Today is Monday and I have spent most of the last 28 hours in bed...
I ate a salad with leaf lettuce and strawberries from the church food shelf and I thought they tasted okay but did notice a few were a bit mushy. I picked them over and thought they were okay. Apparently they were not okay. I was up all Sunday morning starting at 2:30 and finally called ER and asked what I should do and they told me "because of my age, not that you are old" I should get checked out. I sat in waiting room 2 hours and another 2 hours in exam room before being seen and was given Zofran for nausea (which worked) and told to go on clear liquids for a day or two and come back if I got sicker. I still am not up to par and am just starting some solid foods cautiously.
I have gotten food from this church before and never had gotten sick before but I don't think I will want "fresh" produce from them again. The packaged bread is the safest thing they hand out and I did get a good month's supply of that. I will also avoid anything that should be refrigerated and so got some low cal cream cheese that will be thrown out, also.
I have had food poisoning before in my life and it is not a very pleasant thing. I hope no one else got sick from the strawberries.
I am hoping to get a few minutes of exercises this evening as I am feeling better and I don't want to backslide on my progress. I have PT tomorrow afternoon and I will have to report I had close to 2 days of inactivity due to this sickness.
