan yet. I am, however, obedient. I have to do this for my own sanity. Now that I have my own workout equipment, I have no excuse.

I will be dedicated again. I will be a lean, mean fighting machine! I will be healthy, happy and wise!

It's working! I know what to do and I'm still doing it! I haven't had a chance to do a real workout in a week. I just found a position as a line cook in a new restaurant and I've been training all week last week, plus still teaching. I go from work to work to home to bed. I haven't been able to track my food because it's so irregular and I don't have 'portions', just a bite of this and a bite of that. Tracking my food is very important to me so I 'm really struggling with it right now.

I timidly stepped on the scale this morning and I still weigh 188.6! I was afraid that I was going to gain quite a bit of weight from this week, trying the food and checking the seasonings as I cook. I've made sure I'm armed with other things to eat as well. While the rest of the kitchen is grazing on the deep-fried fish, chicken strips and fries, I'm eating the salad, the grilled kabobs and the other sautéed foods.

As I looked at the tempura fish, I knew that wasn't what I wanted. I know that I'm not losing but to me, it's still a positive because I haven't gained, either. I will get a routine and be able to adjust my workout around it but until then, I'm just doing short bursts of cardio when I can and hoping that I can keep my momentum up.

Thank you Sparks Friends for being to encouraging! I find that I want to keep my numbers in line so that I can be a positive influence on someone else and that helps me keep my eating under control, even when it isn't as good as I'd like it to be.

    Wow! It sounds like you have a busy schedule! Congratulations on being a line cook!I am sure it would be hard to track the food your tasting. I don't think that food will make you gain weight as long as it's just a tiny bit to try the food out, but over time that could make a difference. Is there a way that you can bring food with you? I always take food to work with me so that way I can log some calories! It isn't good if you aren't able to log your calories because that way you can't really see what your putting into your body on a daily basis.
I know having a busy schedule makes it a bit of a struggle, but remember nothing in life worth having is easy!
Keep up the good work, but just try and take some food with you if it's at all possible.

    You can do it -- being around food all the time and on your feet all day makes it hard to do what is best for you but you seem to have a great attitude about it!! Keep up the great work!
