I get to work a half day today, got to sleep a little later and will only work 8 to 12. I get off early to do to PT. Was planning to swim before work but had trouble sleeping so decided to sleep in instead. This morning am taking 2 hours to get going so will definitely get on the recumbent bike and do my PT exercises. Yesterday I did a few flights of stairs (slowly and hanging onto railing, but I did it and I didn't plunk down but it is getting smoother. I noticed going down is the hardest which seems backwards but gravity tries to take over and so the quads have to work hard to make the muscles work to make a smoth gliding movement when supporting myself with the new knee. I have no recall of having a problem with stairs last year when I had my other knee replaced but apparently I had a textbook recovery without a hitch. This recovery has been slower. My handicapped parking permit will expire at the end of August but I really don't nee that any more so I will not ask for an extension. Since I missed swimming in the therapy pool this a.m. I will go to the water aerobics class at 6:00 p.m. today. I found even though I wasn't able to keep up with all the exercises I do think I got a good work out and it was nice to talk to the other ladies after class while we are warming up in the whirlpool.
